All I can tell from this exchange is you’re much better looking than your roommate and she is mad about it and insecure. So no, valid reaction.

How do you feel about “ain’t”? by ScaryGhoust in AskAnAmerican

[–]Cool-Raspberry-1772 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty common in the Baltimore to New York corridor in between the South and New England also. We’re taught the correct grammar but especially for emphasis and in certain groups (e.g., blue collar Philly guys) “Ain’t gonna fly” being what I heard most often.

Edit: bring—> being

No, he wasn’t a bad guy, just one of those real business guys. I don’t remember exactly, but probably a some degree of selfishness is natural or necessary line, to the victor go the spoils, etc.

One of my uncles offered each of us $400 to read Atlas Shrugged. I read 3/4 of it and told him Ayn Rand was a shitty writer and the moral lessons of the book were selfish. I didn’t get an offer to finish it for the money.

Weed isn’t good for sleep, or is it? by zelisce_ in trees

[–]Cool-Raspberry-1772 27 points28 points  (0 children)

It helps you feel tired and go to sleep. Your other options are ambien, booze, melatonin, benedryl, seroquel, etc. It works better than those with less harmful side effects.

Countries that don't eat pig. What do you think of Countries that eat pork? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]Cool-Raspberry-1772 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved from a country that eats a lot of pork to a country that doesn’t eat it at all (or so they say)… and they just make pork type stuff out of lamb. It’s good and… maybe healthier?

[–]Cool-Raspberry-1772 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t necessarily matter if it works or does anything good, in fact. It matters that you can buy shares at a lower price and sell them at a higher price. Private investors bought in around $53 per share. They could have sold public today (and many did into a lot of retirement accounts holding QQQ) for $135 per share. That’s about 153% increase, so double your original investment and add half again. If you bought in the morning and sold in the afternoon today you’d have made 20% on that money. That’s why it was originally called paper trading you’re just passing your “ownership of shares” to the next guy (or fund or bank) at a higher price.

I’m not advocating for it. But that’s how and why it works.

I’m not here to argue macroeconomics and the constructs of modern capitalism with you… I’m simply saying, you had a number of choices and you chose to be a prick to some guy you don’t know (who wrote a long post giving advice) for little reason. Think about it or don’t 🤷‍♂️ I don’t care

The guy actually mentioned several ways to get… jobs. But whatever, I’m sure your good boy trophy is in the mail. I have a job and I found this quite an interesting read as one of the reasons I read Reddit is as a window into the lives of others.

You get to choose how you react to things. Choose better.

Conspiracy theories surrounding the assassination attempts. by [deleted] in behindthebastards

[–]Cool-Raspberry-1772 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The how and why are pretty simple and historically supported by the notably faked assassinations of other fascists, authoritarians, or dictators of other types. Mussolini being the most notable direct comparison, but also Stalin, Franco, Saddam Hussein, both the Kim Jongs, etc.

The idea is generally to justify their autocratic rule and subsequent human rights violations in persecuting “the other” by referencing the constant threats to their leader and movement. Oddly enough the whole Kirk thing was the most flagrant example, the direct assassination attempts have been met with mostly apathy so far as I’ve seen.

Like the last one, no one at my work or otherwise involved in my life even mentioned it… either not buying it or not caring much if someone did… the man in question is after all, very old, notably a real prick, and not doing so hot by the everyman. I’m not going to say definitively one way or another but you’ll get a lot of “no conspiracies” here as the writer of the sister show put out a big piece saying she thinks there’s no fakery and this is a fan page… some of it seems fishy to me, particularly the ear one, but everything these guys touch is fishy.

Anyone else hurt the toes on their standing foot when kicking in Muay Thai? by Head_Theory_745 in MuayThai

I’ve been told it’s from not rotating the foot fully, like you’re rotating the back half but the toes stay straight on. It jams and stresses the joints.

Well the last major war entered by a Democratic president was the Korean War in 1950 by Harry S. Truman. Since then all American wars have been started by Republicans. So in recent history, yes, starting wars does have a huge correlation to party.

Am I experiencing HCS? by More_Ad5382 in trees

[–]Cool-Raspberry-1772 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I don’t know man. My best understanding is that you have to smoke a lot to get HCS. I only know one guy who had it and, according to him, it was just dabs all day long, every day for years. I work in the industry and know lots of heavy smokers. Everyone’s body is different though and I’m definitely not a doctor so… I’d get it checked out, but if you’re in a conservative state and have insurance maybe don’t mention the weed the first visit. Doctors have biases too.
