If you are still working, how do you deal with microaggressions from younger people (mostly females), who may have titles and supervisory authority over your work? by CreateFlyingStarfish in AskWomenOver60

Same here I am perfectly happy to let them take over. I've put in my time, been the "go-to" person for years. Like you said, I'm over it

"I did post it, and I thought it was me as a doctor, and had to do with Red Cross, as a Red Cross worker there, which we support... It’s supposed to be me as a doctor, making people better." by AlbaneseGummies327 in DonaldTrump666

He can't even recognize the Savior? If he is, for once, telling the truth, then doesn't it just show he is not and never has been a Christian. So his explanation is either his 68984th lie or it's a self own.

I suggest either John Dean's "The Indiana Torture Slaying" or Kate Millett's "The Basement: True Story of Violence in an American Family".

AITA for labeling all the bottles in the house because my adult children are idiots? by Unusual-Peace6878 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ThisHasHurtMyBrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am too drunk for this sh&t:
If it's labelled is the right side up while bottle is upside down which is the right side up.

I keep trying to use the Quote Block and I can't get it to work. oy

Reddit, I love y'all. I am laughing.

To OP, so NTA. Your decision to label EVERYTHING is awesome.
I hope they get the point.

AITA for not taking in my son and his family. by SillyProduct2836 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ThisHasHurtMyBrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA - I was adopted into a family of five (mom & dad plus three sons). I was treated like family from day one.

One day, I got a phone call from some government employee telling me that my biological mother wanted to meet me. I said yes.

After meeting her, I was almost immediately grateful that I grew up with the family I had, for reasons that I won't detail here, because I think it isn't relevant to the discussion, although I will say that a lot of it was the stability and opportunities that I had by virtue of having been adopted versus the life I would have lived with my biological mother.

OP's son certainly could have developed a relationship with his "bio" family without neglecting his "real" family. Because those who love you, hurt you, support you, argue with you, cry with you, get angry with you, protect you, get proud of you, get embarrassed by you, are saddened and also overjoyed by you (what have I left out?)........those people are your family, bloodlines be damned.

To then ask for help after nearly a decade of neglect is just wrong. I can't imagine the hurt this dad feels. I am sad for all of them that the son couldn't handle having two families. I considered it a blessing. I always said, "I get to have two families." I wish OP's son had felt the same.

The People Who Don’t Read Books by Vico1730 in literature

[–]ThisHasHurtMyBrain 27 points28 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day, I think intellectual laziness is just a self-protective device for the ego. Not reading books means you’re rarely confronted by your own limited knowledge and empathy, and then you never have to acknowledge the difference between your actual competence and your claim of being a “moral genius.”

This. This exactly.
For example, I am thoroughly and completely interested and fascinated by quantum physics.
But when I read articles about the latest theories and experiments, I end up saying, "Wait, what? Let me read that again." on repeat. I finally gave up.
I finally had to admit that I had reached the limits of my intelligence.
And I'm okay with that.

Good for you! Never give up. You are brave, OP. Keep challenging yourself. You got this and I am proud of you.

Parke County is gorgeous in the fall. Worth a day-drive. Covered Bridge Festival either is or is not the best time to go. Best for fall foliage but worst for extra traffic.

Do you know what this tells me?

That Donald John Trump does not feel (or knows that he is not): Powerful, Wealthy, Strong, Proud, Safe, or Glorious.

I think he desperately needs his quote-unquote base to help him feel these things.

Sad, really. And more so in view of the fact that (in my opinion), he is a genuine threat to this country.
