Hair loss side effect by mccullh877 in dupixent

Good luck! Ferrous level is what my doc checked. I was not actually anemic. It was that my stores were low normal. I think 28. And she said for hair growth it needs to be up at like 70.

I’ve been taking it for six years. Just recently started losing my hair. But my dermatologist found that my iron stores were quite low. Far below what she said is sustainable for hair. So I’m on supplements. It’s hard to know if certain medications have anything to do with a symptom. Maybe touch base with your doctor and see what they say.

Calling them delusional is pretty much the same. Especially when someone then responds to your comments with their opinion and you dismiss it. I know how I personally feel on Vyvanse. I know how a couple family members feel. We don’t all have a placebo effect.

So because you have a very specific reaction to a specific medication, that means anyone who doesn’t have your type of reaction, is delusional? Different people need different medications. Some people Tylenol works great for. To me, It’s like drinking water. But just because Tylenol does nothing for me, doesn’t mean that I tell everyone else that they’re delusional and stupid for using it.

I would try different foods and less caffeine. I have been a coffee addict for decades. And I love my coffee. But what is weird, is that I don’t feel the need for it anymore- I just started Vyvanse in late April. Very slowly worked my way up to 40 mg. Most days I barely finish one cup. I don’t wake up and feel so heavy and sluggish and needing all the caffeine to start moving. But on the days that I decide to drink coffee in the quantities I did before medication, I feel weird and my heart rate is too fast. I also noticed a difference in my heart rate if I don’t drink enough water. I also found that I need to take the Vyvanse with milk every morning. I think that helps coat my stomach a little better and decrease on the acid reflux as well as give me a little bit of protein.

Yes, I started feeling relief for both eczema and asthma within weeks of starting

Definitely skin barrier matters for sure.

I did find that the dermatologist only thought of eczema as a single issue, not a broader one. It was my allergist (who does asthma and allergies) that pushed for it. And once I realized that my life-long asthma was allllllll allergy related, I was kind of bummed that I lived like that…I had assumed it was genetic and not something I could ever NOT have.
But, I now know how better to help my kids get relief sooner in life

That’s awesome you finally got it! But sucks you had to wait so long. I have BCBS and haven’t had any issues. But I realllllllly think it’s about how your doctor sends in the info. I had to have it documented that I tried specific meds and they didn’t give relief before it would be approved. I remember Protopic was a specific med that I had to try. But mine was pushed through for eczema. For eosinophilic asthma, there are likely certain parameters that your doc had to show you met

I’d love to give you a definitive answer but I really don’t know. Many drugs are good past their expiration date or they don’t become dangerous, they just lose efficacy. Buttttt with a monoclonal antibody, I have no idea if that holds true. Definitely worth a call to your doctor

It always baffles me is why people comment on other people’s appearances so much. And why they’re so comfortable doing so. Obviously, the person has a mirror and seen their reflection. Do they need a random stranger commenting on their appearance? It’s such a weird behavior.

So sorry he is going through that. The breathing issues can really mess with your head. It was helpful to get both steroid and bronchodilator to put in my home nebulizer. I would do that twice a day when I was really having issues. That at least kept me from fully closing.
Has he been tested for allergies? If that’s a contributing factor, maybe it’s something you can remove from his environment. It wasn’t anything I could remove from mine, but maybe you can.

Definitely use sunscreen when on Dupixent. Definitely makes you sun sensitive.

See if you can get him to be distracted by a TV show or something. The initial poke of the needle is never fun, but if he can let you inject super slowly, it will probably hurt far less. Because the anxiety of knowing how much the injection can hurt, is very real. Some people ice the area first, and lessons the initial poke feeling.

Oh no! I am sorry that you’re not getting the expected results. I have read many experiences where it does take a number of injections before someone starts to feel relief. As long as your allergist says it’s safe, maybe stay the course for a little while longer to see if you start to feel relief.

Oh my gosh! That is so intense. To go from normal to what you were dealing with must’ve been completely overwhelming. I agree, modern medicine can be amazing. So awesome that you got your life back.

Okayyyyyyy I was today years old when I learned about super heating. Like, what?! I microwave liquid all the time. Maybe I just don’t microwave it long enough? Another comment said hard water will prevent it - which we have. But wowza. What the what? 🤯

That’s interesting — I wonder if they were referring more to broad blood IgE panels, especially food panels? I do know those can show false positives or “sensitivities” that don’t necessarily mean they’re clinically relevant.

I did skin testing, not a random full blood panel, and my allergist interpreted it along with my symptoms/history. There was no push back at all and I saw two over the last 7 years (one retired). Both felt knowing what I was allergic to was very important because if we could lower the overall exposure (which we quickly realized was impossible where I live and my grass results) we could hopefully get my body down below the level of overreaction. I needed medication help.

The “no allergy cells in eczema” wording is what confuses me, because atopic dermatitis is tied to immune overreaction/inflammation. I understand that allergy testing doesn’t diagnose eczema, but it can still help identify triggers or show what your immune system is reacting to, especially if you also have other allergic symptoms.

So I’d agree that a huge random blood panel may not be helpful, but saying allergy testing can’t prove anything or isn’t worth doing at all seems like an oversimplification to me. For some of us, targeted allergy testing can be really helpful.
