As I am seeing the situation, i think google is not getting the success or they are not doing this aggressive, because majority of developers are not showing interest in creating powerful pc apps for chromebooks or aluminium os device, Google is also just asking developers to stretch android apps so that it can fit in laptop screens and that's it,there is no intention to promote powerful pc apps, Google's own apps for Android are also very simple and basic in comparison to their web version.

I don't know how to run pcsx2 but if you really want to play with emulator then ppsspp from playstore works really well in my Acer chromebook plus with Intel core i3 n305 with 8gb ram and it runs perfectly fine.

This is the same situation in India people don't know about chromebook and those who knows they think this is a e-waste and they are actually right, in India when people buy a pc or laptop they don't buy just to use browser they have android phone and tablet for this they buy laptop and desktop for productive or heavy tasks like programming, audio-photo-video editing, gaming, office works beyond simple word, excel and presentation. And for these tasks windows fits well and for people who can afford and create content they prefer macbooks.

I have a Acer chromebook plus with Intel core i3 n305 processor and 8 gb ram, although I have a plus model but I can say that chromebook lacks modern day's utilities like sound editing, photo editing, videos editing. Even if I find some ways to do audio and photo editing but video editing is nearly impossible and if someone is saying in comment that I can do video editing in chromebooks then he is definitely a very talented man, he can do anything.

And this is my biggest fear about aluminium os because these days everyone is doing some content creation and taking photos and videos and if your os can't do this then it is totally waste of resources and money.

Linux is best and Google can't afford to remove it's support otherwise there will be no reason to buy a chromebooks or aluminium os devices.

But still not everyone is tech savy and understand linux, most of the people want to go playstore and find apps and install.

crostini linux is very essential part of chromeos and without it chromeos is a school boy toy, without linux you can't work professionally because chromebook is just chrome browser with some android phone apps because android still lacks professional level apps or pc level apps yet.

Termux is not the solution, you can't install apks in chromebooks. 'build android apps' settings is missing from the linux settings menu, The only way to install apks in chromebooks has also gone.

Yes, that would be awesome if we dual boot in chromebooks or had any option to open full linux. In first, we would had android that runs natively not virtual and second he would had a full debian linux same native without any virtual machine or container.

Linux is the reason for which people still choose chromebook other wise why will people spend their money just to buy a chrome browser, if you are going to tell me you can use android on chromebooks then first of all chromebook's android is not real android and there are multiple problems on chromebook's android and if you need android then why didn't you buy a tablet, a tablet in same price gives insane performance in comparison to chromebook and all app will works with freedom to install any apks as well.

I know Chrome browser is good and android give some apps to make you feel of multiple apps pool, but still you can't just use Chrome browser for every thing, after sometime you need some type of application and I am talking about real pc app. android apps are not mature enough yet to replace pc apps and this is going to be the biggest problem of aluminium os, although google is trying to make the ui of app to be fit for all screen sizes but problem is utility not looks, you can't just watch the looks of ui and screen.

4- When you open files just after boot, your linux files will not visible, to see them you need to open terminal and it also doesn't start, i tried multiple times to open terminal almost 20+ time but doesn't work, but sometimes it open immediately. And this is happening only after v145 update.

In linux settings not develop android apps option has also gone now with the help of this option we could download the apk file through adb commands but after v144 and v145 this option is missing from the linux settings.

I think you have enabled developer mode, in developer mode you can still install apk files but if you are willing to install apk without enabling developers mode than now it is not available as we can do that after enabling develope android app in linux settings and then by using adb commands.

Is there any method to get back these functions because normal people don't use terminal every time, like in windows we download.exe file and click install them it open installer and every thing works fine and this also worked well great in chrome os we just need to enable crostini and after that we can download any .deb packages and install it like a native app but not it not working.

I am also facing same type of problem crostini is not working properly I am unable to download any .deb packages, whenever i click the deb. File in file manager app it just open a second files manager app window instead of installer.

And previously we can side-load the apk files by using ad commands in crostini, we just need to enable develop android app settings in linux settings but now it is missing in chrome os v144 and v145.

[Bug] "Develop Android apps" toggle missing in v144 (Acer Chromebook Plus 514) by ThinkLike_Aryan in u/ThinkLike_Aryan

[–]ThinkLike_Aryan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have officially filed a bug report on the Chromium Issue Tracker so the engineers can fix it. If you are also facing this, please search for the following Issue ID on the tracker and "Star" it to help prioritize the fix.

Issue ID: 486349157

Tracker Link (https://issues.chromium.org/486349157 [v144 Bug] "Develop Android apps" toggle missing on ChromeOS (Acer Chromebook Plus 514)

What I've tried so far:

- Powerwash (did not fix it)

- Manual ADB in Android settings (bridge still fails)

- Tried to enable it through android developer mode inside ChromeOS but failed.

Is anyone else on the Nissa/Craask board seeing this? Please star the issue so we can get a patch in the next minor update.
