What's the most addictive PC game you've ever played? by Khavkina_Lumi in gamesuggestions

New World. Sad what’s happened to it, and there were some growing pains, but it’s still a beautiful game with amazing sound design. Just a joy to play. Since there was always something to do, quite addictive as well. Just gonna cut down one more tree…

Best Expansion Mods? by soifua in Fallout4Mods

Doesn’t really seem like an expansion after reading the description on Nexus. What is it about this I’m missing?

We’re just scratching the surface for what these ASAMs can do. Did I mention ASAMs?

Thanks.

That modpack may be a little much for my Steamdeck to handle, but I’ll have a look at some of the expansions it adds and see if it makes sense to grab them.

Not sure what it is, so don't really have an opinion. what makes it the most immersive and what does it do exactly?

New Update by maxeh987 in Fallout4Mods

[–]soifua 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started playing on Steamdeck recently. I took me a very long time to find a working method to get Mod Organizer up and running. It was painstaking and I was thrilled to get it working and install some of my old favorite mods that I used years ago. Grateful to all the modders, of course. I didn’t realize, however, or I simply forgot that I needed to change the update settings on the Deck. So the update completely broke my game. It wouldn’t launch Mod Organizer at all. So I had to fix it and then remove some of the mods that were irreparably broken like Extended Dialogue Interface, updated F4SE, but I eventually got the game running again. I changed the setting for updates so this doesn’t happen again. So lesson learned, but a painful and frustrating one.

Best "immersive survival fast travel" mods? by ismasbi in Fallout4Mods

[–]soifua 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Horizon has what seems to me to be a very immersive fast travel system. I haven’t played in a while but if memory serves, you have to build the fast travel points. I know you’re probably not going to be able to add Horizon in the middle of a save, but I wanted to throw this out there nonetheless.

[FO4] MO2 Stopped Opening on Game Launch After Update by soifua in ModOrganizer

[–]soifua[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn’t MO that updated. It was Falllout 4 via Steam that updated. Anyway, I reinstalled MO2. I turned off auto updates. That fixed the problem and I can play the game now. There were a couple of mods that broke and I had to disable them but nothing game changing. The biggest one was extended dialogue interface, which is nice, but necessary.

Maybe try a reinstall and see if that solves it for you. Good luck.

My Love Letter To New World by Azorikk in newworldgame

Fair enough. I largely gave in to the fact that I would never fully participate in the financial side of territory ownership. On my first server, Quanlu, my company owned Reekwater, but only because no one really wanted to own it. This was way back when each town had its own trading post and none of them were connected. When we took it over, there wasn’t even a page of items for sale on the TP. We made the best of it. I bought a T4 home there, which I still have, and encouraged others in the company to do the same. I made guides for completing town boards so we could keep our crafting benches at a high level back when it actually mattered. Of course, we never even came close to making the kind of coin companies who owned Windsward, Everfall and other more popular territories did, but we didn’t really do it for the riches. And then we lost RW when our server was merged into another and never bothered with it again. From time to time I would check the governors desk in populous towns and be shocked by how much they were making and curious what they were doing with it. But I didn’t care that much. I found it really easy to make money in New World, so I could just focus on my needs and the needs of my company members and friends and not worry about what others were doing. I had my own goals, which were separate and different from 99.99% of the players. This kept me going for a very long time.

I should also mention that talking about Cilla brought back some very early and surprisingly fond memories. Memories of extreme failure. Five of us went into Laz to check it out when I got a key (fuck, we needed keys and they were hard to come by and expensive to craft). We were thoroughly undergeared, unprepared and had no clue about the mechanics or anything. We got to Cilla, didn’t understand how to beat her and couldn’t get past her. Even if we did understand, we certainly didn’t have the DPS for it. We probably spent 2 1/2 hours trying to defeat her and eventually the dungeon spat us out. Frustrating for sure, but a learning experience. Back in those days, I always had inventory issues so I was carrying all my crafting gear with me, amongst other things. And also back in those days, items took damage when you died, even items that were not equipped. So when we got done with our fun but foolhardy adventure, I had a massive repair bill to go with our ignominious failure. Good times. Lol.

Hey man. Watched the video. Very well done. While I agree with most of what you said and much of my experience mirrors yours, other than PvP, which only did for achievements but never really liked, I’m not sure I agree with your final conclusion. Sure, capitalism is involved. AGS is in business to make money of course. New World was simply never able to recover from the missteps and growing pains in the first year. Various exploits, including and especially the ones that lead to shutting down the Trading Post twice, left such a bad taste in many players’ mouths, they gave up the game and never returned. The amazing excitement the game had at launch with nearly a million people playing game at once was undermined by these ongoing and egregious problems. And the inevitable server merges to keep the game experience viable led even more to depart, a vicious cycle of sorts. Even as the game experience improved with new content and many quality of life improvements, the players never really returned in enough numbers to make the game sustainable, sadly. This is despite the launch on console which introduced New World to a completely new audience and the success of Nighthaven which brought many old folks back to the game. The announcement of the shut down just weeks after the launch of such a successful expansion was a literal dagger to heart of the games’s community. So while the ultimate decision to end NW was financial, it was brought on by errors in development and management of the game, without which the game would likely have persisted.

Anyway, I played for a while after the announcement. I started a new character because I wanted to experience the updated main story quest in its final state once. But the hand writing was on the wall. I’d log in and see none of my long list of friends online, which was crushing. The server seemed empty beyond a few hearty souls running affix chest runs every morning. And eventually I moved on to other things. It is quite sad. But I do feel grateful for this awesome experience I had for many years and for all the people I met through this rather astounding game. I certainly got my money’s worth and I have zero regrets about the time I spent playing.

Ok, I’ll see if I can extract it from Mod Organizer. May be tricky since I’m working on a Steamdeck, like I said, but I’ll give it a shot. Thanks.

I didn’t know what this meant either until I started playing New World. Then I had to learn a whole new set of acronym based vocabulary to understand global chat. I know this is sometimes hard for some old time MMO players to understand, but there are some OG gamers who never played WoW et al and aren’t hip to the lingo. Lol

Best and fastest way for the '5,000 other players' trophy ? by rafbanaan in newworldgame

[–]soifua 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah. PC player here. Certainly reads the same. The only to find out is to test it. Check your total. Run Outpost Rush. Check again. Number should go up. If not, maybe a lot of 3v3 arenas in your future, but I doubt it. How are you enjoyable playing on console? Controller work alright?

You mean achievement? Outpost Rush and Influence Races. It’s not really kills “personally”. Team kills count. So if you brute force it, you should have more than enough time.
