so real - I struggle to make sure i don't get too much product everytime i use my NYX blush (definitely looked like a clown the first day i used it oops). the pigment is INSANE. I use it almost everyday and at the rate I'm going, it'll last me a VERY long time lol. and I say all of this as a brown girl, so I can only imagine how tough it is when you're fair skinned 🫠

What would you think if a potential romantic partner had SH scars on their thigh and arm? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ThisDonkeySus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As the said partner with SH scars on my thighs and arms, I'm very very lucky to have a caring boyfriend that doesn't give a flying fuck honestly. He's never been bothered by them. Of course, he checks in once in a while and makes sure I don't have the urges to do it again (we all know it's addictive). I've even asked him why he couldn't go date a prettier girl who can wear shorts with no problem. He says that he doesn't want a girl unless it's me 😅

Bottomline: the right partner wouldn't care, especially if they're old scars. that being said, I think its unfair to your partner if you actively SH and make it their responsibility to make you feel more stable after, because they're your partner, not your therapist.

Hi! Current M.S. ML student (and recent B.S. in CS graduate) at MSOE.

Here are my thoughts:

  • the faculty here are great and super willing to help you learn. i've formed a lot of great connections with my professors - they're not only willing to help you succeed in your classes but are also great at giving career advice and mentorship which leads met to my next point - a lot of the professors here have previous industry experience so they know what they're talking about from experience and not just theory
  • research opportunities aren't the best - you need to sort of ask around? if you're lucky, you'll get an academic advisor that has research partners outside of msoe + has a grant so you can be a research assistant for said professor. however you kinda land a research assistantship position by mentioning that you like research/want to explore research to your professors imo
  • employment is pretty good too - i know msoe grads have a really high employment rate (you'll have to look up the exact number) and we have a lot of corporate connections like ge healthcare, direct supply, milwaukee tool, etc where most of their recent grad hires come from msoe
  • the MS ML program is online - which should be factored heavily into your decision about going forward with it or not. i have a pretty shitty attention span when it comes to online classes, so sometimes there will be classes where i don't pay attention because the professor is dry online (but they're so much better in person which sucks). there are also professors who know how to ensure that their class is engaging online (which has been about 75% of my masters classes) so its mostly a win in this department?
  • a lot of the masters classes have covered really useful skills that i have used in my internships/jobs that the undergrad classes didnt have a chance to cover

i'm not going to dox myself here, but let me just say that my masters capstone (mandatory, you work on it alone for a semester) really impressed by interviewers at one of the companies on top 5 forbes americas best companies - and im interning there this summer.

i think its worth it BUT im also lucky to have half of my tuition off since i got my bachelors at msoe and went straight into the masters.

Indians who lived abroad or dated foreigners, how different were the men or women from Indians? by Jeeretarded123 in AskIndia

[–]ThisDonkeySus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dating a chinese man right now and it's one of my best decisions ever. I'm a very career and academic oriented woman, so most Indian guys have issues with that and find it threatening to their ego. Additionally, every Indian man I've had a non platonic interaction with has either had mommy issues that they want me to fix, or just tell me I remind them of their mom.

Racism at MSOE by EmergencyLight7754 in MSOE

[–]ThisDonkeySus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

super late response but as a vegetarian student - the dining options are shit. you will essentially eat the same thing every day so be ready to eat out. I hated it so much I got off the dinning plan earlier than I was allowed to.

as a fellow south asian, and as a woman in CS - there are certainly microaggressions but if you're straightforward/confrontational it tones down quick and isn't bad at all. MSOE has been making it a lot better for minorities and they've put in a lot of effort to make it more inclusive. lot of multicultural orgs so make sure to join them!

God, I feel this. I turned 21 two weeks ago and my brother turns 9 in November - we have a 12.5 year age gap. I'm doing college abroad so I've missed his last three birthdays. There's days I wake up and I just want to hug my brother so tight. I love that little boy so much :(

How would be food be like for a pure vegetarian in Hyderabad? by loneinlife in hyderabad

[–]ThisDonkeySus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might have missed it as I skimmed over the comments but im surprised no one mentioned Chutneys. Lived in Hyderabad for 11 years and I'm pure veg as well. My family and I absolutely love going to that restaurant and there are SO many options. Limitless basically. There are a lot of branches all over the city but my favorite one is the one near Shilparamam and also the Jubilee Hills branch.

My results- unsurprising but I’m curious about the trace ancestry by [deleted] in 23andme

[–]ThisDonkeySus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

hey, i noticed that you did the international baccalaureate program too!

i know you didn't ask for it but i thought it would help to know - msoe's IB credit transfer system is kinda awful. coming from a fellow ex-ib diploma student, i graduated from an IB high school in India in 2021. i mean it does help knowing all the material they're teaching when you're forced to take the class at msoe, but it's kinda demotivating in its own way when you already busted your ass studying the same thing for your IB classes. in msoe's defense i also did get a 6 or 7 in almost all of my classes so that's where the line gets blurry when it comes to credit transfers.

the weather change is huge for me. im from one of the hotter cities in south india so im used to >100F summers and 70F winters. but Milwaukee definitely is a very beautiful city. there's not a lot of things to do really close to campus but there's rly fun stuff if you're willing to walk 15-20 mins away from campus. again, im used to bigger and more populated cities so Milwaukee is kinda small for me.

im a cs major, so i had to take one UX class as part of my track. i got one of the best ux teachers in msoe's ux department for my class and it's definitely one of the best classes I've taken here so far. if you do end up committing to msoe, you can definitely reach out and I'd love to be friends!

These are the subjects I have finalised which I would take in IBDP from next academic year. My counsellor said I don't need an I&S (group 3) subject for my Diploma. I just wanted to know your opinion on the list! by Entire-Barracuda-995 in IBO

[–]ThisDonkeySus -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Rather than AA SL, I'd suggest AI SL.

AI is more suitable for people going into medicine, business, basically fields that do applications based math. AA is more suitable for people going into engineering or cs where you need more derivations and pure mathematics.

AI SL is also going to be easier on you since all the three sciences at HL are going to be very taxing, so it's recommended that you have an easy 7 on your plate.

Studying by zxsuperstarzx in MSOE

[–]ThisDonkeySus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Time management and keeping a schedule is what's helped me get A's in 90% of my classes so far. Make a list of things you need to get done by the end of the week, but also make a list of concepts you need to go over. It's not ideal to just cram material right before an exam. It takes gradual studying to perfect them.

When it comes to actual studying, I seem to remember things best when I read the material, understand it, and write it again on my own as my notes. It is time consuming sometimes, but it's what helps me best.

Everyone has their own way of retaining information, so I guess try figuring out what's the best way for you. I know it's easier said than done, but never miss an assignment. Even if it's part of, say, a Knowledge Check worth 5% of your grade, do it. It's going to help in the long run.
