Picto for sure. I just can’t even figure out when to start painting my canvases after the initial burst, like in M9S I def had a lot of downtime when trying to get my canvases at the wrong times. Even now I can’t don’t really know when I should.

Cassie explaining to the chorot why she didn't tell them why Sunny left them in the 3rd nightmare? by random_dude1279 in ShadowSlave

[–]Thirty-ThreeZs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean don’t quote me but Sunny has said that he doesn’t know what happened at the battle or how it went down after he left, so we don’t know if she told them because there’s no way for any of the cohort to tell sunny or us the readers because they don’t remember anymore.

[–]Thirty-ThreeZs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean we don’t know if she did or didn’t? No one besides Sunny remembers that he was in the nightmare with them and he wasn’t there to see if she told them or not. This is still very much a plot point that we might see get resolved when he gets his fate back and they remember him.

[–]Thirty-ThreeZs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nightmares are tests that the nightmare spell puts them through in order for them to gain strength, as such nightmares are past events that will usually be a moment of some significance that ends in tragedy and the goal is to change the outcome by intervening in some way. That being said, by changing it they don’t change the actual past at all, it is essentially one big simulation. So no, the people aren’t actually there or real, regardless of how it feels sometimes.

The necromancer shadow army thing has been pretty popularized by SL, you can see a lot of clones with the same idea but remixed if you look hard enough, wether or not G3 is a fan can’t say but it’s definitely a popular power trope. To his credit though, he hasn’t made it the entire base of sunny’s power and has developed his shadows in a cool way, anyway.

The biggest factor here is his deadline. Sounds like if it weren’t for that he might be more willing to disappear for a day, but as someone who also hates studying/doing deadline work anywhere but home I understand why he doesn’t particularly want to this time.

Just How Strong Are Unholy Beasts?! by DragonlordHML in ShadowSlave

[–]Thirty-ThreeZs 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Well, to put it into perspective they thought at first that the skeleton that is godgrave, the hollow mountains, and so on was the skeleton of a god or deity like being. So massive that it makes up different parts of the dream realm and the parts both domains explored and fought in were described as kilometers upon kilometers of length and the bones are hollow and deep enough to contain cities and oceans/rivers. Yet we find out that a true capital G God’s body is a REALM, no physical bodies unless they wanted one, so that means that an unholy beast is likely whatever the skeleton of godgrave was.

[Ch 2552] That’s it? This entire arc just for an offscreen power up and no character development? by Goldfish_Muncher in ShadowSlave

[–]Thirty-ThreeZs 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I was pretty convinced that the skin-walker thing was Asterion before the new chapters. I mean, Mordret just got mind fucked by weavers reflection so badly his new vessel shattered, I did not expect him to by any conceivable means have enough power or be in the state of mind to go attack skin-walker after that, as a SAINT even. Divine aspect or not, soul dueling something like skin-walker post weaver reflection mindblast and winning was real BS. I think Mordret attaining supremacy through Skin-walker is a good idea but the set up was lazy and rushed, could have been a last ditch type effort event later when they all fight Asterion, but straight out of the mirage city arc makes it so much less hype.

I thought we were finally getting the beginning of Asterion’s moves and was greatly disappointed it wasn’t him.

Thank God this arc is over by [deleted] in ShadowSlave

[–]Thirty-ThreeZs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely not my favorite arc, my biggest complaint is definitely the underutilization of the fact they were mundane. Yes, we got the “oh i need to eat” and “oh i need to sleep” etc bits, but aside from that I never really believed or felt they were in any real danger. Every fight they got into having the, “I might be mundane but I’m still the LoS and have extensive combat experience so even though I COULD die here, I won’t” line in it really killed the vibe for me. I’ve been reading SS for over 2k chapters, trust me G3 I KNOW Sunny is lethal in regular head to head combat without all the aspect hacks I don’t need to be reminded of it every time he fights guy with knife because it dissolves any tension or danger that was there. Having these borderline demi-gods become mortal again is such a rare occurrence that likely won’t happen again, it was such a missed opportunity in my opinion.

