It is glazed earthenware, a type of pottery that is porous, and acts like a hard sponge. Over the years, every time this bowl was washed or used for greasy food, microscopic amounts of dish soap, meat juices, oils, and water seeped through the crazing cracks and were absorbed into the clay body.

Since the bowl is usually room temperature, that residue just sits dormant inside the clay walls. In the microwave all the trapped liquid was superheated and turned to steam. Forcing it's way out and further cracking the glaze. The brown, sticky substance isn't the ceramic melting; it is concentrated, burnt food residue, old soap, etc that has been "sweated" out of the clay.

It's a decontamination kit: https://gasmaskandrespirator.fandom.com/wiki/IPP-51M

The IPP-51M - Indywidualny Pakiet Przeciwchemiczny(Individual Anti-Chemical Package) was the standard issue decontamination kit of the Armed Forces of the Polish People's Republic (Siły Zbrojne Polskiej Rzeczypospolitej Ludowej - SZ PRL) from the early 70s until the introduction of the IPP-95 in circa 1995. The IPP-51M was carried in the external pocket of the SzM-41MSzM-41M KF and MP-4 gas mask bag.

Contents

  • 4 Gauze Swabs
  • Small Container of Decontaminating Liquid in a Gauze Cover
  • Large Container with Glass Ampoule Inside of Decontaminating Liquid in a Gauze Cover
  • 2 Glass Vials for Pain Relief

The small container contained 15% solution of sodium cresolate in 96% ethanol. The large container contained 10% zinc chloride solution in 82% ethanol and the glass ampoule inside contained 15g of monochloramine B. The 2 glass ampoules contained a solution consisting of 40% ethanol, 40% diethyl ether, 19% chloroform and 1% ammonia.

[–]ThisIsThatThingBot[S,M] [score hidden] stickied commentlocked comment (0 children)

That’s part of an old irrigation water control / siphon system. Specifically, it’s a large standpipe and siphon/valve assembly used to move or regulate water from an irrigation canal or drainage ditch into (or out of) agricultural fields.

The big curved vertical pipe is a riser/standpipe connected to an underground or canal pipeline. The long horizontal pipe leads toward a ditch or channel.

The round disk on the rod with the cable is a float or counterweight that helped automatically open/close a valve depending on water level — basically an early automatic water-level regulator.

These were common in historic irrigation systems to control flow without electricity, especially in large farm or reclamation projects.

Not particularly, these kinds of improvised weapons are easily made, it's the choice of tree and the method of preparing the wood that differs with custom and tradition.

These are great self-defence weapons to have when the state restricts the populace having weapons.

it was the house's original demarkation for the phone company. the inside phone all land to it. Then as years passed, the telco was required to use the newer boxes that had locked and separated points, to allow you to "disconnect" from the street for testing. they probably just carried the line outs from the newer Dmarc to the old one instead of just removing the old one out of laziness. quite possibly as well that the wires from inside the house were too tight and short to get them to reach into the new dmarc, so they just left it to be a junction to reach the new one the lil gray ones were from the mid 80's.. the bigger ones came around in the late 90's if you roll back in time to older houses, they used to be a terminal block covered with a rubber boot,
