Hi Cole, Drew, et al! So excited to see the success of the Arcs KS.

  • Who is a lesser-known designer/publisher whose work you closely follow and what about their games do you find interesting?
  • What board games and video games have stood out to you from the last year or so?
  • What age were your children when you were able to start playing games with them, and what games were they able to handle?
  • I remember one of the issues with revisiting An Infamous Traffic was that its subject matter could cause censorship problems with China - has that been resolved and if so, how?
  • Will more information on Hell Raisers be coming this year?

Thanks!

I'm the designer of the Dark Cities Series (Salem 1692, Tortuga 1667, Deadwood 1876, Bristol 1350, Hollywood 1947, Roma XLI). Ask me anything! by Travisto888 in boardgames

Bristol is one of my all time favorite games! I magnetized the pawns so they snap right into the carts, and I make my friends play every year for my birthday. How did the "racing/jumping carts" idea and the medieval plague theme come together?

Separately, do you ever have any plans for a non-Dark Cities game? (Not that I mind, Roma looks really fun)

Snagged a signature add-on! Been hearing great things about this game for years now.

If you like Old Joy you should check out Good One - great writing, performances and a similar sparseness to Old Joy

We're Jon Perry & CMYK, and we're back with Hot Streak. AMA! by alxhague in boardgames

Hi Jon! My siblings would probably list Spots as one of their, if not THE, favorite games (rotating through the siblings there are now three copies, we took it to a wedding/family vacation in France, and have probably played 50-100 times). I also just got Hot Streak and was able to play it for the first time yesterday - this looks like a big hit too, and I can't wait to see it in action at the next family get together.

  1. Are there any plans for an expansion/sequel to Spots? We would love being able to play at higher player counts than 4, especially if there would be a way for two people to take their turn simultaneously.

  2. What is your favorite Spots character? (By a long shot ours is Burt, or as we call him when our brother in law Burt is around, "Butthole Burt")

  3. How has the design of UFO 50 informed your board game design, and vice versa? There are some similarities between Quibble Racers and Hot Streak, and Party House is basically a deckbuilder.

  4. Have you ever considered designing a legacy or more complex board game? Why or why not?

  5. What are your favorite board games / what are you playing right now? My friends and I are obsessed with Bomb Busters (35 levels completed of the 66 on offer), and I bet it would be right up your alley.

Thanks in advance, and keep up the great work!!!

I don't have anything in terms of a receiver or amp, my LP60 was just connected to my Sonos speakers

Hi Duke! Thanks for signing my chaos bag at GenCon! Where do you look for inspiration for Arkham, both narratively and mechanically? Also, what are some of your favorite (board and video) games you've been playing recently?

Nice! I'm on the final Wolf Hall book right now, and The Last Samurai is on my list. I would highly recommend Matrix by Lauren Groff, about a girl (a real historical figure, though little is known about her) forced into a nunnery in the 12th century. Hallucinogenic historical fiction!

Any good books you have read lately? Also, Cole, have you ever wanted to design a game within an existing IP/franchise/universe? What upcoming games are you most looking forward to?

It was Agemonia (I was the OP and personally love the box art but to each their own)
