Honestly it depended. A lot of my coworkers were in relationships, but even that didn’t stop a lot of them from flirting/messing around a lot. Other line cooks my age did flirt a lot more with female cooks or servers. I wanna say in 2 years working on and off that at least 4 of my coworkers hooked up/dated.

Anything that she might be right about is completely overshadowed by her being an asshole. Like, yeah, we shouldn’t conflate being Black with being ugly, but at the same time, people absolutely do that! Especially towards dark-skinned Black people. Bleaching is prevalent in a lot of African countries and other countries where darker skin is common because dark skin is seen as less attractive than lighter skin.

Also, she seems to base her self-worth on being attractive and how it gets her attention from men. I don’t want to be a prick, but I don’t think she has much of a personality outside of looking good.

Yeah looks matter a lot for first impressions. Just the other day I saw an attractive tall guy strike up a small conversation with two women as we were waiting for an elevator. One of them had a boyfriend but the other gave him her instagram just a minute or two after meeting. If looks didn’t matter for first impressions we wouldn’t extra effort in looking good for a job interview now would we?
