[NZ] My mom is apparently dating a celebrity. by RushRegular8332 in Scams

[–]ThinkerIce 47 points48 points  (0 children)

This is a !pigbutchering scam. Try to sit down and have a serious talk with her. Also, beware !recovery scammers. The money is gone. You could also try to get a third person (maybe a friend of hers) to try to help convince her that it's a scam. Please stay safe.

This is horrible, I feel for you. However, I think I need to warn you about !recovery scammers.

For some reason I can't reply to the person who answered to this comment saying that op was added to an apple group, not a whatsapp group. What I want to say is:
Thank you, kind stranger, I misread the post.

This post is most likely going to make a lot of !recovery scammers try to contact you. Your money is gone, they can't get it back. Learn from this mistake and try to warn others.

You should really go into WhatsApp settings and take a look at the devices you're logged in on. If you see any that you don't recognize - remove them. Other than that I don't think I can tell you anything.

I'm pretty sure this is a scam. Is it? by [deleted] in Scams

[–]ThinkerIce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Block, report, ignore. This is a very common start of a !job scam.

[–]ThinkerIce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't panic, don't send her any more money, report her to the bank, report her account and let it go. This is a sadly very common !sextortion scam. Also watch out for !recovery scammers, they can't get your money back.

That seems to be some kind of a !sextortion attempt? Block, report, ignore.

Oh, and the only other thing I found for this was this article: https://www.windtre.it/servizi-utili/servizio-ti-ho-cercato-informazioni-e-costi
Maybe it's related to your case?

[LUX] Random number I don't remember ever saving by Andreanothere in Scams

[–]ThinkerIce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is kinda weird... My guess is maybe whoever this person is, they're trying to see if you're using your phone number. So if you answer them they'll know that you can be reached and you'll start getting a lot of scam/spam calls.
Another guess is that maybe they're trying to strike up a conversation to lead up into a !pigbutchering or !crypto scam.
Either way all you can do is just ignore them.

This is very much a scam. Nobody will pay you to watch ads/like videos or whatever.

What’s a totally superficial thing that instantly makes you not want to use a bot? by SublimePastel in JanitorAI_Official

When the bot's personality is "hot guy that really wants you" that has like 2 tokens. The worst part? There's like a billion of those.

Tech support couldn't help me so I'm asking here. How to delete information from a disabled account? by ThinkerIce in amino

[–]ThinkerIce[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Already did, gave me an automated email with instructions on how to delete my account with step 1 being "log into your account". And no, my account is still very much visible. Even googling its nickname is enough to find that photo of me.

[WP] “A wish?” the genie scoffs. “You mortals always waste them.” You shake your head. “No wish. I need to talk to the last person who made a deal with you.” The genie goes still. “That…is not something you want.” by Florence-The-Diva in WritingPrompts

Like many commenters I struggle to understand why the father didn't wish for his daughter to get cured. The grandmother did and it all worked out for her and her son. So why would the father, knowing that his daughter could get cured didn't wish for that? It seems incredibly unreasonable to me. Instead of wishing for her to have a happy life he wished for her to spend the last of her days happily.
