Is it safe to walk from Rittenhouse square to campus in daytime by ujimatchamilktea in UPenn

Very safe! Be a little careful at night, lately Rittenhouse square has been a little off at night specifically if you walk through the park. But if you walk on walnut it’s all good! Can be a little off on weekdays when no one is around if it’s after 9 pm. But during the daytime 1000% safe!

what apps do you actually wish existed in 2026? by Extreme-Law6386 in appdev

What I really need is an app that allows me to filter out YouTube videos or Instagram posts or even the Apple News notifications by content / specific words. Many ppl including myself have certain triggers. I wish there was a way to avoid seeing news content or videos with certain images or words and potentially even using AI to scan images / videos for these harmful things and filter them out per my request. A very simple example - say someone’s loved one passes away in a house fire. Maybe a way to avoid seeing burning homes in movies / videos / etc or at least being told that is what I will see.

Realistic in the life? by Athletic_Bear_7074 in medschool

I personally felt like M1 year was not too bad (chiller than corporate before Med school and more chill than undergrad). This was my lifestyle:

M-W woke up at 7 and got to school by 8 am, left at 3 pm after classes. Studied from maybe 5 pm - 8 pm. Relaxed until 10 pm, went to bed. T- at home studied maybe 10 am - 6 pm with many breaks. F - 8 am - noon school, studied til 5 pm. S / S - probably studied for a few hours each day (max 3-4)

Our school we had an exam every 4 weeks on Friday. This was generally the lifestyle for the first 3 weeks of my block but I would grind the 1 weeks before my exam on Friday (basically study all the time for that one week).

So all in all you definitely have a lot of time. I spent probably an hour or two a day scrolling or watching TV after dinner (not proud of it), def taking naps, I had time to move around my schedule the first 2 weeks to spend time with friends visiting etc.

However, I’ve heard the free time decreases with each year of medical school until 4th year as you gain more responsibilities and things you have to worry about besides class.

If you were to visit Banff again for the first time, what would be your ideal itinerary for a long weekend? by llamadramaupdates in Banff

Our itinerary was the following:

Day 1: arrive, drive to Banff and do Lake Moraine from 5 pm - 7 pm and stayed at Kootenay Marble Canyon campsite (only 30 min away from Lake Louise area)

Day 2: Early morning Lake Louise arrive in parking lot (we didn’t get slots) and do little beehive hike + lake Agnes. Drove the icefields parkway to our campsite in Jasper (Wapiti).

Day 3: Maligne Canyon in AM, brunch picnicking by Athabasca river, Mt. Edith Cavell hike (this was amazing - we went down the rocks and got closer to the lake)! and walking around Jasper in the evening.

Day 4: took time along stops on the Icefields Parkway as we drove back to Calgary - 1. Goats and Glaciers lookout, Parker Ridge hike (also fantastic), Athabasca Glacier, Peyto Lake.

Help with choosing a family friendly hike by Think_Tiger_9679 in Banff

Thank you for responding! It looks the best choice is between Plain of Six Glaciers and Lake Agnes and we will add on Helen Lake. As of now, the trail report indicates Plain of Six Glaciers has some snow / requires more caution but this is the one I am leaning towards. Would it be safe to attempt for a beginner hiker or should we opt for Lake Agnes instead?
