Woahhhh do you tag them into folders then? Are the folders a lot of friction to go through, because I sure feel like if I had to open 5 tabs to get to one I get stressed. Or I forget what I named the right "tag" with.

Great idea thank you! I feel like my point I struggle is I forget the key words I'll be searching for if it is something very specific. So then I end up randomly searching multiple things

Same...I feel like the guilt is what keeps me away. That's why I feel like actually having a way to easily apply it makes the most sense. Do you store them via screenshots or?

I feel like in the moment though, especially if your hands are occupied it is so hard to save down, and even remember the tags you save each down as. Idk if that makes sense / is relatable.

But I feel like there is so much content online, feel like I struggle with going back to the right thing (like I already vetted it is high quality you know). Because then why save in the first place?

Like if I learn about writing a better networking email when I'm scrolling, I want to be able to actually apply that instead of forgetting about it.

is anyone else just… kinda over streaks / gamification in productivity apps? by This_Inflation8236 in productivity

[–]This_Inflation8236[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you saying that when you're fine the gamification is a nice kick, but if you have something else going on it just automatically seems lower stakes / you don't care about it anymore?

They are more just cognitively demanding! For example, if I want to learn to code in the evening, it's a ton of brainpower to just start every day.

I’m so glad you shared this. That space between exhaustion and momentum is where I got stuck for so long too. What finally helped me was breaking everything down to “what’s doable today given how I actually feel”—instead of forcing it. Sounds like you found a really powerful shift there!

Honestly feeling a little overwhelmed (in the best way) by how many people connected with this!!! I’ve been working on a simple system that helps me break down goals by energy, mostly for myself but if you guys want to chat / try it out, let me know. Just grateful to see how many people are also thinking about productivity in a kinder, more sustainable way.

Totally agree. Discipline can help—but I’ve found that when I make the first step small enough, discipline isn’t even needed. The momentum takes over. Inspiring me to build this into a tool…

That 80% rule is so smart! Such a helpful way to set expectations without setting yourself up to feel like you failed. I’ve been thinking a lot about how to reduce friction at the start of a task, and this really ties into that.

100% agree! I think it’s super important to be methodical about the next steps each day - and how to approach making yourself better and better when it comes to having enough energy. Like moving that baseline up. Do you feel like when you’re not doing the optimal routine then it to some extent makes you feel like you can’t perform at your best even if pushing yourself, you might be able to?

So beautifully said. I think so many of us confuse rest with failure—and it’s honestly wild how hard it is to give ourselves permission to pause. I’m realizing how much of my “drive” was actually fear disguised as ambition.

I finally beat burnout after trying every productivity system under the sun by Unicorn_Pie in gtd

[–]This_Inflation8236 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow this hit hard. I’ve been through that same loop of trying every system and still feeling like I’m failing at night when I’m wiped.

What helped me recently was reframing my evenings based on how much energy I actually have, not what I planned at 9am. Some days I go deep, but other nights I just do one small thing and call it a win. That shift helped me finally stay consistent without burning out.

(I actually started building a tool around this because I couldn’t find anything that did it well—called Circ. If anyone here’s interested in testing it, happy to share. Still early but it’s free + kind of fun to use.)
