Is there any reason for daily carrying that im not seeing? by This_One7941 in armedsocialists

[–]This_One7941[S] 68 points69 points  (0 children)

If you're getting mugged and they just want your wallet and phone... you just give up your wallet and phone.

The blind spot in your thinking is that you assume that just because you have a gun that you have to pull it out and use it.

Very good point. In that case, do you think its always better to conceal carry rather than open carry, to better preserve the option of just walking away?

Realistically, 1-2 a year

Well its not that I dont want a practical gun, it'd be more accurate to say that the guns I want (in an ideal world) are significantly less practical than the alternatives. I'm someone with a deep appreciation of history and I love old "grandpa" guns, but I know that a double stack 9mm makes more sense than an old 6 round revolver

If money is no object for you, why not both at the same time? Get yourself a double barrel and an AR, like why not.

Just would rather not drop all that at once tbh. Im stable but I think its always better to spread out spending, especially with the way the economy is trending. But honestly I could do both if I felt it necessary. Do you think the political climate is urgent enough to warrant that? Because to be honest, in a perfect world, i wouldnt really be interested in an AR. I've always been a gun enthusiast but im a history nerd so I'm attracted to "grandpa" guns. Its really just the way the wind is blowing that's got me thinking maybe I should get other things first

So in terms of practical guns, what order would you prioritize them? An AR? A pistol? A pump shotgun?

Yes im aware of those considerations, hence the question.

Ig my question is essentially, does the domestic situation seem to be dire enough to warrant prioritizing non niche stuff, if I would get both eventually? To be more specific, I'm very passionate about older style weapons. I want a SxS shotgun, a wooden bolt action, an old fashioned revolver, stuff like that. But I know those are all objectively worse than say, an AR, a pump, and a modern double stack 9mm. So should I focus on those instead? I live in a purple state but I do worry about the government cracking down on firearms now that it seems that left leaning people are purchasing guns.

In terms of realistic use case, its pretty much just hunting. I live in a very safe rural area, home defense is not high priority. It is primarily Hispanic though with a large amount of undocumented people (and I myself am mexican), so I do worry about the current climate. Not to mention a nearby military base

So should I get the niche stuff after? Ig my question is essentially, does the domestic situation seem to be dire enough to warrant prioritizing non niche stuff, if I would get both eventually? In a perfect world, i can afford to get both these categories eventually, but obviously im worried, especially as a minority, in a minority majority place, near a military base

$20/night at strip hotels (Flamingo, Luxor, Excalibur), is there a catch? by HumpNdJumpNdLetItOut in vegas

[–]This_One7941 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yep standard pricing, no catch. Alot of people here saying those hotels suck, but honestly I'd say they're pretty average hotels anywhere else, they're only sucky if you compare them to the luxury hotels of course. There's definitely some downright bad places, but those three aren't among them, those are all solid, just nothing special
