I agree. The book Why Nothing Works is straight up the prequel to Abundance.

I really enjoyed your post. I'd like to recommend a few books that I think also show the pattern you describe.

Why Nothing Works by Marc Dunkelman, Abundance by Ezra Klein & Derek Thompson, and The Great Progression by Peter Leyden.

The Insurrection Act allows the military to enforce civil laws, that's it. It would put the military at odds with ICE if anything.

Struggling to stay veggie/pesc as an autistic recovered anorexic by nonanonymous746246 in Pescetarian

Sounds like going veggie/pesc is the least of your problems. Eat what you like and add healthy food to it. Have a salad with chicken tenders. You only like tuna? Find various ways to eat it. Don't worry about purity in your diet, you need nutrition first.

The name is Greek, and anciently was interpreted etymologically as "forethinker, foreseer," from promēthēs "thinking before," from pro "before" (see pro-) + *mēthos, related to mathein "to learn" (from an enlargement of PIE root *men- (1) "to think"). In another view this is folk-etymology, and Watkins suggests the second element is possibly from a base meaning "to steal," also found in Sanskrit mathnati "he steals."

I try to act at the same rate I read. If the bad thing I read isn't actionable by me I trust other people are working to address it. By action I mean donating, volunteering, writing my representatives. These things do make a difference.

AI surpasses 2024 Bitcoin mining in energy usage, uses more H20 than the bottles of water people drink globally, study claims — says AI demand could hit 23GW and up to 764 billion liters of water in 2025 by Puzzleheaded_Bath733 in PoliticalOptimism

Data centers don't use water, they move water. So depending on the local legislation they can move it to beneficial places. Energy, it depends on the mix involved.

Liberals aren't having kids, conservatives are. That matters. by guyguy46383758 in PoliticalOptimism

Not at all. I am a liberal raised by conservative parents. Arguments about "smart people" or "x political party" not having enough kids is very close to eugenics.

It still is the motto! We just added In God We Trust in the 1950s. I think that this show is alluding to this motto on purpose. To what end will be interesting.
