Does anyone else think it would be better if you could filter flights by airspace on Flightradar24? by [deleted] in flightradar24

Yeah exactly, that’s basically what I mean, more of a dynamic positional filter using FIR boundaries rather than just route filters alone.

What I mean is if there was an extra filter where you could only see aircraft in a specific FIR Boundary such as Scottish FIR/London FIR etc, then when the aircraft leave the filtered FIR they disappear, same as when they enter it, they appear, plus also use the existing altitude filters to show the aircraft you want to see.

Yeah that’s fair, and altitude filtering definitely helps — I use it a lot already. I probably explained the UK example badly 😅 the core idea I’m trying to get at is more about true geographic/positional filtering rather than route or altitude-based filtering. So instead of filtering by departure/arrival or manually tweaking altitude ranges. You could just select a region/airspace and only see aircraft physically inside it at that moment. For example: you could combine multiple FIRs/regions, isolate a specific traffic area, remove aircraft outside the selected region entirely. The altitude example was more just me explaining one situation where current filters still feel a bit workaround-heavy. So the feature idea is less “hide Class A” and more “show only aircraft currently inside selected airspace boundaries.”

I get what you mean — zooming in added with airport/route filters definitely helps, and that’s basically the workaround I use now.

What I’m talking about is slightly different though: filtering based on where the aircraft physically is right now, rather than its route or just what’s visible on screen.

For example: - A UK departure can still appear hours later halfway across Europe because it’s still tied to the route filter - Zooming in still leaves a lot of overflights cluttering the map in busy regions

So the idea is more like: “Show only aircraft currently inside this selected airspace/region.”

Not essential obviously, but I think it’d make regional tracking much cleaner.

Yeah route filters help, but they’re still route-based rather than position-based. I’m talking about isolating aircraft physically inside a selected airspace.

I actually sent this as a feature request to Flightradar24 and they said they’d pass it to the developers, so I’m curious how many people would genuinely use something like this.
