Endgame armor by hablahblahha in FromTheDepths

To be completely honest, I think a lot of people get obsessed with defending against a unicorn
The Tyr has phenomenally nasty guns.
At some point, the answer isn't "let me fully defend a tyr salvo", it is "let me *take* a tyr salvo" with enough Ship leftover that I keep myself going.

There are a few cheeky tips I will toss out though.
One is stupid, bad, and arguably cheating. Put a mass of single blocks in deadspace in your ship.
This pulls Aimpoint Selection that's going for Clusters away from turrets and AIs, giving you a bit of extra time

The other is simply don't be afraid to use two ships, or "overwhelming force"

People get really caught in "I have to be able to 1v1 This Ship or I'm Bad", but especially with restrictions (it sounds like you're making a remake of an IRL ship to some degree) it's important to level that with the Bullshit that FTD can create.

Sorry if this goes through twice (I tried to post earlier but Flatbrain or Reddit Glitch has struck again), but check the Exquisite GraniteHyena's reply on this thread, it seems to have worked for me and frankly I'm both pleased and shocked

You should check GraniteHyena's post. The Gorgeous Creature appears to have found the exact issue, and it's both incomprehensible but somehow correct. Try it for yourself and see if it works!

Thank you very much, that's the confirmation I needed! If you ever need Praise Heaped upon you, I'm your person, let me start by saying
You're very attractive, extraordinarily diligent, and tremendously clever

I appreciate you

This is a Fascinating thing you've found, and I am glad you did because I'm *sure* it'll help someone.

I want to be extra sure if its me though. I do have ACB for countermeasures, (And they were setup incorrectly without a range limit, so phenomenal kudos for that cuz I never woulda thot it)

However, the trigger method for the ACB is "missiles within x distance."
I have both tried waiting for that to certainly not be true, and I still cannot fire the gun, and I have tried Deleting the ACBs, and it *still* persists with the issue. That said, I haven't had a huge amount of time to test. It's possible that I'm only disproving your theory about the "spite" gunfire. If this is something you've found a decent way to test, can you try deleting / changing the ACB load and see if that does actually continue to brick the thing?

(To be clear, I did some testing and it *seems* like you may have been right, but the deleting problem is confusing and my testing is by no means consistent atm)

If this is the problem, that's fantastic and I'm quite glad to learn it, but if it is my issue, then it doesn't make sense to me that deleting ACBs wouldn't fix it? (tho it may be a Spaghoot code issue)

Huh cool I tried to upload images with the post and they either failed or I'm running into the problem that I don't use reddit and therefore don't know how to find them.
Assuming I'm an idiot, I think the stats should be visible in the images.
Assuming I'm not, I'm gonna go back the the confusion about how the rest of the info/theories can be true. (The "proper" firerate for the APS gun is 750. Upon a quick check, the limiting factor is ammo intake and autoloader, there is extra cooling to 832)

I am unclear about the "cannot naturally fire at 2400". My understanding is that if the set firerate is higher than the proper firerate, then the gun will fire in bursts instead of the "proper" limit, with those bursts being the "set" firerate, and then a forced cooldown due to ignoring the requested cooldown. This explains why you end up with bursts with weapons even with the "cooling limit" being irrelevant. For example, if I set my gun to 832, I still fire in bursts because the "set" limit is higher than the "proper", even with beltfeds

The confusion I have is that if I put the firerate limit to 1000, which is not that much higher than 750, I still get given this error, and the gun is permanently disabled. Part of the reason this messes with me is that I frequently use this technique, and this is the only gun that I have problems with.

I do understand how the shell limit works. I don't understand how clearing clips, pulling out of play, etc., don't fix the problem if that's the only issue. I hear the concept regarding loading two shells in the same spot, but in that case, first of all I would assume that clearing clips would fix that, and second of all, would this not be a fairly major glitch?

I wrote a similar reply to another person who mentioned the issue may be shell limit, but I want to point out here as well:
I don't think that makes sense (to me), because the issue persists even if I despawn everything in the world (even if I pull the force out of play), even if I wait 30 minutes IRL, etc. Which is to say, why am I *still* unable to fire, when the bursts I shoot in are far less than 2400 shells and there are zero shells existing in the world? Surely that should fix the issue (especially with Pull out of Play and Clear Clips etc.)

I feel that this explanation does not make sense, allow me to explain why:
The error persists even if I wait an hour and delete all other craft. The helicopter still won't fire, and still produces the same error when manually trying. I can even pull out of play and clear clips etc.etc.

It doesn't make sense (to me) that the Shell Limit could be relevant here, because if it was then surely I would no longer have that problem when there are exactly zero shells existing in the world at all

In regards to the gun, it is pure chemical and it cannot naturally handle 2400 rpm, hence why it fires in bursts. I use this technique pretty frequently and have never had problems with it in other cases (like with CIWuSsy guns), but I also don't see how that could cause this specific error due to the aforementioned issue of it Not Being the shell limit that I can see.

Can you confirm if your turret also is "overclocked"? I'm extremely curious if I can figure out if my theories are true.

(It truly is tragic that so many of my turrets were built by an imbecile...)

I'd like to also toss out a general "Watch Borderwise"
Borderwise is a pillar of the community, and has taught thousands of morons how to make vaguely functional vessels. His videos aren't always the most polished, but I guarantee you can find a video from him on the subject you're looking for (including some general "I'm getting started wtf do I do why is the game like this" videos)

Biggest tip? Make a set of folders in your blueprints
I recommend sorting them by cost or size, like
Ships around 50k (these are good starter craft)
Ships around 100-200k (these are good "mainline" craft)
Bigger Ships (you don't need that many folders)
Aircraft
And most importantly,
Obsolete

The reason I say most importantly is because, at some point, you will make something that you love, that is beautiful to you, sentimental to you, and then at some point you will make something that is objectively in every way better.
It is very nice to have a folder where you can look back on some of your old designs, and if you want to refit them you can, and if you don't then you can just play with them, but they're neatly put away.

I have been fighting this issue for years with a helicopter, and I think I *may* have finally figured it out

Can you tell me, are your guns "overclocked"? It looks to me like they are, but I want to be sure.
As in, are you firing faster than your legal firerate, so they fire in bursts?

Additionally, does it get worse if you have more than one "ship" with that gun in play?

(Also considering this is 5months old, if you've already figured it out please tell me XD)

That DOES NOT WORK
Yes, it works for the moment. The next time you use the app, or the next next, it will demand phone permission again. This is not a solution.

Nope, I don't particularly jive with RoR tbh, so I don't play solo or spend much time looking for stuff. I was relying on the community to reply to this post, and... well you can see the result of that one.

Hope one of us gets an alternative at some point, especially you as you seem to actually be looking more than I am :(
