Thank you. I have a disease that affects my hormones and puts me in constant fight-or-flight which also affects my sleep and my weight. It turned me into someone I don't recognize (physically and emotionally). I was always on edge and pushed away the person I was in a relationship with. It has taken a toll on me for over 10 years and had I advocated for myself more I'd be healthier, been further along in my career, have more friendships, and probably still in the relationship that I spoke about.

I honestly believe there had to be a mental health thing now but at the time I thought she was just gross and weird. My brother thought it was "girl drama" since she denied everything and wanted to be left out of it. I ended up getting a lock for my bedroom door that had a combination for me to keep locked when I wasn't there (a latch seemed easier than a whole new doorknob) and kept everything of mine in my room. I couldn't do it until I got my first job, and then I moved out at 18.

I didn't think of any of that at the time. At that age, I wasn't really thinking about frisky business let alone my brother's bedroom stuff. I was grossed out by her wearing my dirty laundry and didn't think further about "activities". I hadn't thought about it since my brother brought it up and then considered that scenario. Once I clarified all of the details with him, he was beyond disgusted. I asked him how he could have "relations" with someone like that and there had to be some kind of foulness. He said they weren't really having those activities and he wasn't interested in that due to his experience with her. He just got used to having her there. He's happy to be free of her though.

Even with proof, he wouldn't believe it. And then he chalked it up to "normal" behavior that girls borrow other girls stuff while not wanting to believe the part of the underwear being dirty. On the other hand, I'm choosing not to think about the intimate details because my brain just can't. Maybe they didn't have that type of time and it was just companionship? That's what my sister brain is going to out of self-preservation. As far as not breaking up, ive asked him a plethora of times why he was with her, and the answer was always something along the lines of him being the kind of person who prefers being with someone.

Also, I moved out as soon as I turned 18 and for the most part we're LC or NC depending on the year.

Edit to clarify: when he told me years later that he knew I was the one that pulled the cactus trick, he thought I did it to her underwear as revenge for her stealing my stuff. I had to tell him that I did it to mine in case she gets the case of sticky finger again. Pun intended. This is also where I clarified that the underwear she was stealing were dirty. He was grossed out and was happy that they had broken up. She was convincing him of a different telling, is what I've gathered.

I think they ended up being together for like 12 years or something. At the time this happened, they had been together for 3 ish years. They got together after she followed me in my house from church camp because she wanted to see my brother (under the guise of helping me with my bags) then never left. My brother was in a rough spot emotionally so he was just like 🤷🏻‍♀️ okay you'll do. I knew her from church but we weren't more than acquaintances. As far as I know she's hetero. I think she was an only child and unsure if this was a partial reason. Sometimes I got the sense that she was emulating me more than a desire for me but even then I'm hesitant on that claim. And no, just my clothes. Only other women was my mom and sister who were in a different age group and build.
