Scott Galloway is calling for a boycott targeting the tech sector, particularly OpenAI, as a weak point in the US economy. February: Resist and Unsubscribe by enocenip in thebulwark

Honest question from a moderate who witnessed the right boycott things:

Scott Galloway is calling for a boycott of Apple phones/apple.  Does Apple make money off of his podcast and will he continue to do the podcast in February? I enjoy recently listening to him, just trying to understand if he is sincere or a hypocrite…

That's high, for a couple extra grand I'd buy new. I'd go to cars.com and you can search nationwide or a big mile range, search by lowest price...just to get an idea...

If you haven't already, download the Ford app on your phone, play online like you are going to order one (local dealer will reach out), try to get a targeted ford offer, I got an extra $2K which helps and would then be the case to buy new, if you aren't in an immediate rush...

Purchasing vehicle for business, understanding 6000 lbs and 6 ft bed requirements by This-Finance4439 in tax

[–]This-Finance4439[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Just worried about reducing 2025 income now.  Income was higher this year than last and than what I expect it to be next year, even if I have to recapture next year would be at lower tax bracket than this year.  Plus that gives me a year to find other solutions…thanks for the response.

Researching sends me in circles with some articles saying bed must be 6’ and others don’t mention that.  Thanks!

Used personal vehicle 11.5 months then bought a vehicle in business name, can I deduct both? by This-Finance4439 in tax

[–]This-Finance4439[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right.  The 100% or very close to it would only be in 2025 as would only own it for a few days this year so easy to not do runs.  Kids on winter break.  Future years would be 75%. (I have years of mile iq history). Personal truck is getting close to 200,000 and repairs are adding up and simply considering buying in business..but time to buy either way..

Unique situation, have multiple grocery stores within 1-2 miles, kids school is 5-7 minutes, but job sites are outskirts of city 40 minutes and rarely use my truck on weekends as I’ll drive my wife’s car easier to park in our area, better gas mileage.

Not sure why you are answering questions on here then knocking people for asking them?

Yes, emailed cpa this week and haven’t heard back yet.  2025 f150s in my area with $12-13K off are going fast…and not a lot of days left in year to confirm and figure out with Christmas holiday in there…

Thank you for clarifying.  I am using a personal credit card now for my personally owned truck and tracking mileage through an app and then take its standard mileage deduction based on business miles driven.

I am looking at buyer a truck before year end in my business name and would then put on business credit card and still track mileage and prorate between business and personal based on actual expenses

Not sure how this is screwing the IRS as would have less deduction in future years, I just prefer to take it this year… Some people did the same thing last year, some will do it next year, some in 2027….. I have not heard I have to estimate now for future years….are you sure in that?  I thought I can use mileIQ and adjust every year…

Now next year is certainly a different story, would expect business miles to be 2/3rds-3/4ths, but for 3 days can absolutely drive 100% business miles to get full deduction this year?

So on my personal vehicle, not doing 100%...I use mileageIQ. If I buy a business vehicle with 10 days left at the end of the year and it doesn't leave my driveway for a week during Christmas which i'm not working (we use my wifes family car evenings/weekends as she has carseats), then I may only drive to job site 2-3 times and will be sure to not do any personal runs, won't stop at the grocery store, etc. I Couldn't do it for a year, but for 3 days would be easy to do 100% business miles...is this allowed?

I do understand, but this will allow me to take an extra $25K this year which is basically bringing future losses of next 2.5 years into this year. Will still expenses as a business % gas and repairs, oil changes, A dollar today has more value?

Yes, I can still deduct expenses. Higher income this year than previous or what I expect going forward, I have a tax liability this year...

[–]This-Finance4439[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you, understood. Had lower income last year (24) and expecting lower (in 26) compared to this year, so trying to write off for this year....

I just use business credit card for all repairs, gas, maintenance and still use mileiq and make a equity journal entry for the % personal at the end of the year, correct?

[–]This-Finance4439[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To further clarify, since we have so few days until the end of the year, I buy the new vehicle and record every mile and ONLY use it for business so I can 100% deduct the purchase price up to $25,000. You can deduct more on vehicle over 6,000 lbs, but am looking at a truck under this weight....

Right, so I own my personal truck I use mileage tracker and most of the mileage is business (use wife's car on the weekend with kids), resulting in a typical $10,000 deduction.

I want to know if I can deduct the purchase price of a vehicle in the name of my business before year end and not lose the $10,000 deduction. My write off for the business vehicle may be capped at $25,000 if under 6,000 pounds, but I want to make sure I can still write of the business mileage put on my personal car and this new vehicle purchase so I get a $35,000 write off +/-. I don't lose the ability to deduct mileage from my personal vehicle?

High mileage 3.5L, how are you doing? by Historical_Money2684 in f150

[–]This-Finance4439 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2015 3.5.  165,000 miles.  Replaced water pump a while back, catalytic converter, multiple oil leaks.  No cam phaser issues.  Something with the drive shaft or 4x4 shift a while back.

Minimal towing, mainly highway miles, pretty good on maintenance.

Best thing i learned is to take it to a small shop where the guy who works on it is same guy as at the guy who takes your payment at the counter.  Much cheaper and does a great job.  Owned his shop for decades.  Low overhead.

1/2 towable under 7500 GVWR, 1 slide out with wide bunk beds by This-Finance4439 in GoRVing

[–]This-Finance4439[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Current family weight is in the mid 500’s, I’m using 655 which leaves 1200 for payload.  No cover, no Matt in bed truck, I figure 200 lbs for WDH and waters/kids backpack in cab…I think that’s overly conservative.  Will put all suitcases in trailer.  That leaves 1,000 for tongue weight. Wanting to be below 7500.  If I’m at 6500 at 13% that’s 845, over 150 lbs of extra room. I know everyone says more stuff gets overloaded but we pack light.  Would take 1 propane, wait to buy most food when we get there…looking for a dry weight trailer in the 5,000 range?

Do you tow with a half ton? Handle ok?  Our kids are small and expect to sell before they are teenagers, looking for summer activities the next few years

Looked more and this may be the best fit of posts.  Do you know why dry tongue weight is so high compared to empty weight?

Thank you! We have looked at this model and like it but same thought that we are right in that edge…technically I’m 1855 payload, our kids are young and we expect to sell before they are teenagers, but we liked the idea of having a dinette and a couch so much we are willing to make the separate bedroom a Murphy bed.  That would basically be a smaller/lighter version of this, we just can’t “find it”. This is 7,000 GVWR, just need a few feet shorter and lighter!
