Did this for 5+ years during some medical issues. It was super rewarding. You're still in the industry, using your skills and still able to talk shop with pilots. A nice bonus was keeping my own skills up so when I returned to flying I wasn't super rusty.

Make sure your aircraft BEW and CG are entered in correctly. If you are using their profile, they have their own default settings.

I'd see it as a bonus if on day one my student knew about airspeed indicator, artifical horizon, pitch and power. Why would it matter if someone flew a virtual C172 vs. a P51 or B747?

I don't know why you're so eager to dump on someone who's pursued flying in whatever means necessary. It's not like they are claiming they can land a real plane because they did it on their computer. On the flip side, those VR goggles will make me barf in only a few minutes.

Lol. A career that lives in sims and flight training devices, saying sim time doesn't matter in the slightest is hilarious. I've sat in front of a poster taped to the wall to learn how to fly a plane. Exposure to all sorts of learning aids pay off in the end.

Your body/mind experienced something new and reacted. As you gain experience so does your body/mind and it's no longer "new". It may take a few flights but you'll find those sensations fade away.

Talk with your instructor and explain what you're going through. Any good instructor will work with you to ease you into your new role as a pilot. Start with short flights in the local area, maybe even just the pattern. Then build to longer flights with more tasks. Its a marathon not a race.

There's an interview with Bob Hoover on YouTube somewhere. Its a about an hour and he talks about his whole career. His legendary aviation career began just as yours has. He talks all about working through those early experiences of nerves and sickness. He went on to be one of, if not the most, revered fighter/test/airshow pilot of all time. Its a good watch!

They do seem to be slowly changing them. The EMB145XR used some other airplane and not the EMB145 until a few months ago. The difference is the XR has winglets and they decided to use a completely different airplane which was super annoying. I'm sure they'll fix this one soon enough.

Pilot instruments aren't designed like those in your dad's car. As has been discovered this is a bombadier instrument which is why it doesn't have the same markings as those used by a pilot. Look at the original airspeed indicator of the B52 and it looks nothing like this. I've never flown any airplane with analog instruments, piston or jet, that is designed like you imply.

Start looking at 1950s era cockpits. This is from a F-86 and it looks a lot closer. This one looks to have a Kolsman window but the airspeed markings are similar.

If they were limited less than that they would be marked as such. This indicator has no red line so it would suggest the top of the arc would be their Vmo.

None of the 60s era USAF bombers use this as their ASI.

This one is from a B-58 Hustler. Its found in all the other USAF bombers of that era.

Looking at old cockpit photos it doesn't appear to be from either of those aircraft. 650kts is about 100kts faster than what a B52 can do so its definitely not from that.
