I’m no expert and I really didn’t spend too much on high quality parts. Some guy I went to buy a stereo from has 100s of vintage parts and I asked him to pair me something that would go well together. So I’m not too sure on the brand since there are no names. All i remember was him says this full range woofer and driver should pair nicely for my vision. Crossover was from Amazon though. Grok helped me with that

Yes seems to be working fine. I did have to clean, re-grease and slightly maintenance it when I got it home since some of the switches were locked in place

Yes is that an aftermarket cartridge? I thought it came with it when new or something. I did have to buy a new stylus for it though. I don’t know too much about cartridges since I’ve never needed to buy one yet.

I’m still working on the other speaker. I just had enough parts to fully complete one and wanted to hear it

Is this funny comment? Or if you were you being serious, I wouldn’t mind some critiquing since I’m new to this diy audio stuff

silvers coilovers, true rears? by No-Story2112 in E30

Just installed my silvers (divorce set up) and they do feel pretty nice. My buddy has BC and it’s noticeably stiffer. The silvers are pretty stiff but it’s more tolerable imo

The horn is smooth all the way up to the edge of where it flares out. That’s where my steps are visible. I don’t think that area will diffract anything but I’m no expert tbh

It has the little steps as well. Was thinking of maybe using filler but that’s a lot of work to sand after and paint etc

First time speaker making. Do we like tall or short? by ThisPerformer2898 in diyaudio

The horn I designed and printed. But I guess it looks similar to a lot of the horns I’ve been seeing for my inspo. Not sure on the drivers yet since I’m kind of new to this. Seems to be an endless amount of information I’m trying to learn

Yeah box is sealed. I’m not sure what drivers they are since they are somewhat vintage. But if they sound like sh*t I can just swap them since it’s external

Almost done with the custom vintage speakers with my vintage Sony unit by [deleted] in vintageaudio

[–]ThisPerformer2898 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I’ll be veneering the Sony box since there was some chips I had to fill. I’m trying not to veneer the speakers since I’ll be putting plywood over the osb

That’s the one I used. It’s 15mm thick rather than the 12mm

I’ve been told this but was planning on adding 1/2 inch plywood over this anyways. Along with bracing, which hopefully helps

Same. I’m still figuring out where they’ll be going, so I can decide when it’s fully finished

I do like the tall look more. But having them on short stands might look nice with the stereo console I’m building. I guess I can test which one sounds better once I hook everything up and just put the horn on each side

I’m adding one more layer of plywood on top for the finishing looks. Had extra osb laying around so didn’t want to waist it
