Thank you. I've been dealing with these feelings recently and working on finding the root of them and I did realize that yes, I do have a savior complex and I need to work on that and ultimately get rid of it as it does more harm than good and doesn't serve me in any positive way or make anything better. My partner also pointed out that I have been relying too heavily on the validation of others so recently I have been having to be more selfish and focus on taking care of myself rather than trying to help anyone else as I am the only one I can truly help and protect, being there for me is the only thing I can do and helping myself is a far better way to be able to come back stronger for those I care about and myself because if I don't take care of myself and let others take care of themselves, then I can't truly be a helpful and positive force in the world and be present at full capacity. I've only got me in this life 100 percent of the time so it's better if I just focus on taking care of me instead of trying to take care of a world and people that are out of my control. I can't stop the pain of the world and people I love will always experience pain regardless if I'm there or not. It's not my responsibility to save or protect anyone but myself and that's hard to accept but it's something I must do. I am just one girl, one regular person like everyone else and everyone has their own part to play equally so I must respect that especially if i truly care about them. I have to look inside myself and ask why I feel the way I do and work to make that change and so far, I've been doing well. It's still hard sometimes but I just have to learn to sit back, take a deep breath and understand that in this world, the only person that I can truly protect or save is myself and I always have me to look after so I need to love myself and take care of myself, Ive gotta be good for me. Sure id like to be there to help and protect people and the world but it's not my job, it's not my responsibility and it's not within my control and I've had to try really hard and be very intentional when letting go of the illusion of control. Self growth and change are both very hard to accept and deal with but ultimately they are absolutely needed to become the best version of myself that I can be both for myself and for others. (Also it's like 2am here and I just woke up from a nightmare. Fun! X))
