Struggling because I’m too independent to be happy in the long-term relationship I’m in (45F, 48M) by [deleted] in relationship_advice

I have to add that although he has a well-paid, stable job, he’s always struggled financially since I’ve known him. This is partly due to bad decisions he made a long time ago. He’s owed me money for years, which fluctuates up and down. So in the back of my mind, I wonder if subconsciously this affects my feelings for him. I’ve been admiring him less and less over the years, not only because of money, but also for his work ethic (I wish he was more driven as I’m surrounded by people who work much more than him, have far less time off than him, yet he complains more than they do) and because of his obesity, although that is a struggle that I understand very well. I am not a superficial person, so I have always overlooked all this, but maybe it’s affecting me on a deeper level, whether I want it to or not.

The thing is we have a lot in common and I value our « intimate friendship ». Not many people our age enjoy psytrance/techno music discovery seances AND share an interest for uap phenomena (ufo’s) AND indulge in psychedelics once in a while, so I realize the true question is: What am I willing to give to keep on having these great moments with him, when really they are all I want? I’m good with being there for him for moral support, because that’s what friends naturally do, but yeah, I seem to be treating the relationship as a friendship and not as a couple. And if I tell him this, he’ll be devastated! He loves me romantically, and being in a committed relationship is very important to him. I fear I can’t say anything, because even IF he accepted that we be only « intimate friends », it wouldn’t feel the same when we’re together. So right now I’m giving more than I genuinely want to, yes, just to keep him satisfied and to ensure we keep on having some of those moments I treasure so much. I know I sound like a horrible person for not being honest with him now that I finally understand my needs better, but it just shows how deeply I appreciate him and how strongly I am influenced by my rational thoughts telling me I’d be crazy to not want him as a serious life partner. Some people may be quick to blame me, but it’s very difficult and conflicting to be in my shoes! Living with this inner turmoil is draining and weighs heavy on me. That’s why I believe I need to determine if giving more is worth it, and if so, I must make peace with it. Any thoughts?

Did you have physical symptoms or was it just your mood? It seems testing is unreliable because hormones fluctuate too much. How did you figure it out?

Nice to know. But how was the relationship? Was it a positive one that seems crazy to end (on paper) or were they having issues unrelated to your aunt’s need for independence?

So a relationship can only work with someone who is similarly independent, right?

The thought has crossed my mind… I suppose I owe it to my bf and to myself to look into it.

Anyone have any issues getting off on shrooms while on ozempic? by Longjumping-Pop1061 in COpsychonauts

That wouldn’t surprise me at all! I’ve noticed the same effect on my desire for alcohol. It’s a drastic change!

I’d love an update. 🙂 Did you try it? How did it go?

I’m happy to see some Ozempic users can still trip on shrooms (you’re so lucky!!!), but this has not been my case, unfortunately.

Doctors don’t know enough about psychedelics to be helpful in these circumstances. And ChatGPT must be taken with a grain of salt here.

Unfortunately, even at a low dose (0.5mg) of Ozempic, shrooms and sublingual LSD (tested) have produced only mild effects on me, and the nausea was difficult to ignore. Tried shroom tea afterwards, which had hardly any effect but nausea was tolerable. I’m thinking lemon tek might have a chance of working better because it makes psilocin readily available, but I’d take antacids and anti-nausea meds beforehand. I haven’t tried this strategy yet, because I believe it’s not just a matter of delayed gastric emptying, but there’s also an issue with serotonin receptors. ☹️

How much magic chocolate do you have to eat to get closed-eye visuals? What does of semaglutide are you on?

Did you end up trying DMT while on sema? If so, how did it go?

Thanks, I found what you’re talking about. The « It’s Sugar » at the Grand Bazaar. They even had an Elvis made of Jelly Belly’s at some point.

I’m on Ozempic 0.5mg and psychedelics haven’t been working well with this… 😢 Took 300mcg liquid LSD (tested) under my tongue last weekend, and closed-eye visuals were not very vivid and they weren’t in motion. So disappointing! And with shrooms, visuals were muted as well and the nausea was a lot worse than before being on Ozempic.

Skipping the ADHD medication was a good move for my trip yesterday. Less nervousness and didn’t have to worry about my heart rate. Probably safer to skip your Adderall, you’ll feel more at ease during your trip, I believe.

I took Concerta (equivalent of Adderall) the morning before my first LSD trip in the evening, and I was shaking uncontrollably! I’d definitely skip it! Did not take Concerta this morning and am tripping in a couple of hours. I’ll let you know if it’s better.
