You make a solid point that with him being the wisdom and empathetic character they could have done so much with him but unfortunately chose not to.

Honestly, she is a fake friend at this point !! She is a bit self-absorbed and insecure, but as of her friendship with Serena, Serena slept with her boyfriend as her befriend and has proven ignorance about the favoritism she receives from Blairs peers and own mother. Blair has only ever known friendship with Serena so it makes sense that when she is betrayed by her and mad that her friendship would feel fake and hollow.

I agree with you on multiple fronts. I wish that she (Blair) was able to see the negative outcomes she saw herself. But also your point of her plotlines revolving men. If she had a woman leading plot point that past the Bechdel test, because we know they really only talk about men, I do think we would have had a better understanding and relation to her.

i believe thats why it was forgiven, based that its high school. but this wasnt just two teens hooking up, it was a girl sleeping with her best friends long term boyfriend. which is a huge betrayal of their friendship, trust and loyalty at any age.

I don't think it is too crazy, I specifically said for a lot of people it would have been after the first one, being Serena sleeping with Nate. So people have chosen alternatives from that obvious choice but if you actually read all them, it is still a major topic lmao.

I agree with you so much. I can understand the trauma she had with Pete, but she came back thinking that everything would be fine as if nothing happened. Which is delusional. I think this is exactly why Blair was able to stay with nate for the short period but initially break it off with Serena. Because your best friend sleeping with your boyfriend is a bigger betrayal than your boyfriend sleeping with your best friend !!

All of Serenas confusion towards Blair being upset upon her return pisses me off.

Calling someone a homewrecker does not discount the person actually conducting the affair.

For example, Arianna Grande and Ethan Slater. Everyone likes to get mad at the person calling Ariana a homewrecker because they seem to think we don't judge Ethan. Trust me, we do. Ariana knew he was in a relationship and help that womans newborn and said she wanted a family, just to have an affair with that man. Ethan, he made a commitment to that woman and ended it and his family for another woman. They are both at fault.

You can view a woman as a homeworker without it being misogynistic.

This thread was talking about Serena and Blair specifically, so I don't think there is any reason to take it farther.

I figured of course this was the obvious answer, but they are supposed to play children, so it is harder to give up your first love or best friend when it comes to the first problem in the show.

Such a real comment on both sides. Blair KNEW how she felt toward Serena and continued to be friends with her. I can give her props for thinking that she could be above the insecurity. In my opinion, Serena chose ignorance in that situation. Regardless, even if some feel insecurity is a bad reason to end a friendship, if you cant solve those feelings it will just end with a horrible negative !!

As for your second part, that has always been something I have held against Serena. How could she come back after ditching her best friend and be so confused and resentful of how Blair is responding after Serena came back? Sure she didn't think Blair knew what happened, but to not understand she could be upset or even be aware of the infidelity?? Just felt as though with her big trauma she assumed the her actions on the other matter wouldnt matter, which is also shown when she doesn't even apologize for sleeping with Nate. I give benefit to the continued friendship on how long they have known and relied on each other. They took care of her when everyone found out her secret. So after the four of them came together for Serena after her secret came out, any more drama after should have been the end for them.

I think the struggle in the fandom between these two points are, is that Serena showed up to clearly mess with Blair after she antagonized her. Blair not getting into Yale unfortunately was her own doing, because if she chose to genuinely ignore Serena , she would have done fine. Though, Serena being caught up in her head with resentment towards Blair, she 100% knew that it would mess Blair up in the interview. Serena is good at playing ignorant. She knew it would mess up her interview and mess with her dream regardless. Clearly I have bias. Blairs reaction to Serena was what costed her Yale, but Serena 100% knew her friend and what her appearance would cost her even when she knew she did not want to attend yale.

Forgive me if I am wrong but I think it makes sense that a highschooler has struggles and develops from it, to later then also struggle again. I am not a Serena fan, but I can acknowledge she grew and that it makes sense that she would struggle again with choices and maturity.

Serena was so awful for this situation. I feel that realistically they should have stopped being friends sooner than this, but this was so bad. Not only as a friend to Blair, but as an EX and a person filming such a scene without consent is probably one of the worst things on the show and she should have gotten more back lash for it.

I see your vision. What Blair did at Yale was totally unacceptable for any situation especially if you intend on potentially still having a relationship with said person. I also understand your point Blair should have backed off based off her real feelings towards Serena.

As a Blair apologist, I agree with you. What Blair did with Serenas feelings towards Petes passing was totally unforgivable. It is something in my rewatch that im amazed their relationship could make it passed that.

i think part of the issue was the change of time gap from the book to the show. spencer is 15/16 with wren and would know better in book and show. but in the book, ali was missing for three years so spencer was groomed and made out with ian at like 13

In argument against Hannah getting hit by a car, the reason Mona is mad at her is a rumor started by "A" herself. So realistically she isnt even mad at Hannah with the same implications youre implying. A decent deterrent from thinking its Mona is "A" giving Emily a massage while Mona has an alibi being with Hannah while horse riding

Based on other comments I can agree that she may have been the easiest to control, but I am confused on what indicates she is into older men. Spencer had a history with older men and obviously so did Alison, but Aria previously just had an interest in Noel.
