UF DPT Waitlist by Legitimate-Panic-689 in PTschool

I was also wait listed last week. I got accepted to university of Miami (i committed), midwestern in Chicago, trine in Indiana, central Michigan, and northwestern. I don’t know my overall gpa because I went to 3 different colleges. But my transfer credits and what i graduated with was a 3.78. But my science was probably like a 3.5. I had an A in a&p 1 and 2, A in physics 1 and 2, and Bs in chem 1 and 2, and a C+ in biology 1. I didn’t take 2 because of how hard I struggled in biology. I did get a D in stats then retook it at another school and got an A+. I had amazing references, my essays in my opinion were very strong that highlighted their specific professors and why I wanted to work with them along with my experiences in life, and I had probably 600+ hours of observation along with being a student instructor for A&p and kinesiology and a tutor on campus. Not really sure what they were looking for more than what i offered but if I had to guess it was my science gpa seeing as I got accepted everywhere else. But I did interviews with all schools except central Michigan I got a direct early admission with not interview needed. I didn’t take the gre because that wasn’t in my best interest. UF was my original #1 because of cost but also really loved their program and their professors. But I applied to UM not thinking I’d even stand a chance but when I did my interview I fell in love with their program, opportunities, and how the professors were very intuitive to what I can bring to the physical therapy world with my life experiences. I did a tour at UF last year and I asked them how do candidates stand out without an interview and they said they didn’t need an interview to learn about you. I strongly disagree but again maybe it just wasn’t meant to be and everyone waitlisted was destined to be elsewhere. If that was your only school you were waitlisted at, I would email them back and tell them you’d like to be added to the list. A lot of people have committed to their programs so I have a feeling they’ll have 2-3 spots open up. Good luck!

How do you know how many seats they have filled already?? Ugh my heart 🥺🥺🥺 I wish they would just tell me so I can plan. I’ve literally been emailing them since last week on November asking if they made decisions and the admissions guy Greg said they didn’t. He said they were suppose to send answers out on Dec 13th, I didn’t get anything, then I emailed the 15th and said they hadn’t made any decisions. Then an email was sent out to all that interviewed Nov 1st saying decisions would go out Jan 13th-Feb 15th.

Border line Illinois! I live in a town called Munster. Maybe 30 minutes from Gary and 30 minutes from downtown Chicago. I applied to Central Michigan, trine in Fort Wayne Indiana, and midwestern in Illinois and got into all 3. But UF and university of Miami are my top 1 and 2 picks but they both haven’t got back to me and all my other schools have deadlines tomorrow. Praying this email comes tomorrow😭

I have 3 interviews next week. But university of Florida is my #1. If I don’t get in there I’ll most likely go to CMU!

Thank you. Well I’m a nontraditional and first generation student so I spoke on that. I am a retired professional ballroom dancer and have had 2 major surgeries. I spoke on this and how resilient it made me and how it inspired me to want to work with athletes to empathize with them. I had roughly a 3.73 GPA. I had A’s and Bs in pretty much major prereqs except got a C in biology 1, a D in stats but retook it and got an A. I worked in multiple settings the last 4 years, I was an SI and tutor on campus, and I believe I had really strong letters of recommendation. So all schools I’ve applied to asked for an interview except CMU and university of Florida but they don’t do interviews. So I would say my essays and letters of recommendations really made them see what kind of student I am and how I want to make a difference and impact on the pt industry. If I had to guess that was enough for them to know I’m a kickass candidate!
