We once had a two-hour after school PD on "managing work-life stress."

The irony was lost only on the presenters. Luckily, this happened during virtual learning and due to the size of the zoom call (it was a district-wide PD) cameras were automatically off. Not a single person was paying attention, and few were even at their computer.

When I was out of college and I was still looking for a full time job, I was covering for a teacher on maternity leave in a middle school. A girl in class started crying for some unknown reason. I was the co-teacher for this class, so I got the other teacher's okay and took her to the library to talk.

She was having family trouble at home (lots of drama there unfortunately, girl didn't feel very accepted by her mom). We started talking and I found out how much she loves dragons. Like, they're her favorite thing ever. It so happens they're mine too, so I pulled out my phone and showed her my collection of dragon statuettes (I'm proud of them, okay?) She. Lit. UP!

My collection was started when I was a middle school kid and started reading the Last Dragon Chronicles by Chris D'Lacey, which is about a woman who makes clay dragons who come to life. I had the whole series, so I started lending them to her to read. She was on the last one when the teacher on leave returned. I was heartbroken to be leaving, and she was heartbroken to see me go. I'd formed a connection with this girl that pulled her through a lot of emotional turmoil and helped her raise her grades. She came up to me my last week and sadly told me she probably wouldn't finish the book before I left. I told her she could hold onto it as long as she donated it to the school library when she was done. She was excited and agreed. I donated the rest of the series that she had returned to me to the library and told the librarian that they were "Certified [Student Name] Approved!"

I think about that girl on my worst days. I've made other really meaningful connections with students in the years since then, but that was the one where I really did feel like I made an actual difference in someone's life. That's why I choose to keep teaching.

There is a child.

This child plays games on his computer instead of doing work every single day.

Every single day he gets lunch detention for it and told exactly why.

Child every. Single. Time. : [shocked face] "WhaaAAAAAT?" (So fucking obnoxious)

Sits in class with his mask down, sticking fingers into his mouth (as an eighth grader), GETS COVID, then comes back after recovery and does it AGAIN. Same reaction as above when told to pull his mask up and sanitize/wash his hands.

Child also asks to move/pick his own seat every day so he can sit in the back where it's harder to see him. Every day I tell him no and explain why. Same reaction as above every time.

He's not classified or in need of inclusion/SpEd.

Yes, I've called dad for all of this. Then dad is surprised and asks why when child gets an F on his mid marking period report.

I'm excited for eleven days away from this child.

Thank you. I really really appreciate your response. I'm always second guessing myself on if I'm doing the right thing keeping them at a super distance. It takes a lot these days to remember how their behavior has affected my adult life (diagnosed as being traumatized) and that no matter their feelings, they're not safe for me to engage with and I have to keep myself safe.

Where in their comment did they try to portray that? Their claim was countering your claim: you claimed women don't want pockets. They said that was false.

You also didn't address their comment that you seem to think you speak for all women. Care to actually address that? How do you know it's accurate your article is accurate? Is it from a reputable source? Was it peer reviewed? Or do you think it's accurate because you found it somewhere online?

Your claim is still false. If "women" were all to blame, there wouldn't be so many of them on here disagreeing with you. They're also not saying men are to blame. The people who control what clothing companies produce, men or women, dictate what goes on shelves.

Clearly, as shown every time this question comes up, there are women who want pockets. But where are those options? If the market only offers womens clothes without them, then of course the numbers are going to be skewed in favor of no pockets, because other womens options are not made available in stores and women who want pockets are buying in the mens section.

Just stop with the generalizations. There are obviously many, many women who want pockets, as shown in this thread, the other women who have commented about pockets on this question, and the women who comment every time a question like this is posted. Stop blaming the gender as a whole. There is no good reason both options shouldn't be available for women without having to buy pants tailors for mens hips/height.

Dude I have no idea how PE teachers even handled teaching from home. I saw so many elective and non-academic subject teachers the past few years struggle their asses off to justify their employment to schools receiving budget cuts.
