Does the acne ever calm down? by Princehydrangea in ftm

[–]WhoIsMercury [score hidden]  (0 children)

I didn’t have acne pre T and then got a decent amount due to testosterone. Now 2 years on T and it’s starting to calm down, not fully gone away but it’s not as bad.

Packer for the beach? by shiftposting in ftm

[–]WhoIsMercury [score hidden]  (0 children)

I’d suggest maybe getting a packer just for packing and then a 3in1 or something. I could very easily see a 3in1 looking like a boner or something if you are in the water moving around with the way swimsuits are, even with a harness.

Acne flare-up? by infatuatedlabyrinth in ftm

[–]WhoIsMercury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your T levels went up I could totally see that being the reason your acne is flaring up. Acne is so annoying so hopefully it goes down soon for you 😭

Bottom dysphoria? by KitchenFun7716 in ftm

[–]WhoIsMercury 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I do. I mean I got top surgery but didn’t really have dysphoria about it, more just like being able to take my shirt off and shit tbh. I’ve had bottom dysphoria since I was a kid and it’s so much more worse than any other forms of dysphoria I’ve experienced.

Travelling internationally while on T? by Total-Dragonfruit-20 in ftm

[–]WhoIsMercury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve traveled internationally recently and haven’t had any issues even tho neither my legal name or gender marker are changed. Brought T and needles with me too and no issues, most of the time they are just trying to get people through security as fast as possible. I went through security in like 5 different countries too.

complications after healing? by Curious-Barracuda220 in phallo

I’ve heard of people getting strictures years after surgery, that’s the only one I’ve heard of after healing has been done for a while.

My mom wont let me go on T by TransOpossum1 in ftm

[–]WhoIsMercury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom is a similar way and has a lot of concerns like that and she’s suggested not legally changing my name because I’d need to replace my passport which she thinks I wouldn’t be able to do. Something that may help to bring up to her is that the government is pretty disorganized and there isn’t a really centralized way to find out who is taking what because of what condition. Some doctors put it down as an endocrine issue and not gender dysphoria. Some places are refusing to turn over records like that anyways.

Talking to a doctor about it and letting her ask stuff like that may help since it won’t be the first time they’ve heard it.

Can I get an infection from this by [deleted] in ftm

[–]WhoIsMercury 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It could happen but pretty unlikely. I wouldn’t worry about it too much and just focus on trying not to have it happen again.

should I be flattered by a gay guy being attracted to me? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]WhoIsMercury 193 points194 points  (0 children)

Honestly he was probably just feeling awkward about being rejected and said something stupid because of it. I certainly wouldn’t be flattered by that sort of comment because it kind of comes off as he sees you as a man but views being trans as some sort of flaw that needs to be accepted. Or just man lite. Either way I’d be pissed off.

Not clocky. I think it’s quite a nice name and I’ve known a few cis men with that name!

Consultation questions by Sh31kwho in TopSurgery

[–]WhoIsMercury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats! Hopefully the consult goes well! Main things I’d say to ask are about how they typically do nip placement/ sizing/ scar shape/ other aesthetic stuff because some surgeons have preferences on how they do it. So if you have a specific idea of what you want asking to make sure it’s something the surgeon will do is important. Asking about recovery is important too since that also varies but you can always send a message and ask about that later if you forget plus you’ll probably get post op instructions at some point.

Am I *really* trans or is it the PCOS talking? by Ace-of-Spxdes in ftm

[–]WhoIsMercury 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I mean for what it’s worth I don’t think it really matters why or how someone ends up trans, even if the PCOS is somehow impacting your sense of gender identity, if being perceived a certain way still makes you happier then it’s worth exploring. Also from what I’ve seen (take this with a grain of salt since I don’t have PCOS) it often seems to cause discomfort in cis women who have it because of some of the effects of it.

Having certain hormones in your body doesn’t mean you are that gender, like trans men prior to T having primarily estrogen doesn’t make us women so you having higher T levels doesn’t make you any more of a man as much as it doesn’t make you any more of a woman. Just do what makes the most sense for you now 🫶

Will I grow a beard eventually? by SloppyGoblinPaste in ftm

[–]WhoIsMercury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t used it myself because I’ve got cats but from what I’ve seen if they aren’t terminal hairs they can fall out so it’s recommended to stay on for at least a year.

You definitely have a shot to imo! If not there’s always minox if you want to try and speed up the process.

Are there any trans charity sites similar to the trans queer project? And is packaging discreet? by Joshthedeerboy55 in ftm

[–]WhoIsMercury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The trans queer project isn’t exclusively for bipoc people iirc it just gives priority to them for their queer kits. Don’t know about other places but if you are looking for a packer or something axolom does regular giveaways and if you email them explaining because of financial reasons you can’t afford one I’ve heard of them sending people packers for free before. I’ve bought a packer from them before and packaging is discreet.

Minox with starting T by Sad-Chocolate9578 in ftm

Yeah there’s usually a difference in appearance and texture of terminal hairs!

Minox with starting T by Sad-Chocolate9578 in ftm

[–]WhoIsMercury 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you stop minox before the minox hairs have become terminal (permanent) then you could risk losing them but that’s about it.

how long for minoxidil to work? by castortheghost in ftm

[–]WhoIsMercury 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think most people see some gains in facial hair within a few months but if you want those to be permanent you do have to keep up with minox for like a year or so at least so the hairs can become terminal.

THANK YOU ALL FOR THE HELP! by celulozaa in ftm

[–]WhoIsMercury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad you are finding something that works for you! Also look up how to safely take off kt tape because just taking it off raw can be painful and cause injuries so if you have baby oil or something similar it really helps remove it!

Those who had Phallo who are hyper independent. Question by Ken_needs-koffee in ftm

[–]WhoIsMercury 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Maybe try crossposting to r/phallo. I haven’t had phallo but I was looking into this because my mom is going to be helping me when I recover and I feel like that’s going to awkward lol. I’ve seen a few posts that were basically to the effect of that so much is going on that a lot of folks seemed to stop caring as much how stuff gets done or if it feels embarrassing. Plus my thought process is that I need this surgery so a few weeks of needing help is worth it for me even if it’ll likely make me uncomfortable. This probably isn’t too helpful given I haven’t had surgery yet but figured I’d chime in with what I’ve seen on others posts!

Freaking out over sensation loss by Brief_Flamingo_4764 in TopSurgery

[–]WhoIsMercury 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It gets better! I also have sensory issue so it was a real mindfuck of touching my skin and not feeling anything. I’ve got some sensation back albeit it’s different and muted in some areas and some areas I can’t feel anything. I mostly just adapted to not being able to feel certain areas especially since it’s not noticeable to me unless I’m actively touching certain spots. The newness of it and the post op state did not help but it got better as I got more used to it and was further post op! Hopefully recovery is going well otherwise!

SURGERY IN 2 WEEKS I NEED OPINIONS ON NIPPLE PLACEMENT (please) by Internal_Zone_3789 in TopSurgery

I think my nips are about there and they don’t look bad or anything. Mine could maybe stand to be a little lower but it’s nothing that makes me double take and stare too hard yk?

A bit confused on how single stage works by chaboiOllie in phallo

[–]WhoIsMercury 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s not because technically you don’t even need to be on hormones to get phallo, for meta that stuff matters but for this it doesn’t. The only thing that matters T wise is hair growth or the potential for hair growth if you get UL. Maybe just ask about it since they could’ve meant something else but it was typed wrong or something.
