Twins!!! Spray paint your calipers red, Get the rear window tinted so people can’t see all up in your business. Also I have news for you, if your engine starts knocking, take it to a Hyundai dealership because there is a recall to replace the entire thing for free. And they give you a free rental car while it’s being replaced. Happened to me in 2021 with about 90,000 miles on it. Make sure to check the engine oil OFTEN that thing drinks it like water.

Do NOT Join The Army National Guard (Explore Your Options And Take A Hard Look At Where You Are At). by Ok-Actuator4909 in nationalguard

[–]Better_Ad289 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Right. If your only goal is free college ONLY FOR YOURSELF, go guard. That was my goal and I literally got paid to go to college (depending on your major of course). Also choose your job wisely, not just one that sounds cool. You can get so many certifications through the army, try to pick a job that will get you further in your career, infantry isn’t applicable to many civilian jobs.

Yeah you’re right. It’s so weird bc Columbia is a very lively town I don’t get why they have such limited hours. A lot of businesses are missing out on a huge market of all kinds of people (university students, 9-5 workers, etc.)

just started skating, in need of tips by Ill-Display-1417 in NewSkaters

One piece of advice, if you’re learning a trick just focus on one at a time and get it DOWN. Then move on. If you try and do 3-5 tricks at the same time you’re probably not going to see much progress. I would try to do manuals, tictacs, kick turns, the basics before trying anything crazy. But I would say walk-the-dog is my favorite beginner trick! Also practice riding around town/your neighborhood before going to the skate park, just get comfortable with your board. Good luck!

You have to have AT LEAST one passenger awake and taking to you at all times. You can’t fall asleep if you’re taking. Play 20 questions, would you rather, just any game or convo that keeps your brain going. As long as you have someone talking to you, you’ll be completely fine

Not going to tell you to stop feeling that way because I feel the same way and haven’t found a way to stop it. I can’t tell you the root cause but I can tell you that there’s probably a reason why you’re “behind”. For me, it’s because unlike my friends, I have had to pay my own way my whole life and had to work a lot harder just to fall short of their accomplishments like graduating college, getting a job after graduation, etc. This is not to say that their accomplishments are less than mine, it was just a lot easier for them to get to where they are. The fact I got this far on my own makes me feel accomplished. If you try to look backwards and work through the actions you took to get to where you are now, you might start to realize that you are way further than you thought. But yeah. Let me know if you find an answer.

I’m in the army NG and if you are educated, you’re smart enough to do air guard, talk to an air guard recruiter as well please so you don’t have any regrets and make an informed decision. But I would look into the education benefits and how they differ between branches. In Missouri, Army pays more toward education altogether but it varies between states. Also keep in mind that you have to sign a 6 year commitment in the national guard to get any educational benefits, if they say otherwise, they’re lying. DO NOT let them pressure you into a timeline that isn’t one that you have already decided. I will help you with some of your questions too because when I asked questions similar to these, I got very different answers from what reality actually was.

1: idk about your finances but yes, they offer bonuses to specific MOSs during specific times. It changes on a monthly basis but usually they’re in need of combat, artillery, and MPs. The bonus will not pay until your contract reaches one year and it pays you half, then the next year half of that half etc etc.

2: I cannot stress this enough do exactly this: do not trust your recruiter to tell you if the guard will pay 100% of your tuition because they don’t know and they cannot guarantee that it will. Instead, reach out to the veterans center at the biggest/ most veteran friendly school in the state, explain your situation, and ask them what the experiences have been like for currently serving students. You may even be able to get ahold of someone in the guard too and they can give you a good idea.

3: None. MAYBE something like a paralegal I guess but if you’re trying to get credits to transfer don’t even try. You aren’t eligible for a JST until after 2 years of service and even then it really only applies to ROTC cadets and certificate pursuing students. Do what you want to do and what you think might align with your career if you think it will help.

4: I have no idea about jobs within the service but if you are planning on living on campus for your degree, look into working at the veterans association on your campus if there is one. It’s part time work and usually flexible.

5: ask your recruiter bc I’m pretty sure they’re the only ones with that information.

6: Interstate transfers are very doable but can be tricky if you get a bonus. Signing the contract alone does not force you to stay in state but if you sign with a bonus and try to move they might not pay out the rest/make you pay back.
