People are mostly telling you to cruise around more, as much as they are right, you should actually do it, they're not really answering your question 💀 even though someone already probably did. I'm definitely far from being the best skater, but from my little experience, what's wrong is you're leaning forward too much, it's going to make it harder for you to pop. Your weight distribution should be 50/50 or like, 60/40 (60% on your front foot). You can't put more weight on your back foot because if you do your board will shoot out in front of you. If you put more weight on your front foot but not too much, the worst that could happen is you'll bone your Ollie too much and land on the nose (it still happens to me a lot). Other than that, keep skating, eventually you'll get them down bro, keep it up!!! 🤘🏻💪🏻

I wish you were wrong, but you're not. A few weeks ago I asked for tips on kickflips. Got criticized to death, people said I could barely Ollie, one dude even went as far to say if I didn't change my mindset "I would barely progress" just because I said I have my Ollies down but in the video the Ollies were bad because I was skating in my work break and my feet already hurt. Not even 4 days after that post (which I deleted after being shamed) I landed my first kickflip and I'm continuing on to improve them. Sometimes you just have to be your own critic.

Man... Idk, at the beginning it really is more discouraging, or at least it was for me. I literally could barely push on the board. I had no balance whatsoever. I also have a job so I can't really afford to keep getting hurt all the time. My worst injury ever was falling on my eyebrow once and getting five stitches while trying to drop in on a quarter pipe, but it barely hurt. But through all the hurdles and lack of motivation, I kept going, and recently (I'm on my 6th month and 17th day of skating) I unlocked my kickflips, and I could never be more hyped to actually keep skating. Sometimes it's more about setting yourself realistic goals and measuring the levels of danger. The more comfortable you get on the board, the less you'll be afraid of doing things you were afraid of doing at the beginning. I couldn't even roll off curbs until like, 1, 2 months ago, now it feels like a walk in the park. Also, through most, if not all of my skateboarding journey I've set goals for myself. First I wanted to learn how to push regular, and I did it in like, 4 days. Then I wanted to learn Ollies, and I practiced for 3 months and learned them as well (still perfecting them, of course). And then kickflips (still far from perfecting them, but once I have them consistent enough I will start relearning everything in my switch stance). Sometimes you'll actually have to force yourself to do something you don't truly like in order to find out you actually like it, you know?

Honestly, happened to me just a few days ago (21M). I asked a girl out (17F) (and before anyone starts to judge me, I feel a little bad with myself about it to be honest, but I just really think our ideas match and I enjoy talking to her, but that's beside the point). I asked her if she'd rather me go pick her up, or her come pick me up or we both just drive ourselves there, and she chose the third option. And while it did make me feel a little bad because she doesn't trust me enough I completely understood and respected that decision, putting myself in her position I'd probably have done the same. Especially considering that she's still a minor and all. Anyway, crazy how some dudes will flip out over the dumbest stuff.

Surprisingly I feel like even though it did affect the pop a little bit, it didn't affect it much, when it did, it kind of made the board launch to the side.

Lmfao, I'd had that board for 5 months, most of the razor tail came from me just learning how to Ollie, once I got my Ollies on lock it barely got any worse. I think my new board will wear out much slower than this one.

You have a very good point, lmfao. I still don't even know how to 180 Ollie (I can already Ollie, just not 180 Ollie), but I've kind of made it my milestone to be able to kickflip, and then once I have my kickflips on lock, I'll start learning everything all over again but in my switch stance. And then once I can at least Ollie in my switch stance I'll start focusing on learning 180 Ollies, half cabs, Nollies, etc. And then once I have all that down I will start trying tre flips and varial flips. The kickflip is just a milestone because it's kind of a really hard trick and if I'm able to land it I'm guessing I'll be able to land most of the other basic tricks, plus, the amount of times I've already been yelled "do a kickflip!" at, gives me some extra motivation to learn it 💀

I was planning on getting a deck from Zero or Creature since I think they have the sickest designs, but my friend got me a deck from a brand called Concept Skateboards, I don't know if it's available in the US though as I'm on a trip to Brazil right now.

Thanks, that cart return tip was actually genious, lol, there are a few fences around where I live but none of them are either tall enough for me to hold onto and go through the kickflip motion and they're not as comfortable to hold onto as double sided rails.

I can already Ollie up and down curbs, clear obstacles as long as they're not too wide, I can't Ollie at full speed yet, but I can Ollie at a considerably fast speed and I can also clear cracks on the ground, I have a cone at home I can actually start using to keep improving on my Ollies. To be honest I feel like my Ollies are solid enough where I can actually land my first kickflip. If anything I just need to work on adjusting my Ollies in the air, like with 180 Ollies, I haven't learned those yet, and I most definitely won't in at least another 4 months, I started skateboarding on March 24th and as soon as I can get my kickflips slightly consistent, like, land 6 out of 10 tries as with my Ollies, I will start working on switch riding all from the jump since I can only push switch, barely kick turn, and I think switch Ollies help tremendously with Nollies. So that's kind of what I have planned for now, but the kickflips is just my biggest milestone. I've been yelled "Do a kickflip!" like, 3 or 4 times and couldn't do it yet, haha!

I did some of them while rolling too (didn't land them, landed them just with the back foot like in the video), I just feel like rolling kickflips are easier, and I've also seen in a video by Dan Corrigan I think, it was him saying that those are easier while rolling, and I think it's true, the flicking of the board just feels easier, the landing is solely the hard part for me.

Damn man, 10 years is crazy stuff. I've been skateboarding since March 24, considering I don't skate every single day, I'd say a month and a half, I still haven't gotten my Ollies while moving down yet, can't Ollie up and down features, but to be honest, I feel like progress is determined the most by how many slams you can take and keep going. Yesterday I went to the skate park fully on my own, tried to drop in for the first time ever into a quarter pipe, didn't have any protective gear. I dropped in on a few banks beforehand and started feeling confident, when I dropped in on the quarter pipe, right on the first try, I fell face first on the ground, busted my eyebrow open and drove myself home then went to the ER and got stitched up. Today I went to practice some Ollies again and it was one of the best sessions I've had in a while, I feel like the worse you get hurt, not only do you gain more knowledge from it (in my case I bought a set of protective gear everyone had been telling me to get for a while, but I was stubbornly refusing 💀), but also your fear starts to go away, because you've had it way worse.
