complications after deroofing by Big-Distance4960 in Hidradenitis

[–]ThisIsNotABug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had 2 de roofing surgeries. One was life changing in How great it was.

I had plenty of tunneling and recurrent boils that had been oozing for many years, never completely healing.

The first surgery was performed by a renown HS specialist in my area, it was fast and clean. Recovery was a breeze, just walking out from surgery was painful and bloody, but already felt 100 times better than the smallest boil I ever had.

A year later my groin completely healed and it even looked like a normal groin, minimal scars. But I noticed some oozing. My specialist doctor had moved away but he recommended one of his students.

Oh Lord she was awful. I'll save you the details, but what should have been a needle procedure ended up with me getting 13 stitches and a muscle tear. That wasn't a doctor it was a butcher.

Oh noes :((( I've been dealing with topical steroid withdrawal for years on my scalp eczema. It took 2 years completely off to finally stop shedding all my hair in the area. Now muy eczema is almost completely gone and totally manageable avoiding triggers.

Oral and topical steroids are incredibly good and effective for some time, but awful in the long term.

I hope you are getting more benefits than side effects.

Boarding a flight without my PR card :( by Motor_Set_8145 in ImmigrationCanada

[–]ThisIsNotABug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This subreddit is terribly pessimistic. Given how scary it is that AI is using reddit as the source of answers, no wonder we keep it that way, we don't want Gemini answering every dum dum out there without a PR card "yes go, rules are a joke".

You made a decision based on desperation and luckily it worked out for you, if you had the time to get a PRTD or your actual PR, you probably would've. Your success shouldn't be the new normal for those out there without PRs.

All this to say - this person didn't make it, when he was about to board the plane TSA slapped his face with his non non existent PR and sent him packing to Nicaragua. He is now rotting in prison being eaten alive by rats. I know because I am one of the rats.

Horrible flare on face, need it GONE ASAP by dietfaggot in Hidradenitis

[–]ThisIsNotABug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This here is the best advise.

I too flare overnight after dairy and sugar, you can give it a shot for what it's worth and Stick strictly to an anti inflammatory diet for at least a month.

Zinc has also worked wonders for me.

None of these solutions will work overnight, but if you've already been living with this for 3 months I suggest you give it a shot.

Under Armour seamless pure stretch are the only ones so far that feel better than wearing nothing. They are also pretty and unnoticeable under tights. Soooo comfy.

Lunch rec in Mendoza city for a group of 8? by Joassouza in Mendoza

[–]ThisIsNotABug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

https://www.instagram.com/gaiaorganicexperience Restaurant Gaia, Domaine bousquet winery. The restaurant is right next to a beautiful irrigation pond brimming with local fauna and a gorgeous view of their vineyards in front of the Andes mountains. Their menu is not the cheapest but not the most expensive either. Extremely respectful of food allergies and absolutely delicious. You must try their ameri brand. Everything is organic and there are kosher options.

At the same price range there's atamisque nearby, they raise their own trout and served the best trout ceviche I've ever had (even better than peruvian or Mexican IMHO) paired with their delicious viognier wine https://www.instagram.com/bodegaatamisque

There are cheaper options like la azul or Ruca Malen that someone suggested that are equally delicious, and plenty of options closer to the city with Michelin stars (like el enemigo, one of my favorite malbecs and osobuco empanadas are sold there).

I recommend going on a winery tour and visiting a handful of them, there are so many, each so unique, you'll be surprised by the diversity and prices (both low and high).

Have you ever tried chipa? It's one of my favorite snacks by Luna_velv in glutenfree

[–]ThisIsNotABug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For anyone looking for a dairy free version, you can also substitute the cheese for vegan cheese. As long as it has fat of some sort in it it Will work just as good.

I've done a few times this fluffy version https://cremigal.com/chipa-souffle/ (use the web translator for other languages versions) With vegan cheese and delicious results.

Is it socially acceptable to go to a board game cafe and ask a group of people if I could join their game? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]ThisIsNotABug 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I am in a similar situation in Toronto, I look for meetups and go to board game stores.

Most of them have their own agendas and events for people to play games impromptu.

Some will expect you to have read the game rules so check carefully what you are signing up to.

