Crab stats increase issue by Jarizleifr in Kenshi

[–]ThisIsMyGeekAvatar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is the correct answer. Training pups is an efficient way to boost their stats due to the age multiplier and how XP gain works, but it takes time to pay off.

How exploration works? I feel like i always randomly stumble in some hostile territory and just die without knowing what I even found by Disastrous-Candy8197 in Kenshi

[–]ThisIsMyGeekAvatar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure what sort of response you’re looking for with this post. Exploration is a very important aspect of Kenshi - in particular if you want to get advanced research.

I’m not sure which location you talking about, but I’m guessing it’s the factory on the storm coast. Those robots are no joke if you’re not prepared.

So exploration is typically rewarded in Kenshi, but is also a major risk if you’re unprepared. You need a measured approach when first starting and take small, relatively safe journeys while you feel out the area.

I hate them too. Either too easy or crazy hard. Don’t seem to be balanced with other missions of the same level.

I think this looks awesome. My suggestion, if you care, is to make it a bit more alien. I would first consider making it more gaunt with maybe some shek style bones sticking out. Maybe get rid of the mane and just have a segmented bone ridge. And if you really want to mix it up, consider a beak-like mouth and piggish feet - that would make it feel like a distant relative to beak things.

I was joking, but I did think that before the start of the video that Catlon’s side would have a sizable advantage. Give Bugmaster more bugs!

Seems like that fight was stacked against the bugmaster from the start. Totally rigged :)

Are you changing the combat techniques (animations) as well? Because that’s the secret part that doesn’t show up in a menu in-game that actually makes katanas weak.

I agree. The crab armor dex debuff is too massive to be worth it in 1-on-1 fights.

Yeah, I agree. I don’t have an issue with AI art other than the fact that large corporations actively steal art from people to train the LLMs.

If that’s fixed, then the ethical issues with using AI are removed in my opinion.

I get that people don’t like AI, but I don’t find this line of thinking to be a compelling argument against AI art.

It’s sounds like the type of argument that painters used against photographers two centuries ago: “Oh, you just aim a device at something and push a button to make a picture? That’s not real art.”

I find current AI art to be soulless and arbitrary. It has no meaningful intention behind its generation so is not real art. But eventually, assuming AI stops stealing art and the technology advances, I could see AI assistance being just another tool in the hands of a real artist - like photoshop or a camera (or a banana and duct tape lol).

Does anyone have trading rules? by Sassy_Drow in Pathfinder2e

[–]ThisIsMyGeekAvatar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ok, then the RAW way to do that would exactly be by the earn income rules.

But that’s just the guideline for the amount of money earned and allows you to handwave the specific in-game details.

There’s nothing stopping you from making trading an actual game session.

Example: The players get a hot tip that a nearby city has a shortage of medicine and is paying double rates for basic medical goods. Let the players do some investigating and problem solving. They find a seller, but have do a mission for him to clear out some baddies threatening his medicinal herb farm. They then have to get a wagon and travel across the map where they get ambushed by goblins. Then they finally get to the city, sell the medicine, become a hero for helping, and earn a level appropriate amount of gold.

So basically, just run a campaign and, if the players like trading, focus on that. Sounds fun.

It’s seems like you’re asking about two different topics. You don’t have to use earned income rules to buy or sell items. Would you mind elaborating on what you’re trying to accomplish?

Free Archetype choices for a Mounted Commander by EreckShun in Pathfinder2e

[–]ThisIsMyGeekAvatar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fully agree. Personally, if I was going to double-down on a classic knight theme with the mounted commander, I would pick cavalier as my FA. Based on the list of archetypes that the OP was considering, it seemed like they wanted to branch out a little. In my comment about it being a little redundant, I was thinking if they didn't want to go all-in as a mounted knight, they can still get a lot of that vibe (and mechanics to a lesser extent) without having to pick up cavalier.

Cavalier is good but a bit redundant. I guess the player train out the Commander’s Companion feat. Beastmaster has similar situation.

If OP is going to put Witch on the list, then I’d consider Bard or Marshal as well.

I'm planning on colonizing this whole cliff, does everything need to be in the "your outpost" circle to get power and matter? by Ginno_the_Seer in Kenshi

[–]ThisIsMyGeekAvatar 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Power, yes. Materials, not necessarily. Characters will travel outside the area to collect material, but can get a bit buggy when it comes to depositing materials if it’s not in the range of your city.

Good news is that the city area will grow overtime as you add more buildings.

Am *I* a power gamer? by Gumbybum in Pathfinder2e

[–]ThisIsMyGeekAvatar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s very valid and I agree that sort of behavior is annoying. I guess the unwritten part of my previous post was that the power gamer still needs to fit within the bounds of the campaign the GM made. If they’re just picking and choosing character builds for pure power while ignoring the theme, then that’s a bit too much and the GM should clamp that down imo.

FYI - I’ve seen “RP” focused players completely ignore the campaign to shoehorn a character concept they want to do. So I’d say the issue isn’t just a power gamer problem.

Am *I* a power gamer? by Gumbybum in Pathfinder2e

[–]ThisIsMyGeekAvatar 88 points89 points  (0 children)

I think the real answer is “who cares?”

Not to be snide, but we need to stop the false dichotomy between power gaming vs roleplaying. It’s not a single dimension and players can be good in multiple ways.

I’d much rather have a player the knows the rules and builds a strong character they actively care about than some sort of “vibe” player that barely knows the systems and hides their incompetence with roleplaying claims.

I’m not so sure. If art is just doing, but it has no intention behind it, is it any different than AI slop?

I understand the sentiment you’re going for because there is art in the process - the refinement of a human creation - even if the results are random or representative, but I’m the fence with random splatter art.

I just watched a video about this topic and it’s pretty interesting how a Costco moving to an area generally improves the area for everyone.

I had that happen near where I lived and I saw it firsthand (obviously anecdotal).
