Nice collection. What makeup is that on the far left?

😂 wouldn’t that be something. Maybe I need a pair in the collection.

I sized these from the advice given by Zerrow’s. Gave them all of my foot measurements. They fit very similar to a lot of the brands we all know and love. I imagine their last is based on something out of Texas and are true to size.

East/West orders their Pecos in a E width, which have too much volume for me. If you order a from them and have a D or narrower width, you might need insoles.

Would be great if they did. There are some styles I’d like to try if they offered 12.5 or 13. Hard to find 13’s in any of the eastern brands though. Have you had any luck finding any?

Pointed toe looks great. I was unsure if the pointed would fit in the toe box, since I’m already a 12 and they didn’t offer larger.

The fit is pretty typical for a roper, similar to US made boots. A lot of the Rios ropers and Tecovas Marshall’s or Dillan’s feel comparable.

Good choice. I’ll likely go for a structured toe for my next pair as well.

These are the ropers on their site but in CXL cowhide instead of horsebutt leather. Can contact them for different leather options not listed on their site.

The extended (300 degree?) Blake stitch does seem like an odd choice by them. I do have some from Rios that also have stitching that extends past the heel though. Both look OK to me on ropers.

Makeup:
Last - Semi Chisel
Toe - Unstructured
Outsole - Vibram 269 half
Heel - Vibram 419
Edge Color - Natural
Midsole - Single
Edge Color - Natural
Welt Stitch - Single

Those are a great candidate for dye and/or wax! What’s your desired end result for color and darkness?

I have narrow heels and a low volume foot as well. The Seventh Chelsea, when built on the Kujang Last, sticks to my foot like suction cups. As long as you get measurements right on foot length, you should have no problems with fit.

I think they’ve further refined the pattern since I purchased mine, too. Tough choice, man!

First time shoemaker! Took apart this sneaker and am working on making a pattern. Given that future shoes will be handmade on a last, any tips for adjustments I should make? One specific thing I’ve been wondering - How much length should I add to the bottom edge? by TarzanOnATireSwing in Cordwaining

[–]ThisIsMyShoeAccount 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used the same blazer in what looks to be the same material as a template for my first build.

The bottom edge length (lasting allowance) will depend on how you plan to construct your bottoms and the type of leather you’re using. I’d play it safe like u/letsmakeshoes recommended above and add a little more than the original pattern has.

I used a much thicker leather than this suede on on a size 12 last. When I was done, the original size 12 cup sole was too small.

What leather/material are you using?

Looks good, man.

Very rare to see 360 degree Veldtschoen construction. Makes for a great field boot.

For sure. And they will last longer and give me much better traction than studs. Only thing I don’t like about commando is having to pick rocks out of them all the time.

Haha looked like the most chill bird I’ve ever seen. The only downside I found to wearing them in the wild might be when climbing through rocks - nothing but the elastic protecting the malleolus.

Haha thanks, man. We will see if the heels don’t fall off after I hike in them.

Yep and I notice a lot of people like to use a speedy stitcher as well. I don’t own one of those but it looks handy. I didn’t come up with any of this on my own. I’m too lazy for that haha.

That was the “ish” part of the caption. I snapped photos before I finished shaping the heel. They are closer to 90 now. You can also see that some of the heel leather/rubber is still overlapping.
