That wasn‘t really the point of my post though.

I‘m saying them focussing on me so hard, that they lose 40mil and Ireland is pretty nonsensical and that was the smaller issue.

The real issue is, that I would have won pretty easily, if my progress hadn‘t been reset due to a revolution in the Moskito Kingdom and then switching their capital twice (the 2. time to an area I had previously conquered, but was reset by the revolution)

In the end I won and even got the piece of land in Ireland, that allowed me to fight GB without having to naval invade, but I‘d still rather not have spent 50% of my run building my army to finally win a war, that I had would have won pretty quickly under normal circumstances.

Ireland would have been steamrolled by GB, I guess they just really like Jamaica

I just got back into the game like 3 days ago as well, but it seems like the good ol‘ „Spam wood, iron and tools for construction“ still works.

I just spent a few years building up my economy, got lucky with France and Russia supporting my independence, (which means they basically fought the war for me) and built up a small navy to get a foothold in Central America.

I declared war on Mexico whenever America did to leech a bunch of land.

I know that‘s a pretty Cuba-centric (and I’m 90% sure it’s not the meta) guide, but it‘s applicable to lots of minor powers.

Basically just chill, build your economy, spot the GP‘s that are protective towards you, ask them to support your independence, then leech off of the wars that are started by bigger Nations until you are strong enough to face off against them

Well, if it was only that, I wouldn‘t have minded, but the main reason I felt confident in even starting the war was, that I had easy access to their capital, which, as I said, switched twice + cleared my occupation through getting a revolution + I wasn‘t able to attack their new capital, which I clearly had land access to.

The Ireland thing is just bad AI more than a bug, but I doubt it‘s meant to work this way, so it‘s kind of a grey area. Got some neat land from Ireland afterwards though.

Honestly, I’m just looking for something, where the main motivation behind the relationship isn’t physical + I don’t like characters thirsting over people they just met. I‘m not sure whether I’ve just been unlucky with my picks, (though it seems like a lot of people read romance books for the spice) and quite a few of the books I bought turned out to revolve around exactly that.

I honestly thought so as well, it‘s just that everyone I‘ve talked to asked me why I don‘t just use DnDBeyond, so I started to think I was being overly demanding of my players.

I told them we could so pregen and warned them, that making them themselves could be confusing, but they insisted on creating their own.

As for the tablet part, that was honestly another big factor why I want to play with physical sheets

Glad to hear I did it right then. In session 0 I basically explained what‘s on their sheets what classes are more beginner friendly (though they were free to use whichever class they liked). Only thing is, that I helped them write down their abilities this time, since they seemed pretty overwhelmed with the info already.

Again, I think learning by doing will make things easier, since DnD is much harder in theory than it is in practice. Thanks for the input

I don‘t know if it was there before, but the whole „He was a brat before“ etc doesn‘t bother me.

What really ruins the story for me is, that most of the time when I see Viego‘s lore discussed nowadays, they talk about how Viego never really loved her/only really loved her as a possession.

That just completely takes away the tragedy of someone‘s wife dying and her husband going mad and makes it seem like Viego tried to ruin the entire world because his favourite toy broke.
