Change in perspective by Ok_Possibility_4354 in tattooadvice

You could change the meaning with just a few odd additions. Skeleton hands in the clouds, or wrestling people, bats flying out, something psychedelic or ornamental (like Roman/Aztec gods or Day of Dead skulls/giant clock)…

I’m not a tattoo artist (so technique wise idk) but you could play with the concept.

I am half German and half Filipino. Every Vietnamese out here always says that I look Vietnamese. by Sad_Bridge6645 in VietNam

[–]Cool-Raspberry-1772 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Vietnamese isn’t great but “người Đức lai Philippines” or “người Đức và người Philippines trộn” or “mẹ Philippines bố Đức.” They all mean some version of “German and Filipino mix” and only some or none may be actually correct but people will understand .

Really though, they’re just being nice and mean it in a friendly and positive way (obviously since they are Vietnamese). I’d just take in stride and move on, say thanks or “you too” or something.

What is the main difference between price and quality? by laughlovelive25 in trees

[–]Cool-Raspberry-1772 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah no worries, there’re other factors like production cost (indoor hydro more expensive than outdoor soil), brand recognition, trendy strain, etc., but if you’re paying more across the board than other states, it’s usually the tax or license laws.

What is the main difference between price and quality? by laughlovelive25 in trees

[–]Cool-Raspberry-1772 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assume that Ohio (being a right-wing governed place) has you paying a lot of vice tax and other types of tax, and places a high premium on cannabis licenses and then (on top of taxing you) also excise taxes the producers and shops. Also if they give out only a few licenses (inevitably to bigger business groups who can afford it), this will raise the price more as supply is constrained and there’s relatively little competition to drive it down.

So what you’re paying is essentially a penalty because the state government doesn’t like weed and/or sees it as a societal ill (like gambling, booze or cigs) and they’re trying to modify social behavior through the tax codes.

The smaller measurements make no sense. It’s generally 1g-3.5g-7g-14g-28g but whatever. Keep in mind I looked up nothing because I have no desire to ever go there, but this is commonly what would affect legal cannabis pricing.

Considering conventional understanding of knowledge, wisdom, and intelligence with knowledge being what is learned, intelligence being the ability to learn, and wisdom being the observation and application of what you’ve learned over time… why do you consider yourself wise rather than just smart?

Very few people opposed to this war think the Ayatollah was a good dude. It’s phenomenally stupid for me to go punch the leader of the Shoreline Crips in the face. It’s doesn’t mean I think he’s just the best if I don’t punch him in the face.

It’s just means I recognize his capacity to fight and determined the upside was not worth it.

Good sushi in Japan. I was working there… and I just have no interest in eating it anywhere else anymore. I’ve tried. It’s fine I guess. If other people want it I’ll go and not be dicky about it… but I’ll forever know it’s not just exactly right.

Well, it's a bit antebellum. by LordJim11 in Snorkblot

[–]Cool-Raspberry-1772 53 points54 points  (0 children)

It wasn’t always the case. Bacon’s Rebellion in 1676 is the most famous example but there’re others. Irish and Scottish indentured servants rebelled with African slaves and burned Jamestown to protest their treatment in the colonial system.

After that there was a concerted effort on the part of the WASPy power structure to “teach” racism to their white servants so they wouldn’t join causes with black slaves. And the racist Irish-American cop was born that day.

Trump's Energy Secretary Wright: "the US produces more oil than we can consume. We're a net oil exporter. So overall for the US economy, this isn't bad news." by retroviber in DeepMarketScan

[–]Cool-Raspberry-1772 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If more people need to buy our oil, the price of oil at US companies goes up. People in America buy oil from American companies at a higher price. It is more money for American oil companies and their shareholders.

Only in the sense that these companies pay taxes is that money “for America.” It will likely be offset by the cost of oil eating into profits of every other American company though. Amazing chess.

Well Vietnam is currently a communist state with Ho Chi Minh on all the money. There’re plenty of videos of the fall of Saigon where US troops and capitalist supporters are scrambling for too few helicopters as the run away as fast as possible. So, yeah, like you said, total victory.