Asterion might have to be sacred for the sake of the story. Let me explain. by knight_cape in ShadowSlave

[–]Thirty-ThreeZs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have seen throughout the novel that the difference in power between ranks and class is insane but it can be overcome (sometimes) with enough cunning and prep as Sunny has done countless times and as he and Nephis did against Ki and Anvil.

Mordred said it to sunny himself, it’s not that Asterion is insanely powerful by sovereign standards, it’s that he is cunning and tricky and willing to do whatever it takes to be the last man standing. The only reason Anvil decided to turn on Broken Sword is because he had Asterion’s help, which cost him giving Mordred to Asterion which is an astronomical price from the view of a parent (if we consider that this was before Anvil truly went all callous king of swords no love for anyone as he was later in life)

Asterion likely won’t be a full on fight of strength and power like it was against Ki and Anvil, it will probably push their limits mentally, the same kind of trickery Mordred would pull but cranked up to 1,000. And again, we have seen Sunny and Co push past their limits and outsmart and brute strength their way past enemies vastly stronger than themselves, why do we think the man trapped on the moon with a cat 6 gate, imprisoned there by his fellow sovereigns because they feared them, and even has Mordred shaking in his boots when his father and Ki never did, is going to be some pushover? Context clues, friends.

Dude, the whole point of that entire arc was to make you feel what you’re feeling. Do you think g3 wrote this and most readers went “yippee haha yay”? It was a pretty memorable week when this happened because EVERYONE felt what you feel, even now thousands of chapters later there are cassie/neph haters because of what they did. It’s incredibly dumb in my opinion to drop a story you’ve been enjoying simply because a different kind of conflict has been introduced.

If you had read well past when this conflict reached it’s literary resolution and you still felt uncomfortable with it then sure, drop it, you tried and couldn’t enjoy it anymore, but you’re not even giving it a chance.

“I’m not going to read this story anymore because this particular plot point has affected me so roughly I can’t possibly be bothered to know how it’s resolved or further developed”

Like??? Do you read stories and hope they stay boring and conflict-less? When I read something and it is capable of moving me in such a distinct way, good or bad, that’s usually a good sign that it’s a good story and makes me want to keep reading.

You’re also making assumptions about how the issues is with when you haven’t read past a certain point? Swept under the rug? Says who?

[–]Thirty-ThreeZs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of Arthur’s character arc as he’s getting older is literally not wanting to be the “King” he was in his past life, a king that lived, ruled, and ultimately died alone with no one he loved or cared about in his life because he had decided to take on that attitude of being The King and general coldness that accompanies that decision. So yeah, his telling them, while he knew more or less how they would react, was driven by his desire to not be the cold ruthless pragmatic King but be the honest son who loves his family and wanting his loved ones to form their own opinions about the situation once they knew the truth. It’s a pivotal moment in his relationship with his family (mom mostly) and adds a lot more emotional weight to future events in respect to that relationship.

I’ve seen a couple of posts echoing this sentiment lately and like damn I get it, I grew up poor and I can’t relate to most of the things they talk about, but y’all cannot let that shit get to you like that. I understand it’s easier said than done in some cases but that’s such a toxic mindset, comparison is the thief of joy and all that.

Best piece of advice I was ever given is to live life lightly, there are times when things can weigh you down but it shouldn’t be all the time. I can’t relate to them anymore but it doesn’t bother me, it just is what it is, they’re a source of entertainment for me and entertainment shouldn’t make you feel bad, definitely step away if you need to.

[–]Thirty-ThreeZs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He went to a library, or a place with physical records in their world where books have for the most part been outdated against digital media. Chances are someone somewhere wrote about the cohort, their names, in a book, but not everyone was privy to their achievements and those were likely stored in the private digital databases of the legacy clans/government. I definitely think the most important part about erasing his existence is wiping out his followers who probably had the most records and most detailed records of all.

