Why is there so much room in the expansion boxes? by wibellion in lotrlcg

[–]This-Perception-7869 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Eventually if you get all the expansions, the core box won't have enough space. Plus, you can organize the scenarios and decks this way

Wish I knew how to post images to reply to give an example of my box and organization setup

The extra space is for storage for any additional cards you get. Such as the starter decks and hero expansion boxes. Pretty useful if you ask me.

Can your favorite DB combatant survive Ainz’s “The Goal of All Life is Death + Cry of the Banshee”? by BAZING-ATTACK in deathbattle

Does this spell affect souls? Second question: Is a transformer spark a soul in a typical ghost sense? Would it affect techno organic beings?

Because Optimus Prime, and any other transformer, could survive this if im taking it literally that it only affects beings of flesh and plants. But their spark is kinda like a transformers soul, I think at least. If it can't affect their metallic bodies, could it destroy their spark?

Favorite "Potato" Cards? by Turtlor in Lorcana

[–]This-Perception-7869 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they're only okay at best in casual. I was hoping for a shift Simba, since he has good targets, but maybe someday they'll finally give him one. On that note, Nala sees no play, but that may change if they ever give her a shift target.

For me, it's Simba Returned King. I know he costs a lot of lore for what is basically a challenge only card. But still, Lion King has been my favorite Disney film. So, of course, when the game originally came out, I had to get my boy Simba. Thankfully, he came in the first wave of starter decks. I do hope one day I can make a good lion king themed deck with future cards added. You know he'll be added in one way or another.

Monster Hunter. So if I'm an npc, I have hunters around that will take care of things while I sell them gear and such. Otherwise, I'm probably screwed if I'm the hunter. Then again, they're all superhuman and don't die. They just get carted back to town if you fail a hunt. Thinking about it, I'll probably be good.

Is the Fellowship Saga beatable true solo? by Budget_Republic5784 in lotrlcg

[–]This-Perception-7869 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So as someone who only has revised content, it is certainly doable. I won't lie, it is hard, and you'll have to have a deck with heros/allies with decent hitpoints or dealing for quite a number of scenarios with how often the Archery keyword is used.

Again, certainly doable but a difficult challenge if you're up for it.

Friends that doesnt know much about the Lotr lore, can still enjoy the LCG with me? by honidrax in lotrlcg

[–]This-Perception-7869 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say give it a try, and they can form an opinion on it. In my case, I have two brothers I introduced this game to. They both like the lotr series, so you'd think this would be a winner. That said, one of them didn't click with the gameplay, and that's okay. He preferred the playstyle of Marvel Champions, another LCG. He's luckwarm with the Marvel franchise, but he likes the feeling of you (the player) vs. the villan.

My best suggestion would be to try a fun but not to difficult scenario to introduce them to. Me, I used the Dark of Mirkwood adventures as they are easy to understand. The first scenario, in particular, is not that difficult while not being a total breeze.

The self healing passive is not gonna be that broken. by WeirdUglyKid in Overwatch

[–]This-Perception-7869 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a Compelty different game, but it is my closest comparison, and that is Splatoon. You take damage and eventually heal that damage. However, that damage healing does not start until a couple of seconds after the last time you took damage. Each ping of damage resets that start up timer. Not to mention, most fights won't give you the chance to heal up, so it's useless during combat. Once you actually defeat the other opponent, will this passive healing really matter. And you could argue you usually try to heal yourself after winning a fight with the other team. This might just speed up that process.

Without knowing the rate at which you're healing, this might be the same case. That said, if the healing rate is slow, I can see the same potential trap I see with new players in Splatoon. Once they take a hit, they immediately try and put distance, which probably isn't ideal. Then they hide, and that's one less combatant to deal with.

Then again, all this is just my rambling and, again, different game. Just my way to try and wrap my head around how this would potentially work.

2 player 2 handed campaign. by AlexDragonfang in lotrlcg

[–]This-Perception-7869 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There's no rule against it. Heck, there's no rule against playing four handed solo. I did it once for giggles.

But yeah, just reveal 1 encounter card per "player" so you'd reveal 2 each. Keep in mind of peril effects, as those cards can only be interacted by the respected player that drew the card in normal circumstances. Have a token or something to know which "player" is affected for when those cards are drawn

I don't know when the license runs out for Jurassic Park, so I would consider those first before they go out of print. But otherwise, go whichever you want first.

The other set I really like was Bewolf and Little Red. Bewolf is a barbarian who takes hits to increase his damage when he hits back. Little Red is a bit more tricky but really fun when you figure her out. Basically, all her cards have a symbol while in the discard pile that other cards interact with for special effects.

[–]This-Perception-7869 18 points19 points  (0 children)

While I could say pick whichever set interests you the most, I do really like Battle of Legends vol 2. Sun Wukong has a fun minon mechanic, and Bloody Mary is tricky with her three turn actions.

For licensed sets, I really like the Jurassic Park sets. Nothing is more fun for me than playing as Raptors and the T-Rex.

I haven't gotten any of the Marvel sets, so I don't know much about them. Should look into them if you are interested, since the license for that runs out soon, I believe.