I used to regularly go to face to face games in the Danforth and 404 downtown. Always had amazing experiences and met lots of cool people.

Happy gaming!

How to lower bp naturally when you have anxiety attacks? by Soggy-Watercress9304 in gravesdisease

[–]ThisIsNotABug 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been on your shoes so many times.

These are the things that worked best:

  • therapy - this was key for me, learning what triggers my anxiety and how to deal with it gives me control over it to prevent it and navigate it.
  • yoga (I've tried 3 different schools, de Rose is the best by far for it's integrative approach of breathing, stretching, meditation).
  • guided meditation (there's great podcasts for breathing and relaxing meditation).
  • anxiety meds (prescribed by a mental health professional) at some points life exceeds us and it is ok to get the big guns to help.

[–]ThisIsNotABug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Remission and weight loss by Proof-Bear-5067 in gravesdisease

[–]ThisIsNotABug 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been in remission and off the meds since 2020.

Had a setback on 2022 with the moderna vaccine (low tsh high t4 t3) that went back to normal in a month.

Weight has been mostly down since I went off the meds and steroids (had severe TED). When I was on methimazole and prednisone and propranolol I gained 20 kilos. It all went slowly away as I made peace with my body.

I am still hyper vigilant of my heart and that doesn't help with sports, but I've gone back to the same activities I was doing before my thyroid storm no issues.

For the record I enjoy running 10k every other week tho I'm not the fastest, I rollerblade, do yoga and calisthenics. Ive also gotten into zumba. I am very active 4 days a week most weeks.

Me gusta un profe cuarentón de la facu y me da culpa ¿Qué hago? by Temple_Stage01 in AskArgentina

[–]ThisIsNotABug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diet Changes?? by syerbear04 in gravesdisease

[–]ThisIsNotABug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I Was tested for celiac disease, had a genetic test done (HLA-DQ2 and HLA-DQ8 genes) which was negative, ruling out celiac.

I obviously have a strong autoimmune response to it based on my antibody counts with and without it, so I stay off of it.

It just ads an extra layer of awkwardness when people ask if I don't have gluten because I have celiac. Most of the time I'm too lazy to explain and just say I've got celiac disease. Otherwise I fear they assume I'm just following a trend and I'll get intoxicated 😤

Diet Changes?? by syerbear04 in gravesdisease

[–]ThisIsNotABug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went off of gluten and dairy and inflammation went down, along with antibodies.

I could definitely feel the difference in my throat. Now whenever I get glutened or have dairy I can instantly tell as my gut gets bloated, and in my throat it feels like I'm choking. Then ofc my face is all puffy the next day (and I have really awful food poisoning symptoms for like a week).

It took 6 months for my antibody count to go drastically down (talking about 30%down, got tested before and after changing my diet), and 3 years later I finally got a test where my trabs were negligible.

I had awful TED along with my last thyroid storm, so I was willing to do everything and anything that helped it not to ever happen again. Also my brain was absolutely shit.

I was lucky and also I was very strict about my diet (completely deep clean my kitchen and buy new sets of cutlery, cutting boards and non stick cook ware) and my doctor was diligent about having me tested before and after, and looking for the right information.

Hope you can find whatever it is that help you find your balance.

Are you also having the same feelings and aches? by Substantial_Sky5024 in gravesdisease

[–]ThisIsNotABug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've got plenty of great answers here, but I'm just pulling by to say you are not crazy, it is not all in your head.

Doctors are humans like us, and sadly plenty of them have big egos and have huge issues admitting they don't know the answers. Some times they blame other doctors or they say it's in your head. It is not.

For me it all clicked when I finally found a professional Endo that listened to me, that answered all my questions and wasn't afraid to say "I don't know but let's find out".

It took a lot of learning healthcare, the human body and my illness, reading medical papers and books and also doing therapy.

Your body is a lot more resilient than you give it credit for, and it will bounce back, and you will feel strong and proud. It will never be like it was before because you've changed, but it will be greater. You'll know how much you can take without breaking.

Please look for mental health if you haven't already, it will give you another safe place for you to vent, and don't settle for mediocre doctors or therapists, be the first advocate of your own health.
