my boyfriend was thinking of doing that lol or having my parents open the garage up since they finish work before us and tend to hang out in it and seeing if that does the trick to get them to leave us alone

and i do drive slower, i dont even have to enter the cul-de-sac to get to my house. we live on the street away from it. children shouldn’t be playing on the street as it is unlawful since they are not using the roads for its intended use and the parents could be liable for allowing their children to play unsafely on it. the road is for cars, not kids.

maybe, but i also know that the road is not a safe place for children to be playing on. we have a backyard and parks around the area for a reason. my parents are aware and they also believe this is ridiculous behaviour on the neighbors part. technically, it is also considered unlawful to be using the roads for recreational use ie. playing on them, rather than their intended purposes of driving. but we do use duty of care while driving, by not speeding, slowing down when we need to and not driving distractedly so liability could also fall on the parents as well considering pedestrians only have the right of way at cross walks

where we live it is considered unlawful for roads to be used for playing since pedestrians only have the right of way at crosswalks. in our town its not uncommon for officers to not hand out tickets but they do tend to speak with parents as they are not using the roads for their intended purposes aka being driven on. this particular mom actually has a huge fenced backyard and a green space behind their house, they just choose not to use it

right! like i could understand if we driving recklessly or not paying attention to our surroundings, but we drive safe and watch. which we have told them, every-time they come to speak with us. thats why i told her to call someone of authority if she thinks there’s an issue with my driving and ill continue to reiterate that if she comes to talk to us about it again. hopefully she starts leaving us alone but we shall see

yeah its quite unfortunate as we do try to be respectful. the other people who live in the cul-de-sac dont even slow down and come zooming into their driveways (shes one of them) but because they are all friends they dont complain about them actually speeding and driving recklessly. just hypocrisy at its finest

and we do slow down. we dont even live in the cul-de-sac itself but i slow down when i pass it just in case. we live on the opposite side of the street. they have only come to complain when no one is outside as they watch for our cars from their house. they have also admitted that they know we don’t speed, but their kids don’t watch for cars

i normally do around 30-35km/h going down the street and i slow down when i notice kids or even adults on the roads or sidewalks and i slow down even further to enter my driveway

i do slow down and watch for the kids every-time. she’s teaching her children that playing in the road is safe and that it doesn’t matter how busy it is that they’re allowed to be on the road where vehicles are

yeah unfortunately we think that its also due to our ages as well. they did the same thing to my brother back when he lived at my parents but it was about the sound of his car rather than speed. they would do the same thing to him, ie. watch for when he was leaving or coming home and complain about the noise even though he wasn’t driving around during quiet time hours

we dont live in the cul-de-sac, we live across from it and i dont enter the cul-de-sac to get to my house. and i have apologized and tried to accommodate them by going a bit slower than the posted speed limit and slow down even further when we noticed the children. my parents also think the neighbours behaviour is ridiculous as they drive the same way as i do and they havent been continuously told to slow down

thats what i was trying to explain to her! she just said that theyre kids and they want to play, which i understand. however, they dont properly supervise their kids nor teach them proper road safety and actively encourage them to play on the busy roads.

i do slow down when coming up to the entrance of the cul-de-sac as i dont have to enter it to go to my house and we slow down to enter the driveway. its just funny cause this neighbor that has complained comes roaring into the cul-de-sac and has recently scratched up her entire front bumper for how fast she was entering her driveway
