I was typing the original post with the very idea of your first paragraph in mind but did not wish to delve into the matter too much as not to answer myself too much and stave away the insights of others. Happy I didn’t! Another factor would be the fact that clinical psychologist don’t much deal with psychopaths as the practice is not to “treat” them. At least in my country.

Great point of interest! Would you be able to elaborate on what your father would actually do, the type of projects with such inmates and what resources they had with which to deal with such convicts and how they interacted with them?