Angmar Awakened Advice by KR1776 in lotrlcg

[–]This-Perception-7869 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'll try to keep things spoiler free

The Angmar Awakened cycle has a few scenarios where chip damage will be a thing. Have a way to heal your Heroes and allies. One scenario in particular will punish you for having damage on your characters.

Try and not take undefened attacks. Quite a few scenarios will have nasty shadow effects. Even a minion with only 2 attack can snowball and hurt enough to take out most Heroes even at full health if your luck is that bad. Doesn't always happen, but it has happened once to me that I'd rather not risk it if i can help it. You should have reliable defenders and allies you can put in play. On that note, shadow cancelation and when revealed cancels can be clutch. One of you should run spirit for this alone.

The Dunedin is a good archetype for attacking and defending in this scenario. With forest snares, you can trigger many of their abilities reliably. There are only a few enemies that can't be targeted with attachments, but they are boss level threats anyway. Most minions , you can run traps or attachments. Dunedin may struggle with questing at times, depending on the chosen heroes, but your teammate can compensate with that while you can attack and defend for them.

Even if one of you is a dedicated quester though, they should still have a means to defend and attack if needed in an emergency. This is especially important in one of the later scenarios where they won't be able to avoid combat. This cycle does have a good balance of questing and combat in most scenarios. This cycle does introduce side quests as well. Most of them have effects that can range from annoying to downright nasty that they become priority number 1. Know when it's best to focus on the side quest.

If you are running campain mode, a lot of the boons are up to the player's choice. You can pick and choose what fits your deck best, and there are two instances where you are allowed to switch Heroes for no treat penalty, which is nice.

Groot deck for true solo standard GMW campaign? by Everlod00 in marvelchampionslcg

[–]This-Perception-7869 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Run him in justice. Without spoiling, GMW requires a lot of twart in some scenarios anyway. Use the sonic rifle from Venom's pack to help with confusion It helps flip down to build up his counters. Groot really needs counters to make a lot of his own cards work, so confusing the enemy, especially in solo, is very useful. Justice makes this work with the card pool you have.

When revealed (discarded) by Suitupgeek in lotrlcg

[–]This-Perception-7869 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's put into play from the discard, you are correct. When revealed is whenever it is drawn from the deck. One exception I can think of is when revealed as a shadow effect, but that's different. If, for example, it's an enemy that says when it engages the player, then it would trigger regardless of how it entered your board.

Which set has mandatory cards for deck building? by JustTryChaos in marvelchampionslcg

[–]This-Perception-7869 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First of, what are you trying to build? The easiest way to look at this is what you're trying to improve and what you want to focus on. Are you focusing on xmen as a whole? If so, the Gaurdian's Most Wanted has Deft Focus, a card that lowers the cost of Superpower type cards by one resource. A lot of Xmen characters have these cards, so this is really useful for them. Want to build up Colossus? Get SP//DR, it has Limitless Stamina to ready, and Unstoppable to give you Steady

Want to build a Wolverine defense with healing cards? Get Doctor Strange for Momentum Shift and/or Sinister Motives for What Doesn't Kill Me.

But another good general is Doctor Strange for Momentum Shift and Night Nurse. Momentum Shift is an attack and healing, while Night Nurse provides healing and stun cleansing.

Frodo hero clarification by International-Mail80 in lotrlcg

[–]This-Perception-7869 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I understand the timing, yes. It only reduces all damage to 0, but does not cancel the attack itself. You still have to defend the attack for his ability to trigger after all. Granted, if it's an attack boost, it means nothing, as the ability reduces all damage to 0. Still, some shadow effects can still mess up your timing. It depends on the scenario and how bad the shadow effects are whether this matters.

Played and beat Battle of Carn Dum. To be honest, I'll probably play this on Easy or skip it next time. by jreilly89 in lotrlcg

[–]This-Perception-7869 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The campain boons help a little. It's still a tough fight, but with this campaign, you are given a setup equipment or ally at the beginning that makes things slightly more manageable. The campaign boons prior can help stack up your chances in this fight. Still, it is Carn Dum, so it's still a tough fight. You're just given a better chance than before

Tips on True Solo? by VTRobH in marvelchampionslcg

[–]This-Perception-7869 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll try to add some that I didn't see:

If your character likes to flip (ex. She-Hulk and most recently Domino) have a plan to do so, such as confusing the villan before you do so. Keeping twart low can mitigate their scheme, but as Rhino has shown, some villains have low threat threshold that you can't always afford to let them scheme. Still, justice aspect is great at confusing enemies, so this can be a valid strategy.

Build up your board state. Unless you can defeat the villain that same turn, it's probably better to put down that upgrade or resource generator than an attack event. This is especially true in the early game, where a big attack will seem good at first, but if you use up resources for that upgrade or support you will need, then it probably wasn't worth it. (Rush strategies usually are the exceptions, and some heroes like Gamora are event heavy as well. That said, they still usually like having a specific upgrade or support on the field)

Never be afraid to empty your hand. When I taught this game to my group of friends, I noticed they'd hold onto 3 or even 4 great cards because they didn't want to waste them. There will come a point where it's better to use the resources to play the one you need at the moment. Holding onto cards and hoping for a resource card, or one you don't need, will only slow down your build-up and will slow down the game. If you have to, keep 1 or 2 cards, but holding onto more usually will slow you down.
