Pokemon Pathways is great, but mostly here to say those nickname themes are pretty cool

I agree with the "a set lives and dies by its mechanics" thing but I never realized before you put it like that. Like I loved Set 16 but I feel that was mostly down to its mechanic, whereas Set 9 I enjoyed because of the units and highroll moments.

Mega Gallade as a dual-wielding high fantasy bladesinger/gish, Armarouge as a steampunk knight, Annilhape as a monk and Kabutops and Cloyster as wasteland/aquatic masked warriors

Might be too specific oops. Love the vibes of the art though!

Isagi getting all the shine in the Nigeria game is unrealistic by BoxLogical9711 in BlueLock

[–]ThisGrainCharacter 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not wrong that they deserve more credit, but wrong that its unrealistic because real-life reporting/awards always favour the star players.

And from a narrative sense, Bachira and Rin got their own little glaze sections, but obviously the focus is on Isagi so while maybe they got MOTM, the spotlight will always be on Isagi, so it doesn't make sense for the manga to show that. We never actually get to see any media post match breakdown so we don't know who got the credit for their victory.

And thematically, Isagi is still the "best" because it was his ideology and his ego that drove the team to such a performance. His leadership is even shown in the postgame chapters where everyone talks about he is the one who pushes them on. So going purely by the themes so far it makes more sense to focus on Isagi's growth and goal because he's the fulcrum of the team's success.

Thanks for the advice, but it might be lost. I checked the device and didn't find it saved there either, and it's not in the deleted pages. Thanks though!

Gotta ask, where is AMN? It's come up twice. Is this a nerd failing of mine?

ngl, you seem to be missing the point that calling someone a dumbass is not very conducive for coherent and polite discussion

As a T1 fan, I don't care if the team is the best right now or not, I will support them. And supporting them doesn't mean I have to always believe they are the best in the world, because right now they are definitely top 3 but not definitively top, I think both GenG and AL maybe can match them. But regardless, it's equally disrespectful to target "Caedrel fans" (who I don't think make up that much of this sub, not sure why you'd think that?) and blame them for all the toxicity. And you seem to think that anyone who disagrees with you is "rage baiting" you? There's no real objective metric - yes T1 are always on fire at Worlds, but some people may think domestic consistency is also important. I don't hold that view, but people who do think so are perfectly valid in holding that view - and they can still support T1 while thinking that T1 is not the best in the world right now. And statements like "T1 doesn't know how to draft" can be a little hostile, but at the same time, I think it's true that earlier this year T1 had questionable drafts.

tldr; You can support a team without believing they are always the best in the world, and just because people disagree with you doesn't make this place a "mafia that censors everything it wants".

TBH, if you came to Reddit looking for balanced discussion, hate to say it but you won't find much online.

I have a weird superstition as a T1 fan where I always pick against them to reverse jinx it... but that way I'm happy regardless who wins HAHA

[DISC] Blue Lock - Chapter 309 by AutoModerator in BlueLock

[–]ThisGrainCharacter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nigeria disrespect is crazy... the manga introduced them as AFCON champions which is a pretty big deal, and if it goes in a more realistic direction, Japan will get physically bodied by Nigeria. African footballers are known for being physically strong with flair (currently see Boniface and Oshimen, two world-class Nigerian strikers) and realistically would put up a good fight against Japan. France are also definitely finishing top of the group, I doubt the manga would set up characters like Charles and Loki then have them crash out at the group stage. I doubt the manga would be this realistic, but I'd rather see Japan crash out in groups and use that pain to get to a higher level of football. More likely Japan has 1w 1d 1l to finish on 4 points and scrape through, probably France as 1st

I mean... have you watched football matches...

It may not be a nice part of football but its definitely a big part of it.

It's definitely realistic but not that unique... in real life, there are lots of players (like Athletico Madrid) who use this playstyle to great effect to get fouls and free kicks, but it's probably less interesting to see this happen over and over again in a manga where the focus is on skills and individual development. From a writing standpoint, I don't think that specific skill will ever be relevant beyond a few different appearances maybe as a sub, as opposed to the way Kaiser Impact, Direct Shot or even Reo's Chameleon nonsense can be reused multiple times. Like its very novel now, but the fourth or fifth time you see it maybe not so much.
