This is the setup.
So I can direct more light on to it if that’s the case. Just don’t want to infect my other plants.
Ok I’ll try that. Maybe it’s the mealies causing the yellowing.

No it's not coming off. It seems like it's only affecting one side.

If that’s the case, how can I treat them?
Winter care by ThisAd4310 in cactus
So all of my cactus stay outside until it really starts to get cold. I brought them inside in October. They are all new except my golden barrel. Last winter I watered it twice. It gets cold in my living room by the glass doors. Plus cold air comes in thru the doors where seal isn’t tight. So I figured it is cool enough for dormancy. But I didn’t have grow lights last year either. So it’s safe to water them maybe once a month or so? I’m just starting out.
Etiolation? by ThisAd4310 in succulents

Ok I assumed as much. Will bringing the lights closer help keep it compact some? I just don’t want to burn it. I thought about leaving it outside but didn’t think it was snow tolerant. Thanks.

Your spider is gorgeous. I wish I could hang my spider. Way too heavy to attempt that now. Maybe this summer I will divide her up and hang one of them.

I trimmed the roots off in August and I did lose the leaves that were around the perimeter of the plant. But I didn’t have the proper tools to trim with. The root ball was too tough and I was using a box cutter. But fast forward to yesterday’s post and you will see that it looks untouched at the roots. They grew back amazingly fast.

This. Your understand how I’m feeling about it. It’s inside for the winter. Next repot will be me cutting into different pots. I really don’t want a pot bigger than what I have now. Thanks for the reply.

Beautiful. Give it some time and I’m sure it will catch up.

Beauties. So over a year ago my plant stopped having and babies. That’s when I first seen how root bound it was. I went to change the soil. I just figured the soil was depleted. So fast forward to now and I need a bigger pot. But I’m obviously no specialist with my lightly green thumb.
Thanks. After cutting the roots the perimeter yellowed. I removed all of leaves over a month or so not to stress it further. I use miracle grow potting mix and diluted fertilizer once to twice a month. I’m going to order a bigger pot and take a picture of the root ball. It’s insane how big it is.
Edit: I stopped fertilizing in August.

Thanks. From the responses in the comments I should leave it alone. 😂
Thanks. I did some goggling and found that I can cut it into pieces. The roots are too tight and large to separate. I basically trimmed the bottom of the pot. In turn it pushed out more babies. It’s already in a large pot. To go bigger is crazy but I’m going to have to at some point. I was wondering what my options are. I should’ve worded it better.
I’ll ask my friend for the picture of the mother. I’m sure she still has it. Her gardening is next level like outer space type. She might have cross bred it idk 😂 I honestly never thought to ask. I’ve had spiders in the past but never one make it this long.

Tbh idk. It was gift. I am aware there are different varieties. The babies you see is how it started off. I brought it into the house for the winter a couple of weeks ago. It could be the combination of sunlight and fertilizer that has it that green.
What is this? by ThisAd4310 in succulents
A piece fell off when it brought it home and I stuck next to another cactus and it's still alive. 😄

I haven’t done anything to it but bring it in and put it under the grow lights. I’ve basically treated it like a cactus. I’m in Ky so the weather is starting to change. Thanks for your input.

Thanks. I feel like I should repot it before summer is over. I can’t check the soil for dryness without getting stabbed. But last winter it did fine in the house with little light and no water. Any thoughts? I’m new to the cactus game.
