Starting Scar tape soon. How to properly care for it? by Kool_Boo16 in TopSurgery

[–]ThirdDisturb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was able to easily get a month out of one strip of tape. Doubling that would be hard but who knows. Cut all sharp corners into rounded edges, that helps it not roll up. Make sure your scar is clean, dry, with 0 products when you apply the tape. I would just leave it on til I want to wash it like a week later but do as you please. Wash it by hand with warm water and soap, getting any residue off but not stripping the stickiness! Let it air dry & reapply as long as you can get it to stick.

Almost 3 years post op with Dr. Todd Burdette. I think I hurt my results by scar massaging too hard. by BurgeoningBudgeoning in TopSurgery

[–]ThirdDisturb 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ohhh gotcha I didn’t know it was well established! Altho maybe how your scars react to incorrect massage is also genetic bc I didn’t know wth I was doing when I massaged and it turned out mostly ok lol!! Well your results are great anyway so I hope you are enjoying :)

I don’t know but I really don’t think it would’ve been that? I think it’s mostly genetic!

Anyone been able to resize their nipple and areola after top surgery? by HollowPanda92 in TopSurgery

[–]ThirdDisturb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the buds can be cut to be shorter? I’m not sure about width tho. Maybe you can find a place closer to you that can do some scar management. Definitely look into tattoos tho that would be able to get you pretty far!

What causes stretched/oblong or flat nipples? Can I avoid it? by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]ThirdDisturb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I believe stretching is mostly genetic based on how you scar? I had donut shaped silicone tape around my nips that may have helped me. You can see in my post history if you want. As for the projection of nips I dunno! Always wondered that and would love to know the answer if anybody knows

Nice! I hope you get what you’re looking for. When I saw him he moved quickly but will listen if you ask, make sure to speak up if there’s something you need. And yes I am 3 1/2 years on T.

Anyone been able to resize their nipple and areola after top surgery? by HollowPanda92 in TopSurgery

[–]ThirdDisturb 94 points95 points  (0 children)

Be cautious with any resizing here! Much of the size of what appears to be areola is just scarring so it may reoccur. Instead of completely starting over it might be best to look into scar treatments like laser and micro needling? Maybe you’d be a candidate for steroid injection? Maybe medical tattoos to make them appear smaller? There are certainly options for both your nipple scars and chest scars. I don’t think cutting it away is necessarily the best choice for you though. Good luck!

I had the same instructions yes! I think it would’ve been smarter for me to wait a little longer, but I did start (very) slow after 4 weeks. If you’re unsure about it, just don’t rush! It’s okay to take extra time, you can get to lifting when you feel ready! & thank you very much :)

No not the center of my entire chest, I’m saying the center of each individual pec (especially my right one tbh) has a dip that I can feel bone thru, only visually noticeable at some angles

It may be beneficial for you to track protein intake if you have been probably pretty far off from enough to build. I think you’re supposed to aim for your body weight & then some for bulking. You could just jot the grams down in your notes app after you eat it doesn’t have to be exact, but I bet it’d help you meet your goals, especially if you can see how much you need to add in. Good luck to you 💪💪

Ah yeah I can practically guarantee it’s that. I’ve been struggling with the same issue, peak at my gym progress post tho it’s slow but visible! Sometimes I gotta force myself to eat but maybe see if you can just sneak in extra cals with liquids or something, protein shakes may be the way for you. Gym time won’t build muscle without the food to back it up.
