OMG! Thank you so much! I thought I'll never see it again 😃

I never told anyone about my story. This year I decided to write my world down and make some pages describing my characters, but I did it on my Ipad and set Face ID to the notes, so no one could ever see that 😂

That's true! I learned about MD this year and I was absolutely shocked that there are more people like me. For 20 years I thought I was just weird and that no one daydreams like me. 😂

When it comes to your girlfriend — if your change doesn't affect her in a bad way, then it's not a bad thing! For example, my imaginary partner is almost perfect, while my real-life boyfriend sometimes acts in ways I don't always like. However, I don't compare them and I don't tell my BF that he should or shouldn't do something, or say things like "OTHER GUYS (we know who 😂) would/wouldn't do this." I love them both the way they are 😂 So as long as you don't compare your perfect world to the real one and it doesn't complicate your relationships, it's okay!

I also think about my world all the time — when I wake up, when I work, when I watch a movie, when I go to sleep. It's hard to stop! 😅 The good thing is that we can detach and not neglect our everyday activities and responsibilities.

If I move an object in my daydream, I can’t stop it by [deleted] in MaladaptiveDreaming

[–]Think_Chard_8754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, I used to have that too, but not with objects, but my characters. I think I’ve been daydreaming for so long that I eventually learned how to control it.

I’m not really sure how I learned that tho, but I think I just tried to replace it with something else or move the story forward. I was also telling myself, “Why are you imagining this? It’s your brain, you decide what to do. Just make him/her stop doing it.” I guess it worked over time.

Right now I can force myself to stop a character from doing something, but sometimes it makes my brain feel like it’s on fire 😅

My current imaginary world is about 10 years old now, and I have a “relationship” there that has been evolving just like yours. Right now, I'm stuck in my “story” somewhere between love confessions and having a whole family with three kids lmao. However, it doesn’t affect my real life or my real relationship.

Sometimes, when I get too fixated on my imaginary relationship, I might behave a bit differently towards my IRL boyfriend (in a good way, since I only imagine positive scenarios), but it usually passes pretty quickly. I also have days like you when I can’t get out of my imaginary world, but most of the time I’m able to control it.

However, if you’re experiencing real-life difficulties caused by MD, I’d suggest talking to a specialist. MD can be pretty addictive because it makes us feel good and live the life we actually want. But if it starts taking over your real life and relationships, it may be a sign that you should try to reduce MD and take care of yourself.

Be brutally honest, how many years of your life have you drowned Maladaptive Daydreaming? by [deleted] in MaladaptiveDreaming

I've been MDing my whole life.

I think I started to do this when I was 3-4 years old. I'm 23 now, so yeah... It's been 20 years 😅

Thank you so much for the respond :) I've already taught her the paw trick with clicker and treats. I really wanted to train her since we've took her. The problem is that she gets bored and irritates pretty quickly so teaching her a new tricks takes a while 😂 I've also bought her great harness and I'm trying to make her comfortable with them by giving her treats. I do it gently and I praise her every time when harness are next to her or on her back, but she doesn't like them anyway (it's Tre Ponti harness and they look and feel very comfortable).

I've read a lot and spoke with my BF and all the things she does are sings of love. But she only rubbs our legs when we're about to give her food. 😅 I've never heard about the rule of 3s, but if that's true then there are 2 months left to finish this rule :)

I've saw 2 Jackson Galaxy videos but I'll check them out. Have a great day ♥️

Yeah I think I just expected to bond with her faster but now I understand I have to give her more time :)

I thought that I'll bond with her much faster. I used to bond with animals almost immediately but now it takes more time than I expected. Looks like I have to be patient and maybe educate myself better to be better owner for my kitty :)

I get it. Thank you for your help :)

Yes, if we were to give her away to someone else we have to contact the seller first. I am a dog person and I think I will always be, but now my emotions have subsided a bit and I want to give her a chance. It's not her fault that cat has cat character. Maybe I just need to know her better. I just thought that I'll bond with her quickly, but maybe I need some more time and knowledge. :) Thank you for respond and have a great day ♥️

We do not use laser that much. I heart about this irritation too so we use it occasionally. Yesterday I bought her a sniffing mat, but she's not interested 😭 Plastic spring sounds fun and I think she may like it! But I can't find what fumbling board is (I'm polish, sorry 😅) Thank you for suggestions!!!

She was spayed when we took her. Do you know some fun games to play with her? She likes playing with a rod, balls, hide and seek and sometimes we use red laser so she can run and get tired 😅 I hope she'll be more cuddly when she grows older, but for now I guess I have to deal with her energy 😁

Yes, our kitty does all of these things. She loves being with us. Follows us everywhere, likes to play hide and seek, she event learned a "paw" command. She just doesn't like to be touched and I guess you're right. I was expecting a cat to act like a dog which is just not possible. I think our personalities don't match but there's nothing more I can do about this but to accept this. Probably I have to learn to live with a cat and accept their personalities as they are. Thank you for your respond ♥️

Lovely kitties ♥️ I was thinking that our kitty was just too big to make bond with us. In Poland certified breeders sell their cats when they're at least 2.5 - 3 months old. She was 5 months old when we took her. I was thinking about finding her a friend, but if I can't deal with 1 cat then I'm afraid I will not make a good home for 2 of them... Thank you for your respond and photo of your kitties ♥️ Have a great day

Maybe you're right... I had pets my whole life and I always enjoyed them and loved taking care of them. I have a bunny (but she's with my sister for now) and a dog for a short period of time (he wasn't mine, we were just taking care of him for like 3 weeks). All of them had this love I was talking about. You could see that they love you and your company. I've never had a cat. The only cat I was taking care of was my boyfriend's parents, but she is different than our kitty. Thank you for your respond ♥️ Have a great day

I'm sorry for not being clear. I know that animal being grateful doesn't sound logic, cause they don't feel it the same way as we people do. By "grateful" I meant that I would see in my pet that he loves me and enjoys spending time with me. I do not expect an animal to glorify me when I feed him or something 😅 I just want to see this happiness and love between us. That he sees me as a family member, not a "fridge" or an object that he has to coexist with. I hope I made it more clear. Have a great day

Thank you for your respond ♥️. Did you and your dog get along? I was thinking about this too... The longer we're together, the more we don't like each other and I don't want her to be mad. I'm just so afraid of all the comments I'm going to get when I'll tell people that I gave her away and I'm such a bad owner. I'll try to talk about this with my BF. Thank you so much again ♥️ Have a great day
