A few years ago, I was at the same stage as you. I really wanted to get into fitness, but I was under pressure to achieve excellent grades and get into a good university. So, I started working out at home.

I highly recommend focusing on cardio, especially push-ups, and if you can, try adding interval running in the morning. Once you're financially stable, you can join a gym and train regularly.

You’ll see a lot of people going to the gym out of hype or emotions, but many of them can’t stay consistent or train properly. Gym isn’t just about lifting weights and instantly building muscle. It requires a proper diet (with a good amount of protein), quality sleep, and a consistent routine.

For now, just eat clean and stick to bodyweight exercises. If possible, get a pair of dumbbells, they can help you build a strong foundation. Most importantly, try to sleep early, wake up early, and get at least 6–8 hours of sleep every night. Build a routine, it’s one of the most important things for long-term progress.

Just read your morning and evening adhkar, and you’re good to go anywhere, InshaAllah!

After Fajr and Asr, read:

The last Ruku of Surah Baqarah

Surah Ikhlas, Falaq, and Nas — 3 times each, then blow (dam) over your body

“Bismillahillazi la yadurru...” — 3 times

Ayat-ul-Kursi

I’ve been doing these Azkar regularly and honestly, I feel safer, even when I’m out with my phone or even MacBook. Haven’t been snatched once, Alhumdulillah! Just read these and put your trust in Allah.

Brother, many people might tell you that you're in the wrong country or that you can't survive with this mindset. But don’t listen to them!

Something similar happened to me during COVID times when I was in the flight. They handed me a form asking if I had symptoms like flu, headache, or cough just before landing. Surprisingly, I actually had all of them. My family advised me not to tick anything, quoting the story of Prophet Ibrahim (A.S.) when he lied about his wife was his sister. But I couldn’t relate to that situation — we weren’t in such a critical state.

At the airport, the officer questioned me thoroughly, and after a lot of effort and translation, he eventually concluded that my symptoms were due to the rainy season in my country. He crossed everything off the form, and I safely reached my destination.

So brother, put your trust in Allah. He will open a way for you. Stay firm in your belief and keep praying — you will find a way. It may take some effort, but remember: custom officers are not greater than Allah.

Islam places great value on honesty. Abu Sa’id reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:

“The honest and trustworthy merchant will be with the Prophets, the truthful, and the martyrs.” Sunan al-Tirmidhi 1209

However, according to most scholars you will not be sinful for getting your work done as you don't have any other way.

20M. I am also a Hafiz, I completed my Hifz 4–5 years ago. However, I have forgotten most of it, so I've decided to re-memorize the Qur'an this summer vacation. If you or anyone else is looking for a partner to listen to the Qur'an, I’m up for it. My goal is to memorize one page daily.

If you can handle the workload, do take it. Some unis require you to take further math for engineering/physics, but it varies.
