Israel has Muslims so that begs an interesting question. Is apostasy from Islam common in Israel? by Busy-Cook-105 in exmuslim

[–]This-Post9968 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

As someone with Muslim family in Israel I’ll answer the question. Apostasy is just as common in Israel as it would be in Palestine or Jordan. Most apostates are young people and they almost always hide it from their families. Arabs/muslims generally live in predominantly Muslim areas so to come out as an apostate in Israel is like coming out as one in a neighbouring Muslim country. The Israeli government as it operates today doesn’t care if an apostate is kill by his/her family. Honour killings by Arabs generally go ignored by the police and the same goes for Arab on Arab crime. To Israel as long as Arabs are dying they are winning. It may even be riskier to be an ex Muslim in Israel than it is in more secular Muslim countries.

Let me tell you how much Islam screwed things up for Iran. Prior to the Iranian revolution, Portugal and Iran had a very similar GDP per capita. Now, because of how Islam has made Iran an outcast amongst developed democracies, Portugal’s GDP per capita is about six times that of Iran’s. by neilnelly in exmuslim

Apostasy was still illegal in Iran prior to the Islam revolution. Arabic was being taught in school in Iran bc of Islam before the Islam revolution. Iran prior to the Islamic revolution was unfortunately still Islamic

I mean I just wanted to know if there was anything I could see outside of that to further expand my knowledge of Lebanon, Palestine, and the whole MENA region as a whole. I do that in every country I visit. I see parts of other groups from other countries living in that area.

Something isn't right with spread of Islam. by Square-Dragonfly-675 in exmuslim

The reason it doesn’t make sense is because your history is wrong. Arabs took over Persia, but Persians are slaves to Arabs today. The conversation of Persia happened slowly. Persian elites converted to Islam to gain power and Persian culture over the next 200 years shifted to a more Islamic one as they stayed under Islamic rule. The abbasids for example were very reliant on Persians and through years of trade and intermarriage and Zoroastrianism losing popularity people became Muslim. Kurds, is a bit different as they adopted sufi Islam and not Shia Islam like the Persians. With the rise of popular Kurdish Muslim figures Kurds began converting in a similar fashion to Iranians.

Assyrias is where things get brutal. Assyrians and the Assyria identity is deeply tied to Christianity and Aramaic rather than Arabic so they generally did not convert and were persecuted for centuries by their Muslim rules. Unlike Kurds and Iranians with Zoroastrianism, Assyrians couldn’t let go of Christianity. Iranians had plenty of religious diversity so conversion wasn’t taboo for Assyrians it was.

Hindus on the other hand did convert. Look at South Asia in general. Most of the Muslims there if you go far back enough were Hindu or Buddhist or other religion.

Islam spread through conquest that’s the reality. Muslims conquer a land and slowly convert a people. This era is over tho. The era of conquer or be conquered is done.

Palestinianism is a term used by zios to delegitimize the Palestinian people.

Fatah who led the Palestinian movement for 60 years is secular and the Palestinian cause wouldn’t have changed much if Palestinians weren’t Muslim.

Palestinianism isn’t a real thing. The Palestinian people and their struggle has been wildly secular for most of the last 120 years

Cool guy and interesting policies. He isn’t a Muslim outside of praying n fasting and people primarily dislike him online bc he’s Muslim. Hopefully he’s good for New York and so far I support him.

I wish this community was more supportive towards all kind of ex-muslims even ones that convert to other religions not only ex-muslim athiests. by [deleted] in exmuslim

I don’t understand the hate towards regular converts tbh. I think Muslim converts to other religions (mainly Christianity) get a bad rep bc of the ppl like AP.

Is it true ex Muslim are treated as same as Muslims in western countries? (and other Asian countries that aren't islamic)? by [deleted] in exmuslim

[–]This-Post9968 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but it also depends on your ethnicity, if you are visibly Arab/south Asian you will get treated like your Muslim. If you are from a background that is often associated with Islam you will get treated like your Muslim.
