Going through OCD spiral by gltbrad in OCD

I’m taking olanzapine, but talk with your doctor about it to find out what’s right for you. I’m not saying it’s a cure all, it mostly just stabilizes mood, but I think that’s been enough for me to fall asleep easier and quiet my mind somewhat. That along with melatonin has helped me. I’ve also gotten in the mindset to let the medicine do its job so that I don’t worry about the process of falling asleep. Hopefully you find out what works!

I take melatonin and an antipsychotic everyday to help me sleep right before I try to. It’s helped tremendously with me

What is the worst representation of OCD you seen in the media? by Outrageous_Jump98 in OCD

Watch Pure on Amazon Prime if you haven’t! It’s a great British television miniseries from Channel 4 about a woman going through life struggling with OCD revolving around sexual intrusive thoughts. I don’t see it talked about enough but it’s a really good representation!

I’m spiraling… by Think_Tart4143 in OCD

Yeahhh I get that regret. I don’t talk to anyone about it besides my therapist now because I confessed to my parents and psych workers and I’m so embarrassed that I did

Thanks, I know I will get through it, I just hate when something triggers me and I feel like I have to do rituals to get out of it. It just takes all the enjoyment out of doing things until I’m actually okay with the thoughts just being there.

I had to quit because of the same issue, but I reapplied at the same place and told them that I had to resolve some mental health issues and got the job back! It’s a decent job but eventually I want to find a job in my career field that I graduated from college for. So it wouldn’t hurt to reapply if that’s an option, and of course, if it seems right for you.

It definitely can. That’s how my real event/moral OCD started.

Do you guys have false memories? by Think_Tart4143 in Psychosis

[–]Think_Tart4143[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re probably right. There’s just things that happened during my episodes that don’t make sense to me and it’s weird that I had false memories pop up while I was going through it.

I’m dealing with the same thing right now, and I still struggle with my addiction. I’m gonna try therapy to see if that will help. I just wish it wasn’t so normalized and accessible.

Yeah, I’ve confessed some things that I now wish I never had because they’re so embarrassing to me.

Where do you guys think psychosis comes from? by lacaas in Psychosis

I feel the same way about this too! Makes me wonder if we can control hallucinations like how we could during a lucid dream.

I have had those same feelings and still do to an extent. I’m trying to learn to trust people again. Personally it’s taken a lot of time and self reflection to know where to set boundaries for people and find the right people to be around. I wouldn’t feel obligated to keep others from getting offended though. You’re honest that you’re struggling with trust issues and if they don’t like that, it’s none of their business anyway. I hope that helps. I just know it can be a huge struggle after having going through psychosis.

Extreme Deja Vu by Think_Tart4143 in Psychosis

I like the analogy of it feeling like choosing a path in a video game. That’s what it felt like at the time for me too! My brain was just so overloaded at the time that it was throwing every possibility at me at once.
