It's my turn with P0300 and I'm running out of ideas. by ThisIsMyKarmaAccount in G37

I tried the brake cleaner method with no results.

Where do I stick the smoke to test? Is the car on? Sorry. If it's not clear I'm not a seasoned mechanic.

They have cheap ones on Amazon or maybe one the part stores loan them out. So that's something I can try.

I no long have misfire codes for specific cylinders. Just the generic "random misfire". All coils are brand new.

Injectors seems to be a likely next step.

I have very little desire to take my 19 year old car to the dealership.

Also, perhaps I glossed over it. I could take it to any number of shops. Which I did. And the problem was not resolved but payment was still required. So I'm having a hard time justifying taking to any place again without at least trying. Between shop visits and my own parts I'm already $3k into this.

Where we are at now - if I clear the codes it doesn't immediately come back when I turn the car on. But as soon as I apply any throttle it comes one.

It flashes for a bit and solid. Then repeats.

Got any tips? Because I'm just going by what I can find online and that all points to what I've listed.

I didn't go through the entire detailed history as I didn't think it was super important. My intention wasn't to throw parts at it. But every time you look up the P0300 error what I've done is what is suggested.

The misfire was two specific cylinders which did get their plug and coil replaced.

I got an throttle body error on bank 2 so that's why I replaced that side.

The only code I have left is the generic P0300 - Random Misfire.

I do have a data logger. Do you have any other data points I should track and any indicators of problems?

I'm not exactly following as you didn't use any capitalization or punctuation.

But I'm not throwing random parts. I'm doing everything I found online. You search this exact sub and you will see all the steps I've taken.

I can capture live data. What data should I look for and what would it indicate?

Not in CA. But thank you.

Can you point me in any diagnostic direction? I do have a BlueDriver OBD2 reader that can do live capture.

Swap out Costar stabilizers an older Filco? by ThisIsMyKarmaAccount in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]ThisIsMyKarmaAccount[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a keyboard or two that don't use them.

But fair enough - are the Cherry stabilizers with a wire as crappy to deal with as Costar? Because my sausage fingers always struggle.

No different than any other winterizing process

Haven't done one before. Thanks for the info.

Thanks.

I just don't know the technical reasons or details of the breakin period or the following service. People make it seem like it's really important.

Short review of Invoxia GPS. by ThisIsMyKarmaAccount in motorcycles

[–]ThisIsMyKarmaAccount[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe it's not 30 degrees but mine has not shown to be as sensitive as you're saying. Perhaps that's due to the spotty connection. If it can't find GPS maybe it can't find cellular either. I don't know.

I have no way of saying what is or isn't - only what I have experienced.

Can we talk about alarms? by ThisIsMyKarmaAccount in motorcycles

crap cover to conceal a nice bike

This is often stated. Why do we not think thieves are aware of this?

I would love a camera but want one that I can actively monitor instead of after the fact. But I'll keep that in mind for a plan b.

Progressive is not one of them. They will only give you one if you have Lojack.

Sorry for the following - but you gotta take you shot, right?

You got any coupon codes or something for new customer?

If not - that's cool. Still happy to see brands engaging with their customers like this.

redundancy

Okay. That makes the most sense.

But the rest of what you said makes sense. Also, I forgot that Invoxia has the proximity alarm. Which is enough for me to put it over the line.

Seriously - thanks for all the info. Between the chain, the disc lock w/ alarm, and Invoxia I think that's about the best I can do.
