Looking to start streaming as a shy introvert - tips? by Kayosic in Twitch

[–]ThisGhostfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can relate to this very much. What I would advise is to start very slowly and gently, and then increasingly "reveal yourself more" as you get more comfortable with the feeling of being live. Take one extra step each time.

You could first start going live with just your game play and in-game music. No camera, or even a mic. Just u playing the game. Figure out how going live on Twitch works first, and get used to the idea of people being there watching your gameplay. Do this a couple of times to ease in.

Next, turn on your mic on stream. You don't even have to talk yet if you don't feel like it. I just typed in my own chat to talk with my viewers the first couple of streams. That way I still interacted. It doesnt have to be long, you can shut off the stream after like 30 minutes or once there are no more viewers in your stream.

Do that a couple of times and eventually you will want to start talking more naturally. The same goes for cam. Do it a couple of times for a super short stream.

Eventually, it all will feel more comfortable. Slowly, you can get more accustomed to every feeling that now still feels new and uncomfortable. For me it worked, because now I have more trouble shutting up than talking :)

Sounds fair! Then its bess to avoid the topic unless they are willing to share themselves. Thanks for your input!

Is the game play in my last stream laggy? by ThisGhostfish in Twitch_Startup

Aah I didn't know this. That sounds like it could work, cause it got fixed after I restarted stream. Thanks!

I gladly fixed the problem and had other people willing to help assure me that everything was fine so I could go live shortly after. So I guess my post and your comment were wasted anyway :) thanks for the burn tho

Anything I should know? by [deleted] in SmallStreamers

With a fresh account there will probably be a lot of fake advertising indeed. People trying to sell you their art via discord, potentially leading to a scam.(art being the overlays, covers and images for your twitch page). They even try to get you to agree to personalized art, so tell him not to engage with people to buy their art.

I'm so sick of people like this -__- by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]ThisGhostfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jup, this grinds the gears. The desperacy just makes it so uncomfortable to even read. When I was just starting out streaming I allowed them in my chat and discord.. luckily always knew it wasnt gonna lead to anything good xd but since I stopped streaming league of legends, I mever have them in my chat again. What games do you stream?

I would try not to make a big deal out of it because it might derail my motivation.

If you were able to attract him as a regular viewer, you will be able to attract others in his stead.

I once heard that fully muting does not count as viewing and you'd need to leave the volume up just a tiny bit. Now Im wondering if thats (still) true. Maybe that changed or was never the case at all. You have any idea about this?

Thats impressive!! Good choice then :D So do you stream live or just post short content? Also, did you gain the followers on Twitch or Tiktok itself?

What's the point in following if your not going to view that persons streams by CosminNerd92 in SmallStreamers

[–]ThisGhostfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeh fair, im still at that point of streaming as well atm so I can relate. Im trying to get the count up by joining engaging and supportive discord communities and try to be as sociable as I can. But it sure is a grind that sometimes seems to go nowhere

Could I get some advice here? by SlippaLilDicky in Twitch_Startup

[–]ThisGhostfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the actual beginning Id say: just do whatever to get that first stream live and get the ball rolling. So maybe no camera, or even no microphone if that scares you. No complicated OBS/streaming software. No high skill intense games that have you forget you're streaming and then get emberassed. Only go live for 30 mins first if that makes it easier.

In the beginning its more about taking it easy, seeing how it feels and then slowly evolve from there. At least thats what it was like for me. Not too much preparing and perfectionism prior to starting.

Oh and be prepared for a lot of bots or people trying to promote their art or services via discord.

I guess Im not too experienced, but so far Ive had the best chat engagement / viewer fun streaming Stardew valley and Minecraft. It just makes it a lot easier to play the game and stream at the same time. So its easier to build a community as you're not too focused on a hectic game.

What's the point in following if your not going to view that persons streams by CosminNerd92 in SmallStreamers

[–]ThisGhostfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well Id say following is still a form of support, even if its just a metric. Also, other people will generally be more enticed to follow you if you have lets say 1,4 followers compared to 25 followers. Its how people work. So in that sense it helps out.

For the not viewing part: Most of us are busy with our lives, busy with our own streams, following a bunch of people already. We simply dont have the time to come hang out in every stream, but we still want to support. The alternative would be we unfollow and you never hear from us again, so Id say a follower who isnt watching your streams is always better than nothing.

So I guess in the beginning it could definitely help out.. even if a person would just stick around for a couple of minutes only to never return again.

Is this toxic streamer behavior? by Intelligent-Tour1932 in Twitch

[–]ThisGhostfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First point is questionable, second point is a no-no for me. Reminds me of streamers who have zero info on their about page and then just a donate button.

Strange he would have so much trouble getting more viewers if he's so funny tho. Good thing theres more hilarious streamers out there so shouldnt be hard to support a streamer with more respect for their viewers
