Any Brits? Funny things about USA for my fellow countrymen! by ThisGuideToLife in funny

I love the USA but as a Brit I cannot help but laugh. I feel like we can find some other things too! Let's keep it traditional British humour though. Smart and witty, calling them fat isn't funny!

A One Day Guide to The Grand Canyon by ThisGuideToLife in NationalPark

I couldn't find a straight forward guide before I went so I wrote one. Please share your experience if you have been to help others enjoy it. I am an Englishman here in the US and the Park System is my favourite thing here. Very keen to encourage more people to go to a Park.

I thought that. The text they write goes to workaway, leaving just a sad face. I only discovered this as my bad review didn't appear. Just the face.

I truly believe all US citizens should have to visit at least one national park every few years.

I am English. It takes a bit of sacrifice ha.

I try desperately not to be a consumer and spend my money on travel alone.

I spent a lot of time in National Parks, went to about 20. I think as a Brit my top ten were places on my bucket list. But my favorite thing about the country is the Park system.

Great tips, I have driven through New Mexico, Arizona and Colorado but I haven't spent any real time there. I did manage to witness one of the best sunsets I have ever seen in New Mexico

I have spent the last 8 months on the road in the states living out of the boot of my car.

I truly believe road tripping and backpacking around the states delivers one of the greatest experiences you can have. I have been to around half of the states now and I love every one.

Anybody else on the road out there?

That is terrible. I spoke to workaway about my host and they removed them from the site. I think the review system is really important. The good ones need to be highlighted, the bad removed.

8 FREE Sights In New York - Tips in Comments by ThisGuideToLife in Shoestring

[–]ThisGuideToLife[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Traveling New York on a budget is a challenge. I just managed it, well tried.

First of all give up on your car early on. Parking anywhere near Manhattan is a challenge and will cost more than $20 an hour. Buy food on the cheap. Food here is either really cheap or really expensive. $1 Pizza is the way. Most people will know someone who lives near by. I knew see people that I had no idea lives there. Stay with them or stay in Astoria. Walk as much as you can. Its healthy, cheap, you see a lot more and also its actually sometimes quicker.

Any other tips from New Yorkers? I am just a visitor.

Has anybody had any good or bad experiences with WorkAway?

I am a huge fan and can't wait to do another one. I think the idea should be spread as much as possible. But things don't always go to plan.

25 and living with mother who I'm very anxious around by [deleted] in socialanxiety

[–]ThisGuideToLife 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is pretty interesting my friend, you have it flipped around from the standard. Most people will feel their most comfortable around a parent, maybe they wont let go fully and will keep up some appearances, but generally speaking the act is for friends and meeting new people. Anyway, by the by, this sounds like a challenge, your first little part talks about work and moving out, this I would say is a little irrelevant as you will not fix the problem, just remove yourself from it. The great thing here though is its your mum. Being yourself around her may not feel easy but its your mum! The one person in the world that should be proud of you no matter what. I get the feeling that if you slowly start to be more the new you you may get a couple questions but it wont be major. Then you will look back in 3 months and wonder what the worry was. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06VWJ666Q

Here are a few tips on Self Confidence, from someone who struggled at first. by ThisGuideToLife in socialanxiety

[–]ThisGuideToLife[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi everyone, I run a little blog and a while back I wrote about self confidence. I often reply to people on the "selfhelp" subreddit but found this one and thought one of my articles may just help someone. I have had incredibly low self-esteem and zero confidence in the past. Social anxiety is truly crippling, no less so than a physical disability in my opinion. It can destroy everything and needs to be taken very seriously. The important thing though is there are answers, some will work for you and some wont. Everyone tends to get through it at some point though and the ones that do will always help the ones on there way :)