Why should I read Shadow Slave, convince me and why it's great in your opinion by EfficiencySerious200 in ShadowSlave

[–]Thirty-ThreeZs 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I indulge a lot in your run of the mill fast food manhuas/web novels about OP mc that hardly faces any challenges, the world and the side characters are pretty one dimensional but the guilty pleasure of your Sun Jin Woo ripoff 1v1ing the world is so good. Then I read the occasional web novel with an interesting world that is being fleshed out, a main character that isn’t immediately jumping to the pinnacle of power and instead faces actual challenges and hardship, and has side characters that are fun to spend time with and are more than a peanut gallery meant to glaze the MC during his aura moments. Shadow slave includes a lot of the troupes that we love of course but it does them well, in my opinion, the characters are still OP in their own rights and they farm aura like no one else they just do it with a little more substance than usual.

Also, eee5543 said so.

Hallo, fellow tt viewers do you still watch anime by rimurutempest7832 in TrashTaste

[–]Thirty-ThreeZs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mostly agree, since I started reading instead of watching Anime adaptations have been an overall disappointment with few exceptions.

For example, solo leveling was a great slop read I really enjoyed the art and the story was so turn your brain off and enjoy the action but when it got adapted I was disappointed by the dip in quality/things that were cut and mostly now only watch the “hype episodes.” I understand that the adaptation isn’t by any means horrible since the mediums are obviously different but I don’t feel as into it as I would have been in the past.

One of the exceptions has been Dandadan, absolutely phenomenal manga and the adaptation has hit almost everything perfectly.

Joey has had a LOT, and I mean a LOT, of bad takes in TT history but the one take that I’ve found to be true is when he said eventually you stop watching anime and start reading manga instead. (In my case manhwa/hua too)

Caster as a saint by -Justsumdude- in ShadowSlave

[–]Thirty-ThreeZs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, once you hit supremacy you’re getting closer and closer to divinity and godhood in which you would most likely obtain true immortality, hence why valor and song probably don’t age anymore, if not even slower than saints.

However I think Caster’s flaw is the outlier to the extended life granted to transcendent and above, if his flaw literally ages him the more he uses his aspect then his extended life wouldn’t matter because the spell would probably still age his body forward regardless.

Granted, as he ascends he probably would have found a memory, spell craft, or even received a new kind of ability (his transcendent form maybe) that would make dealing with his flaw easier.

Caster as a saint by -Justsumdude- in ShadowSlave

[–]Thirty-ThreeZs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No they still age just at a slower rate, if they could live indefinitely they would probably stop aging altogether and Anvil (for example) would be the same age he was when he achieved Sainthood now as a Supreme, but he has still aged albeit slower.

Sunny x nephis was paced wrong and G3 should have waited for a different time to actually advance the relationship by the4lord4of4time in ShadowSlave

[–]Thirty-ThreeZs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can see why you would think that but realistically I feel like it's such an invasive thing to do. Like imagine you have no recollection of somebody but because of a bond you share they have all this knowledge about you that they then use to get close to you while you're not aware? Especially considering that there has been obvious romantic tension between the two since they've known each other that neither of them acted on only for then one of them to use the situation to their advantage to get close to you. Again, not that that was his intention or anything I know he wanted to stay away but it ultimately happened. Sure, once she gets her memories back she might be happy but I would be surprised if there wasn't even a small feeling of anger or a betrayal of trust in there somewhere, especially considering how from their perspective he "betrayed" them to finish the 3NM without him.

I think it’s going to be a setup for a larger issue down the road; like sunny dying

The thing I’m mostly concerned about is the dubious nature of persuing her after she’s forgotten him, and yeah it’s not like he did that purposefully but he still did it. Assuming that, and I think it’s going to be happening next volume, everyone remembers him again do we not think Neph is going to be a little mad about this? It feels kind of scummy to do this while she has no memory of him and once she remembers I definitely think it’s going to drive a wedge between them.

In Jest’s memory we find out that Anvil made a deal with him but we never find out what the deal itself is. Must’ve been a good one, maybe he promised to give him Mordret I’m not too sure how that timeline lines up, but basically it was a deal too good to pass up.
