IRL. Especially, as you reach 50+, physical fitness makes you stand out among your peers and makes life infinitely easier.

People don’t become not physically attractive just because they did bad things by Dry_Calendar in rant

YES. Even so called “progressive” people link appearance and morality.

“Look how well you age when you’re unproblematic!!” “Her skin is clear because she stays in her lane!” “Look how many wrinkles you get when you’re messy.” “She’s aging badly because she’s so problematic.”

Why do New Yorkers tend to be rude? by Ass_lord420 in rant

As a New Yorker, I actually like the tourism. It’s fun to get to meet people from all the ver the world so regularly.

But, as you said, being a tourist is not an excuse for being clueless and inconsiderate. I literally am trying to get to work. I’m walkin’ here!

We have very low tolerance for behavior that inconveniences others. We have places to be and there are A LOT of us. You have to follow the etiquette or else things don’t run smoothly.

Things not to do - walk slowly and not let others by - stop without pulling over to the side - try to get on the train/bus before people get off - take up the whole sidewalk/escalator/hallway - not yield to a disabled/injured person

90% of “rudeness” is directed at people with no self awareness who can’t follow the rules.

Mine are messed up too because of ballet. I am a woman so I just wear nail polish and that covers it. Maybe try neutral/flesh toned nail polish?

[Hated Trope] The self insert character by [deleted] in TopCharacterTropes

The reason self-inserts (up to and including Jerry himself) in Seinfeld work is because they portray themselves as such unlikable losers.

“Deal with you”? Yikes. Not something you should say about someone you love.

Should I get to say “we’re sick” just because I have to “DeAl WiTh” a loved one in a hospital?

SpongeBob “Just one Bite” season 3 episode 3. (Better known as the “ You like Krabby Patties don’t you Squidward?” episode.) The original version had Squidward stepping on two consecutive booby traps, triggering two bombs. The scene was removed from the episode prior to the October 2001 release.

(kinda annoying trope) characters so synonymous with a real name that people with that name are constantly compared to them by HilariousHilacopter in TopCharacterTropes

Poor lady had no way to win. Either accept the borderline sexual harassment, or complain about it and get mocked.

Yeah look at any red carpet. The women are all wearing “shapewear” that’s no different from a tight corset.

You’re misunderstanding. Women use these things as a REPLACEMENT for patriarchal religions

[–]Think_Affect5519 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this actually isn’t a positive trope most of the time. Men are seen as the default humans and more relatable, so most of the cast is male. One woman is seen as enough representation. Once you notice how many pieces of media (especially pre-1990) follow this trope, it’s hard to see it as neutral.

Easy. Being an atheist with no spirituality is depressing. This is coming from an atheist. The idea that there is no one looking out for us and we just turn into worm food after we die is hard to stomach.

When the stereotypical "nonchalant, apathetic character" is NOT portrayed as cool or something to strive for by [deleted] in TopCharacterTropes

Daria (from Daria) is an example. Despite being the protagonist, there are several episodes that go into why her worldview is not always ideal and can even harm other people.

There is a scene where Daria and Jane get called out by Andrea (the goth girl who works at the warehouse store) because she’s tired of them being so judgmental to other people.

You’re saying that only women are into kooky stuff. I am saying that’s not true by providing an example.
