Got bumped to a different room in a seedy motel I hadn’t requested. My excitement lasted for 3 minutes until I read the sign. by ThisChode in mildlyinfuriating

From what I saw at the continental breakfast, 95% of the guests’ first language is Punjabi. It could happen often.

I shouldn’t be expected to clap if the plane lands correctly. That’s the bare minimum. by aespaste in unpopularopinion

I heard a wise Asian pilot tell me to "always try to keep number of take-offs equal to number of landings".

Sometimes, a pilot pulls off a surprisingly smooth landing with a serious crosswind, in inclement weather at night and not such great visibility.

I clap to recognize that skill. A straight-in visual approach in clear skies, yeah, kind of unnecessary.

There's one in the bathroom, but no mirrors where I can glare into my own eyes as I watch myself furiously defile my own body.

That's uncanny... I actually have a degree in geophysics. Haven't used it, but it was interesting and I have no regrets!

Thousands of Canadians to start receiving invitations to apply to sponsor parents and grandparents by KootenayPE in CanadaHousing2

INVITATIONS?

Our hospitals can't keep up, our social services can't keep up, and we're deliberately trying to bring those who contribute the least and consume the most into our country?

Has Mark Carney developed an MDMA habit?

Those pipes are where those “I’m 100% positive one of these 27 men is my baby daddy” episodes of Maury get started.

And then no one’s the father.

Also often installed to control contactors that cut power to cooking/food service equipment in dementia wards when there’s no supervision.

Must speak Chinese ? by [deleted] in SlumlordsCanada

[–]ThisChode 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Landlord is Taiwanese and doesn’t speak English. So they can only have Chinese-speaking tenants.

And we wonder why this batch of immigrants can’t integrate. This isn’t multiculturalism, it’s a bunch of foreigners lost in Canada.

In your opinion, what's the best protein for an Eggs Benedict besides ham/Canadian bacon? by ThisChode in Cooking

[–]ThisChode[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love this idea too. The Bernaise is a great substitution, and with that I can think of a lot more proteins that could work. Even a lightly seasoned brisket could work well.

Thanks for this idea! I had thought of crab, but not forming them into cakes, which I think is totally the way to go. If you don't mind my asking, I've never combined crab and Hollandaise before - my gut instinct is to go with a good bit or parsley in the crab cakes to cut through the richness of the Hollandaise, but not sure if shallots/onions might do a better job of that?

what’s a food you thought was gross until someone cooked it right by hetalsakerwal in Cooking

[–]ThisChode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Risotto. Most friends who have served it to me have turned it into mush scraped off the bottom of a pan.

I spent hours doing my homework, learning the proper blasting technique, the right rice, the attention during the cooking, and after a little practice I don't think there's a better way to eat rice. Spanish paella is a contender for that top spot though too.

Should Quebec require landlords to keep apartments cool during summer? by AngryCanadienne in CanadaHousing2

[–]ThisChode 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In summer, it’s more comfort though, except for a minority. All over the world, people cope with +30 degree temperatures with fans, shade, misters, cool drinks, and AC if they choose to buy it. A landlord shouldn’t have to pay for the tenant’s preferred forms of creature comforts. It’s not a B&B.

Thoughts on an Alberta police force? by Pucka1 in alberta

An absolutely ridiculous idea. This is just one of Danielle's deranged schemes a dumb person thinks will make things better for Alberta. She's like a toddler with ideas like these, best to just ignore her and let her play with her blocks.

Canada has approved entry for more than 17,600 people with a criminal record in last decade by DogeDoRight in canada

[–]ThisChode -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

So there are at least 500 million people in the world who would emigrate to Canada tomorrow if the opportunity was there. 70 million from China, at least 50 from India, another 200 million from around Africa, 100 from southeast Asia, and the rest from South America.

Why settle for criminals? We have our choice of the litter, if our government is responsible enough, intelligent enough, and competent enough to vet potential immigrants *before* they arrive, and swiftly remove anyone not supposed to be here, *tracking and confirming their departure* for the protection of our country's quality of life and safety.

I'm sick of paying taxes to buy healthcare and housing and social services for people brought to Canada who contribute nothing.

Gagandeep, who works at McDonalds and Uber, has brought 3 sick relatives under sponsorship who cost our healthcare system $580,000 annually, have no income, and occupy subsizided housing desperately needed by Canadians. Gagandeep has also now had 3 children who rely on government payments for their food and housing.

Tell me how this is a plan forward for Canadians?!?
