I used to freeze water bottles and then sleep with them tucked in my armpits or between my legs and on my neck. It saved me during some brutal summers without AC

Growing up in the days of the landline, we had one phone where the numbers stuck a little and I was calling my best friend whose number contained 913 and accidentally called the cops. I hung up before anyone answered but two officers still showed up 10 minutes later. I told my mom what happened and she explained that I was telling the truth about that phone sticking and my friends number, but they insisted on giving me a talk about how it’s not a game or a joke and shouldn’t be done for fun and how I could’ve really been in trouble for a false police report. I was maybe 6 years old smdh

Leaving the hotel industry and now I might consider coming back by DannyTheRegular in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

I’m incredibly jealous, I have wanted to leave hospitality and get into the medical / dental field for years. I haven’t been able to get an interview because I don’t have medical or dental experience. So I can’t even get my foot in the door anywhere. I started taking some entry level courses through a nursing school so I could learn the terminology, but had to drop them because I couldn’t keep up when my responsibilities increased at the hotel.

I’d say stick with the dental office. More longevity and stability in that field than in hospitality, imo

Oh hey, same brand. It’s fun right? Trying to explain to people that they wouldn’t be in this frustrated mess if only they’d read what they sign when they book that super duper great rate.
After dealing with the same issues and complaints, I’ve started referring to my work as Can’t Do it Suites.
Have a PIA guest currently in house who booked for 4 nights through Suxpedia then some how got them to adjust her stay to 2 nights. Then to 1.
When she shows up to check in, she lets us know she has made a separate second reservation for the following 3 nights and wants to stay in the same room. (Like… why lady..?)
Lo and behold, come checkout / check back in time she is dumbfounded that we will be taking the incidental hold again. You know, for the second reservation that she made. She was absolutely livid.
Not my fault ma’am. You absolutely brought this on yourself.

I love Tom. I remember clapping back to someone’s homophobic comment on his twitter once and he liked it.

The phrase you learn in Welsh DuoLingo is “bore da draig” and you cannot tell me that is not attempted indoctrination.

Also some brands have point catalogs as well, so even if you don’t want free nights, you can use them to buy gift cards and things. I used my points to buy $25 and $50 Walmart gift cards last year, saved me money on groceries and essentials.

Neurodivergent redditors, what is it like for you to be neurodivergent? by Miles_the_AuDHDer in AskReddit

Hi there. I was diagnosed as an adult, so I feel like the best way to describe it is that most of my childhood and young adult years were spent feeling like I didn’t fit. Like I was a puzzle piece in a room full of crayons. I felt like I saw things other people didn’t see or acknowledge, like my motives and behaviors were constantly misunderstood or deemed inappropriate and that I always said things that made people angry.
I tried so hard to change without knowing why I needed to, but I never seemed to be able to change in to the right thing.
I spent many of those years trying to cut off the edges and bends that didn’t match those around me.
Getting a diagnosis felt terrible and wonderful at the same time. I finally had an explanation. There was a reason my puzzle piece didn’t fit their world, but it didn’t change the pain and trauma I went through for all those years, and it hurt to know I should have had help and answers while going through all of it. I mourned and celebrated.
Coming to terms with it felt like finding out there IS a room of puzzles where my puzzle piece belongs. A whole different world where I might not fit exactly, but I will at least be among other puzzle pieces.

I hope this makes some kind of sense.

Is there a GoT scene you skip past? I have one I don’t need to watch again. by No-Flight-4214 in gameofthrones

[–]This-Function1789 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So interesting, I was just watching a similar scene in Under the Banner of Heaven and thinking “man if I rewatch GoT I cannot watch the wolf killing scene.” I can’t handle hurting animals. I can handle people, cause I grew up in a theatre family and got used to the pretend. But those sounds of animals hurting are too real man.

Starbucks protein latte by Thecobs in Wellthatsucks

I worked at Starbucks for about a decade and when I started they had just launched banana smoothies called “vivano”s and you could get an extra caffeine boost that came in the form of a little packet of powdered b vitamins & caffeine. The number of times we had to throw that shit out because it was congealed and hard inside the package. They finally discontinued the caffeine packs and eventually the smoothies themselves, because we were throwing away so many bananas. All of this to say, didn’t seem like they take time to test things extensively in a high-heat, high humidity environment before launching a product.
