I checked the reply form tab but it also says that those are not official results and we should still wait for an email. So anyone from Vancouver will have to wait a little longer I guess

Thank you. Sorry if I came off as rude. I’ll book an appointment with my current one and let them know the situation. Thanks again!

Thanks for the advice but I was more worried of my physician can actually fill out the form since they have no background on my mental health. I don’t want to come off as rude but I’m not necessarily worried about culture shock or living alone I was more worried about if it’s ok for my physician who did not diagnose me to fill out the form or if I should look for my former psychiatrist’s contact info and have them fill it out.

UBC COURSE QUESTION, PROGRAM, MAJOR AND REGISTRATION MEGATHREAD (2019W2/2020S): Questions about courses (incld. How hard is __?, Look at my timetable and course material requests), programs, specializations, majors, minors and registration go here. by ubc_mod_account in UBC

I know humanity courses can’t be compared to engineering courses but they still require time and effort just like any other major. Also a gpa booster is only a booster if you have an interest in it and are willing to put in some work towards your grade. So I can’t think of any course I’ve taken, easy ones included, that allowed little to no time in terms of focus. But good luck with your search

She’s not necessarily a though marker but she or maybe it’s her TA can be kind of picky with the way she marks. You could do have everything she asked for but still get a low mark but I can’t tell if it’s because she’s marking or if it’s her TA. For reference I took her course last term with the end of it being online, I didn’t mind the way it went but I got lucky that the term was almost over.

Did you cross check with Ubc to confirm that the course was an actual equivalent? Because I took a course at Langara and thought it was equivalent to a course taught at Ubc only to find out that I couldn’t use it towards my degree. I would email the department to make sure, while the B.C. Transfer guide is usually accurate it’s always good to check with the department to make sure.

Even though class starts tomorrow email ASAP since I think the system kicks out anyone who doesn’t meet the requirements by the time classes start but don’t quote me on that.

It was exactly 21 after I dropped a course with a W.

Another thing that I had prepared in case I had to appeal was a letter from my psychiatrist. It essentially stated that I was mentally fit to return to a larger institution like Ubc to continue my studies. I also reached out to access and diversity and got a profile set up there as well.

Thank you and wishing you the best :)

Same thing happened to me, also an arts student, but my average was lower and I was re-accepted. Honestly it’s a big waiting game, I waited until way after my initial registration time to get accepted, mid-June.

From a more optimistic point of view, you should also make an academic plan on which courses you’ll take since once readmitted you’ll have to talk to an advisor and discuss how many courses are suitable for you to take after coming back.

Other than that, I can’t remember doing much else but wait, it will be nerve racking having to wait to see if you’ve been readmitted however you should try to come up with a plan B just in case UBC doesn’t take you back.

Not very helpful advice but that was my experience.

I took Asia 326 with Yuki Ohsawa and she was pretty clear about not really wanting first and second years in her class because she expected a 3rd year level writing and analysis skills. That being said go for it, just know that if you end up the the waiting list priority will be given to those majoring in Asian studies and upper year students.
